Good community, and great school for Catholic children.
My only critique is that past schools I have been to had way more rigorous curricula and OLG's seemed quite easy.

This is a top-notch school. More affordable than most private schools. My children were at least a full grade level as compared to children who attended Santee schools. A huge difference in academic standards not to mention character standards are amazing.

We were very very pleased with the education our kids received here. They were very prepared for High School. From an early age the students begin giving oral reports so they become very comfortable with speaking in front of others. This is an important skill to have in High School and beyond.

The homework assigned was appropriate for the grade level. My children learned time management skills and were very prepared for the homework load in High School.

The majority of teachers were very good

One of the most valuable things about Catholic school education is that the kids can pray in the classroom. This is more important than some people realize. In addition, the teachers emphasize treating others with respect and appreciating each persons individual qualities.

We can only speak as grandparents. We see that our grandchildren are happy, kind and love school. As I said above the self confidence they have is amazing. Attending a school that teaches academics interwoven with religion leads to a well balanced curriculum that will serve them well later in life .

The students have just enough, but not too much to take away from family time or extracurricular sports.
Posted: February 28, 2019
Every time we have visited the school and gone into the classrooms we can tell the teachers have the students involved in many things.

We are continually impressed to see example after example of our grandchildren demonstrating in their daily lives the lessons they have learned to be kind, be helpful, be respectful. Their self confidence is amazing. Our granddaughter spent her kindergarten year in public school so we have something to compare OLG to. The comparison is night and day. All of us are made to feel like we are part of a family.

From the principal to the teachers and the rest of the staff the children are treated with kindness and respect. They are leading by setting great examples for the students on how to treat one another.

I really don't know about this so I cannot comment.

Bullying is not tolerated at OLG. We have not had any problems with bullying nor have we heard of any bullying. To the contrary, we witness courtesy and kindness between students regardless of grade or age.

Both of our children attend OLG. We love this school for many reasons and are so happy to be a part of the OLG community. We have found the school to be a wonderful environment that academically challenges our children while supporting their growth both socially, spiritually and academically. Both of our children are excelling in so many areas and have developed a confidence and character that we credit to the school. The children are taught to build each other up and cheer for their classmatesÂ’ success, leading to a community that supports one another and teaches kindness. All of this while giving them a top-grade education that prepares them for high school and beyond. We strongly recommend OLG.

Homework is used to reinforce the subject matter that was taught during the school day. We find this very effective.

The teachers are very experienced and strong in their areas- from primary, through middle school and junior high.

This school develops very strong character in its students. Integrity, compassion and respect is modeled daily by the teachers and principal.

Our principal is very effective in her leadership role. Her hard work and dedication to OLG, its students, and teachers is unmatched.

OLG supports all of their students, from academically challenged to high achievers. Teachers work with learning differences within the classroom, as well as the learning resource center.

OLG has a "no bullying policy." My children have never had a bullying issue, but I know that it is taken quite seriously if a student gets bullied.

My experience at Our Lady of Grace School has been extremely positive. I am an active volunteer, and have experienced school operations up close. This school runs like a finely tuned machine. An immense amount energy gets put into its daily activities. The strong leadership of its administration, and the hard work of its teachers makes it operate in such an excellent fashion. I have two children that presently attend and one graduate who is a junior at Our Lady of Peace high school. She tested into high school at honors level in all subjects. I believe that she obtained an excellent academic foundation in all subjects at Our Lady of Grace School.

Not enough Math, Science or English homework. The staff seem overworked, down hearted and unwilling to spend more time grading homework.

The school follows the Catholic faith. Much of this depends on the families. Some are not actually Catholic, just using the school for education. They often follow various paths in their own lives that are contradictory without intention of offending others. Mostly this is due to their personal background. It is unfortunate as it is a parish school where I expected all like minded Catholic families.

Math not up to public school standard, lack of common core practice. This became an issue when transfering to high school. My, what I thought excellent math student, didn't recognize the math curriculum she should have covered in 8th grade. I had no idea of how much of a problem this would cause in the 9 the grade.

Very disappointed in the math teachings at OLG. I don't feel the teachers have embraced common core, and lack the training to do so. You pay a lot in tuition but only have to hire a tutor for the student to learn math. Overall I feel OLG is a good school.
