Our family has had an outstanding experience at Reformation Lutheran School. The Christ-centered environment is evident in everything they do, from daily interactions to the way students are encouraged to grow in both faith and character. The teachers genuinely care about each child and provide a strong academic foundation while reinforcing biblical values. The school has created a welcoming, supportive community where families feel involved and students are known by name. We have seen tremendous growth academically, spiritually, and socially. We highly recommend Reformation Lutheran School to any family looking for a quality Christian education in a safe, caring, and faith-filled environment.

We love this school! We are incredibly grateful for the education my son receives at Reformation Lutheran School. This Christ-centered environment has fostered a strong sense of community and instilled valuable character traits in him. The teachers are not only exceptional educators but also dedicated, caring and supportive mentors. They go above and beyond to nurture each student's individual needs and encourage their academic and spiritual growth! My son started Pre-K here and now he is in 8th Grade! One thing he tells me is that he feels valued and respected here and is challenged to reach his full potential. This makes me very happy as a parent because you know you made the right decision in sending your child here. I highly recommend Reformation Lutheran School to families seeking a nurturing and academically rigorous Christian education!

Pros: Faith based education/curriculum, low student to teacher ratio, friendships and low tuition cost
Cons: Staffing shortages (which all schools currently seem to be struggling with this same challenge)

At RFL my kids really seem to be excited about learning and enjoy the tight knit friendships across all grades.

Looking for a great faith-based education for pre-K through grade 8, look no further than Reformation Lutheran School in Clairemont; an accredited Christian school for over 50 years. Low teacher to student ratios. Caring teachers. Newer classrooms with the technology needed to teach Kindergarten through Grade 8. Reformation Lutheran School excells in offering competitive volleyball and basketball for boys and girls in addition to physical education classes. Whether starting your child in the year-round preschool, jumping in at any grade K-8, or taking advantage of the summer camps and Vacation Bible School, this school offers so much more than public schools and should be seen to be believed.

This school has steadily declined every year since we started there five years ago in 2017. They seem understaffed, and the staff they do have always seem overworked and exhausted. Academic rigor severely lacking which became even more apparent when we moved our 3 children to a new school this year (10/22’). There have been 3 different Principals in over the last 5 years. The campus is not as secure and safe as it should be - no lockdown procedure or training, and the front office is always unlocked and open. The school principal, board of education members, and teachers seem to have severe communication issues. The school does not consistently enforce its discipline policy which causes the good kids to suffer while the children causing problems perpetually get away with bad behavior, threatening acts, and even physical harm to other students. We ultimately made the decision to pull our 3 children Oct. 2022 after an extremely serious safety issue was poorly handled - A 7th-grade boy texted a sinister picture of himself holding a black handgun to several of his classmates and mentioned he had a gun in his backpack. The principal was made aware of this and didn't contact law enforcement, so a parent called the police due to the principal's lack of due diligence. A police investigation occurred that evening the principal and board gave this boy a one-day suspension because SDPD said that the gun was allegedly never on campus. The next day the principal sent an email to only 5th - 8th-grade families explaining the situation which I found to be extremely concerning as every family deserved to know this student was still on campus. I emailed back immediately, and never got a reply. I kept my kids home as I was not comfortable with the student on campus without proof via psychological evaluation that he wasn’t a danger. I met with the principal a few days later and waited 8 days with no response, so I emailed them officially taking my kids out of the school. Again, I never got a reply. Eventually, I received a condescending and insensitive email response 8 days after I sent the withdraw email from someone on the board. We were at that school/church for five years. This has been one of the biggest disappointments I have ever experienced. The last 5 years of fond memories of my children's first years of school have been forever tarnished for me and would not recommend this school to anyone unless they make some major safety & discipline policy changes.

My child attended TK here, and LOVED it. As a 2nd grader she still speaks about her experiences here. Reformation always created an experience for it's students. The only complaint I have is about teacher's aide. The one in my daughters class did not come off as pleasant/personable to be a part of such a great atmosphere

This is a great small school that offers "big" school opportunities. The students are involved in many activities both academic and extra-curricular. The teachers and staff provide guidance, leadership, and assistance to all students as needed. Children succeed and develop moral and social skills appropriate for their age levels.

I love this school. My daughter has been going here for almost 7 years. The teachers are dedicated and caring. The class size is small, so every student gets the attention they need and deserve. I am a working parent, so I love the fact that I know the teachers and it is a safe and caring environment. I am not Lutheran, but I love the Christian environment and that my child is learning about the bible. The academics are advanced and my daughter is also learning Spanish. They have sports for everyone. I highly recommend this school and the tuition is very reasonable.
