I am 56 years old and I'm an alumnus of Soille San Diego Hebrew Day School, so I admit I am a bit biased. I have 6 kids who I sent to Hebrew Day and I am so grateful that we have this school in San Diego. All of my kids are growing up proud to be Jewish while also excelling in the secular world. My oldest daughter is in an Ivy league college and my 2nd and 3rd are in high school taking AP classes and high level math classes. If you are looking for a well balanced school that offers both a high quality secular education and a strong basis in Judaic tradition, than you can't do better than Hebrew Day. When it comes to observance, most of the kids at Hebrew Day are traditional and not orthodox, but all the parents who send their kids here recognize the importance of imbuing a strong connection to our Jewish tradition while at the same time not giving up on getting a strong secular education as well...

Would give it zero stars if I could as it is nothing more than hype. This school is academically inferior and enrollment declines every year. If that is not enough to go on, the parents are extremely clicky, gossipy and shallow. The amount of money you put into the school is directly correlated to the way you and your child will be treated and respected. As if tuition isn't high enough, get used to being asked for money on at least a monthly basis. We are much happier in every aspect since we've moved on to a much better Jewish day school in San Diego. Do your research carefully never settle. I wish them the best of luck and hope they can improve their standards.

Repeatedly I run into other families who have moved to San Diego just to have their kids at Soille. Its the reason we moved here, and the best move we've made for our son and for our family. The community at Soille is welcoming, accepting, loving, and supportive. Very much worth the move, and would do it again.

SSDHDS provides a warm, supportive, yet challenging learning environment that not only provides children with the opportunity to succeed academically but also teaches them to be exceptional leaders and human beings.

I believe that Hebrew Day school takes the emotional wellbeing of my children very seriously. I feel like my kids are safe and that they are surrounded by high-quality peers. Hebrew Day School takes a lot of time instilling good character and behavior in the students and I think you see that in how the kids act with one another.

I appreciate that they don't assign homework for the younger elementary grades and for the older ones, the homework given is always a review of skills learned in the classroom. The teachers don't give busy work, they give work that reinforces what my children are learning so that they can acheive individual mastery of the curriculum.

The teachers at Hebrew Day School truly care that the students are engaged and learning. They use innovative teaching methods and devote a lot of individual attention to each student. You can tell that the teachers are personally invested in their students.

The Successful Me program at Hebrew Day School plays a fundamental role in the curriculum at the school. I love that my children are learning about character development from both the Judaic and General Studies teachers and that those lessons are woven into so many different kinds of projects.

I can see that the entire administration is committed to making Hebrew Day School great! They work hard to make the school runs properly and is a home away from home for all the students.

My children have learning challenges and I love that they receive so much individual attention at Hebrew Day School. The small class size and the high teacher to student ratio really make the difference for them.

I really think Hebrew Day is an excellent school! I'm thrilled that we found this school and I truly believe that my children will have life-long benefits from their years there!

Our son has had three excellent years at the school. His confidence has grown, the principles and morals of the school are exemplary and there is a warm, caring atmosphere. Emphasis is on academics and teaching kids to be good people. What more could I want?

This is our fourth year at Soille. The community is great, the teachers are TOP NOTCH. They truly care for the kids. There are families of all levels of Judiasm. You don't go to Soille for what is on the outside (building, playground, etc)- you go for what is on the inside.

Soille not only inspires the minds of its students but nurtures their souls and shapes their values for life. It gives them the confidence to be leaders in their community and the moral foundation to want to.
