I was very disappointed with this Montessori school, in elementary level, the teaching style feels more like a traditional public school. We wasted our money!

Casa Montessori is an exceptional school. It is my son's first year in the Primary Program and he has grown so much in the last 6 months. He is always so excited to share what he has learned at school. He loves to learn new things and try new tasks and I attribute this to his education at Casa Montessori.

The Teachers and Staff at Casa Montessori are truly exceptional. It is a very family-oriented environment and the Teachers and Staff do everything possible to make sure that each child has a wonderful experience.

Since the summer when my son began attending Casa Montessori he has truly been learning and growing in character, specifically integrity, compassion and respect. He loves his peers and classmates and looks forward to going to school each day to see them.

The Administration and Leadership Staff at Casa Montessori are amazing. Each student and parent are important and I am forever grateful for everything the Casa Montessori staff have done to ensure a smooth transition to primary school.

We are truly blessed to be part of the Casa Montessori Family. This institution truly focuses on empowering our children to not only excel in academics but also to learn and value the arts as well. We love Casa Montessori!

Casa Montessori is an excellent school. The family oriented environment, along with the love and care of the staff is very comforting. When I drop my children off, I know they will be looked after diligently, affectionately and taught not only academics but how to become well-rounded individuals. My children (6-year old and 4-year old) have flourished immensely in the few years they've attended Casa Montessori. The Montessori method is truly valuable, particularly in the early years to establish key fundamentals and passion/excitement for learning. I have and will continue recommending this school to anyone. It truly is a hidden gem in the valley!

This school is a haven! I wasn't planning on sending my son to school so early (2 and a half) but I was really motivated by a close friend and neighbor. She kept telling me how much her 2 girls loved it and she really pushed me to take a tour. Obviously, once I was there the campus and the classrooms are pretty impressive but after having my son here for a year and a half it goes far beyond that-- we are so close with his teachers and the administration. They have put so much wisdom and knowledge into his little body that it's sometimes hard to believe. He does everything on his own and reads to me and my husband every night. He shares his opinions like an adult and he cleans up after himself. It's something else to watch him. I would say thank you to all of the staff but thank you is not quite enough. So I find myself coming here to try and share what they have given us with someone else. 2 thumbs way up to all of the staff! Thank you!

I went for a tour a week ago, and was very impressed at how nice and orderly the classrooms are run, the kids were all very independent. All the children were very focused and concentrated on their work, the teacher gave lessons. Everyone was busy learning. I really liked the elementary class, the children were really getting one on one lessons, and challenging Montessori work. All the children were happy, and the teachers seem to care very much about her students. My kids will be starting in the Elementary level classes this summer at Casa Montessori School of Northridge, I look forward to this journey with them! 5 stars for you guys!

I wish that every parent gets this kind of school experience for their children. Excellent, thoughtful teaching and a meaningful curriculum. There was not a day that my daughter came home without excitement and enthusiasm. She was always being challenged and she is still maturing beyond her years. I am so grateful to the faculty and staff who has supported her throughout every step of the way!! I recommend this school to any family or parents.

Casa Montessori School of Northridge, California is highly dedicated, education based school. The are fully committed to the Montessori practice, my children are very safe and happy! Wonderful and Professional Staff! The kids come home sharing all the wonderful lessons they have been given and work they have done! We are very pleased!

Fantastic school with fantastic instructors! My son will be here for many years to come!

I really love this school. This was our son's first preschool and I could not be more pleased with the teachers, the classroom setup, and my son's progress. It's the only valid Montessori school in the valley which is a plus.

I could not agree more with the last review. Casa has been the Foundation for my child's reading and Math. This school is a little gem in the valley that has been operating for over 40 years! Preschool-Elementary up to (age 12). New Director. Friendly, helpful and professional. Music program is wonderful! Teachers are nurturing, patient and thoughtful. Things have changed for the better as far as parent participation. But any new changes take time to implement. Parents need to be pro-active in order to set the tone for volunteer positions. The school Wants parents to volunteer for field trips and any events at the school. The office administration is always willing to take suggestions for things like New Events, Field Trips etc... So call the school to make an appointment for a Tour. The school is putting its New Facebook page together so look for this in the near future.

This school is a real blessing- it has been such a challenge for us to find a school where our son feels comfortable. Unfortunately, he has faced a long battle with bullying and no matter how many schools we tried, it was always the same. We were just about give up on schools and homeschool him ourselves when a friend in the area recommended this school. This school has really changed his life. I am so relieved that he is somewhere he feels safe now. He's happy and he has friends at school who don't push him down. The teachers are great at dealing with conflicts and they really try to help the children problem-solve their way out any issues so that it doesn't happen again. I wish that all of the other schools could have used this very simple policy. It's a shame this kind of mentality in schools is so rare.

What an enriching experience for my children, The Teachers are all AMS Montessori Certified, My children are learning the foundation of math concepts, they have learned sounds and are reading, I have noticed their daily routine, even at home, to be very orderly and independently at work. This all amazes me! The Teachers are so dedicated to their work and towards the children growth! The Director is very kind, understanding, and also very dedicated to her school! I would greatly recommend this school to others! Wonderful Certified AMS teachers, and very dedicated Director!

I'm impressed with this school. It isn't easy for my wife and I to pick a school for our 9 year old son. We have very, very high hopes for him and we want to know that he is being challenged. With that said, this school has been a great fit. I can see that my son is constantly engaged and always growing. This has been a huge step forward for him.

Our family is very attached to this school on a personal level. I don't think that we would get this kind of parent/teacher relationship somewhere else. Our son is moving on to middle school now and he will miss this school immensely.

I love this school! My daughter is in the elementary program here. Yes, I would rather there were more students in the elementary level. That being said, my daughter thrives at Casa. She is growing into an independent thinking, self confident, inquisitive person who loves learning and is unafraid of asking questions or finding solutions. At Casa, my daughter is nurtured, valued and educated. I am one happy mom!

Outstanding program! It's frankly amazing to see how committed the teachers are here. I'm absolutely impressed by my daughter's progress in just one year at this school. Although I can't say enough good things about this school, I will add that all of their teachers are incredibly gifted. All of them have strong roots in the Montessori method and they believe in it's philosophy. I know this is why my daughter is able to accomplish such a high-level of thinking.

This school's extra-curricular programs are incredible! My two kids come home from school everyday with so much excitement and a love for learning. My daughter is learning Spanish here and my son has become a wizard on the computer through their computer classes. As a dad, I am so impressed and I really couldn't have asked for more. My kids are happy and healthy here. As long as they are attending this school, I know they are in good hands.

I came to this school because my oldest son grew up going to Montessori schools and he loved it. I knew I wanted the same education for my daughter so when we moved into the area, this was the first school on our wish list. This school ended up being a perfect fit and I'm so glad we found it. My daughter is very creative and smart for her age and this school helped her to develop these strengths--especially with writing and math. Also, the after-school programs are very, very affordable. This was so helpful on days when me and my husband both worked late. If you're looking for a program that offers a bit more than a lecture-style classroom, this is it! There is lots of creativity, passion, and one-on-one attention here!

My son just graduated from this school a year ago and I cannot emphasize enough how much this school has prepared him for a higher education. Not only has my son moved on to be at the top of his class but he has become a strong, intelligent, and independent-minded young man who continues to make me proud. I have Mrs. Long and all of the amazing teachers at Casa Montessori to thank for the incredible journey they have taken him on. This is a great school with compassionate and caring teachers! No school in the area compares!

Why does this school continue to claim that it is accredited on their website? On the school s website, under Why Casa Montessori? it claims that it is special because it is an American Montessori fully-accredited elementary program. However, when I checked with American Montessori Society, the AMS explained that this school is not accredited by them. The AMS accredits several elementary schools in California, but not this school. Paid membership in the AMS is not the same as accreditation, there is a huge difference. Paid membership in the AMS is much easier to obtain than AMS accreditation. Only AMS accreditation requires a site visit and affirms that a school meets a standard of excellence recognized by educators and Montessorians worldwide. Schools should only make claims about themselves that are true.

Most private schools are not accredited by naeyc, but this school is a member of naeyc. There is a difference. The person below has been attacking this school for years because she is a disgruntled immature former employee. Good ridden to her. My child gets private attention, is starting to read at age 3 and loves her teachers. I doubt you can find a school that offers comparable academics , practical life skills and love, especially for the price. For what you get at this school it is reasonably priced and focuses on the whole child letting them excel at their own pace. There are no restrictions to learning and children are challenged appropriately which i love!!

Posted: April 24, 2014

To me, accrediation is important in that it shows that a school has met minimal standards and has passed a site visit. When I looked at this school, I was under the impression that it was accredited, yet the school was unable to show me any proof that it is accredited. Invest a minute of your time and call the NAEYC accreditation agency yourself to find out if this school is accredited. Their phone number is 800-424-2460 x0, or simply search NAEYC contact.

One thing that captures your heart is the Campus! The Principal, Mrs. Valera, who is also the classroom teacher for pre schoolers is a wonderful teacher! My child enjoys working in the class-room. The other teachers also are very helpful and pleasant to talk to! The school is very open about parent involvement. Absolutely very professional and highly respectful staff! The fees are a little high but what could be better than knowing that your child is in good caring hands and loves to learn and enjoy his work?

I m a parent of an elementary school student and I m not coming back to this school next year. This school is far too under-enrolled and there are not nearly enough kids here. I am unimpressed with the teaching. I don t know why someone has posted an enrollment of 152 students on this website. That is very inaccurate and misleading. In fact there are only about 16 students left in the elementary program. The extra-curricular activities have very little participation from the elementary school kids, mostly they are for preschoolers. There are only a small handful of kids in each age group in the elementary school. I am going to be looking elsewhere.

So happy we enrolled our child, plan on sending my infant as soon as possible. Don't be persuaded by the negative comments, this is clearly a former disgruntled employee bashing a school that she has not been part of for several years. "yes we know who you are." I am an actual current parent and everything she has been writing is in inaccurate and a complete misrepresentation of this wonderful school. Every time a real parent has left positive reviews in the past 2 years she has tried to discredit it with a negative rant, never once mentioning her "child." Please ignore those comments as it is not from a parent. This teacher was obviously let go for good reason. With this immature behavior i would never want my child to learn from her.

I am disappointed by this school. The K to 2 classroom does not implement the Montessori philosophy, and is Montessori in name only. Contrary to Montessori philosophy, in this class, most of the day, students must sit in assigned seats, are not free to move about the classroom, are told what to do, are not free to pursue their own individual interests, and cannot talk with or interact with other classmates to collaborate or assist one another as needed. This class does not promote spontaneous action, exploration, creative thinking, or cooperation. Instead, the class promotes obedience to authority and following directions. With no recent change in principal, ownership, or administration, this school is in severe need of a major overhaul.

this is a great little school. My child has been going here for a year and she loves it. I am always surprised at the amount of things she's learning. I don't know how the school was a few years a go but I can honestly say that her teachers now are dedicated and attentive to my child's educational needs.

Allowing students to access and handle answer keys to their classwork? Giving students question sheets that have the answers printed on the reverse side? Almost no other elementary school would allow these practices, and with good reason. With such poor security of the answer sheets, how can a school possibly guarantee the honesty and integrity of all the work performed in the classroom? Other unusual policies such as no homework, no tests, and no grades may make it difficult for students enrolled in this school to ever get accepted into another private school.

Posted: February 27, 2014

So much attrition that only about 16 students remain enrolled in the entire K through 6th grade elementary program. Not a high quality program.

Posted: February 3, 2014

Is this school still in business? The last I heard it was on the verge of closing. They had lost so many students that most of the teachers had to be let go. Unfortunately they kept the wrong ones.If the original owner is still there their is no hope for this school. It has fallen behind the times and the administration has no intention of coming into the 21st century.

I have two children at Casa and they have flourished academically as well as socially. They are considered individuals and not just a face at a desk. Casa is much more than your average private school. Besides being a Montessori school, which already differentiates it from other private schools; here they become part of a family and they understand the meaning of community. The teachers care about their work, they care about the students and to add to that, they are experienced as well as dedicated to their craft. I have never been to a school where the parents, as well as the faculty are so respectful and courteous. The teachers are open to having parents contribute and share. In fact they welcome it. I have seen parents come and partake in cooking classes, gardening, reading, special events etc. My children will have fond memories of their elementary school years, and I as a parent know that I have made the right educational choice for them.

My children have attended Casa since they were three years old. One is currently in fifth grade; one is in second. I am very, very happy with what they are learning. The teachers are very well prepared, capable and kind to the children. The children are very kind to each other, too, which makes for a safe environment in which learning can take place. I think of Casa as a hidden gem in the West Valley. I know that my children will be very well prepared for whatever educational paths await them in the future, and when they look back to what made them happy in childhood, I know that Casa will have been a huge part of that happiness. I am so grateful to Casa for all it has meant to my family and to my children.

I love Casa Montessori! My kids have attended this school for the last 4 years with one moving on to middle school a year ago. My middle schooler is in the top 1% of his grade in nationwide tests &, in large part, I have Casa to thank for it. My kids are happy, safe and intellectually stimulated. They both test in the top 5% of their peers. Our new principal is a wonderful educator and I look forward to seeing her plans for the our new school year unfold.

In response to the 'teacher'. Education is about being truthful. This school ONCE practiced the Montessori education, teachers had excellent verbal, academic teaching skills, continuous training and experience. It's time for new leadership, new teachers, and new management! You can only pretend for a short time, we parents can google information and KNOW if a school needs HELP. I hope the school owner takes heed.

In response to the post of August 6, 2012: We have had lower enrollment recently, which has coincided with the current economic downturn, however, we have seen a turn around in enrollments this summer and look forward to continued growth. All of our teachers have bachelors degrees in Education and are Montessori trained. Additionally, all but one teacher have Masters degrees as well. Administrative responsibilities are well covered by an educator with a Masters degree in Education, as well as,19 years experience with our school. Additionally, this person is supported by an office administrator with a Masters degree in education, 25 years adminstrative experience (15 in Human Resources). We invite all prospective parents to visit, see our school, talk with our educators and administrative staff and come to your own conclusions. We welcome face to face conversations with the parent posting the August 6, 2012 review.

What has happened to this school? Only three classrooms now. All of the best teachers are gone. The principal has given some of the administration responsibilityto her early childhood teacher who hasn't a clue about what to do to help this school. Too bad. It was a very goodschool once. Those days are gone.

Teachers are attentive to the greatest screamer and favorite. Class room is chaotic especially occupied with one "special" child. I don't mean handicap but spoiled. Prices are unreasonable. Do not cater to parents who work. After school hours fees are outrageous. No team sports.

Hi My 31/2 old girl has been going there for a couple of months and she loves it.She has learnt to much in afew months that I am amazed. The teachers are wonderful and I agree the snacks isn't that great but the education they provide is really really good. She loves her school and I am very very happy with her progress.

The teachers and teachers aids are really great. They are very attentive and dedicated to the children in their classrooms. I really appreciate the type of individual study for the children, which is the backbone for the montessori philosophy.
