As of the time this review was made I am in the 8th grade. I've attended this school since Kindergarten in 2015, I've seen people come and go. This school certainly has its flaws. Majority of the time your experience as a student is always going to depend on the teacher. The middle school homeroom teachers are involved and care for the students very much. Elementary teachers are also very gentle for majority of the time. Although, there is always rehiring, people resigning and alot of staff switching. There is a computer programming class that involves the use of block programming. The computer class also teaches children how to type. The school is very small and they really try to make the most of the space. The middle school has a program called "OTS" or (Opportunity To Serve) which allows students to help with things such as school events. A few groups part of OTS are, Tech Team, Graphic Design, Gardening, and Band. I am part of Tech team, which helps with lighting, sound, and projection on the school's weekly chapel and plays. Bullying is an issue unfortunately, but it depends more on the children than the students. I notice that many kids, especially in my class, have had mental health issues and this school has had a positive influence on them and I've noticed an increase in mental health in mental health in one of my friends who had also been there since Kindergarten. Overall, it's a decent school for Christians. It certainly needs improvements, but a decent school.

I attended this school in for kindergarten in 1997. I don’t remember much about the school, but what little I do is not good. I remember the principal making fun of me in front of the entire school in the chapel/auditorium for cheering for my (ex)step-brother when he won an award. I don’t remember the principal’s name. It was a grown man and I was 4/5 years old. Most notably though, when I had been upset and crying on the playground I was brought to the admin office and locked in a closet until I stopped. The closet had two doors - one to the office, and on to the chapel/auditorium, and I think there were cleaning supplies in it. There were multiple adults in the admin office, and I’m certain I was not the only child this happened to.

I realize this is a weird thing to bring up 25 years later, but it came up again when my mom was going through some old artwork I made at the VCS. When I told my mom the story so she would throw that junk away, it really upset her. When I think back to it as an adult it upsets me as well. It was a long time ago, so maybe the school is different now, but think twice before putting your child’s well-being in their hands. Multiple adults knew this was going on and allowed it to happen.

From other parents and I have heard the teachers say that kids are just behind and can’t keep up. There’s no real help

I was there for 2 years and left because the level of homework was about getting it done and not about learning. The 4th grade teacher was the worse as far as being compassionate and caring. Her teaching style was outdated and for some reason coloring 20 or so pages was useful to kids for what reason. The kids had a test 3 days after Christmas break and sometimes 4 or so tests a week. This pace was more intense for a 10 year old than college.
The principal basically told me that my son couldn’t handle the school; along with teacher. Even though he was excelling in the school. They blamed whatever to make themselves seem right. So sad the Christian values do not live at this school.

The 4th grade teacher is smart and if she was willing to learn from others and care more about the students feelings and not just checking a box; then she would be great. She does not like to be wrong and will blame parents and shame students. We all are wrong sometimes and that’s a lesson she has not learned. So sad

The amount of homework is insane for the grade level. Especially the 4th grade dictator teacher who is more interested in checking a box then the kids learning the material.

Some teachers are good but the 4th grade teacher shamed the students, is a perfectionist that can’t be wrong and favors students. The principal will not listen because they are low on staff and funds. There’s no PE teacher or program.

Bullying goes on and sometimes it will get handled but I’ve heard a teacher tell a student to be tough because it gets rough. So sad.

The principal doesn’t listen and sides with her teachers no matter what happens. The computer teacher yelled at the students and nothing happened for years.

I have two children that are attending Vista Christian School, both my 8-year-old and 10-year old kids have gone to Vista Christian School since Kindergarten and they absolutely love it! My husband and I appreciate the small, family feel that the school gives. The staff is absolutely amazing as well. Without Vista Christian and their knowledgeable staff, my sons Dyslexia may never have been detected. The staff is fully educated with unique behaviors and learning disabilities allowing my son to get through school with ease. We are also very grateful for the small classroom sizes giving the students the attention they need to succeed. I highly recommend this school and are truly thankful to be able to have them in such a loving environment!

Vista Christian's staff is extremely knowledgeable as my sons Dyslexia may never have been detected without them. The staff is fully educated with unique behaviors and learning disabilities allowing my son to get through school easily and enjoy it as the same time.

Depending on which teacher you have your homework will vary. One teacher, who is no longer there, was very good at providing homework to meet the needs of my student. Other teachers provide busy work that rarely gets checked or returned. While others provide standard work & check it, meet with kids & return.

Not all teachers are effective here. Some are, some aren’t. For example, when I asked the teacher what she was specifically doing for my child I got a very general ‘this is what I do for the class’ response, not my child’s specific needs. My academically above grade level student dropped in all curriculur areas while in the third grade at Vista Christian.

I agree that the kids are learning this, however, my children began to see the hypocracy of what was being taught and the actions of specific teachers and leadership.

Have a problem? Let’s push it under the rug. There is a hush-hush mentality & leadership does not hold teachers to the standards a Christian school should, unfortunately.

We attended this school for four years, and following the administration change two years ago the culture of the school has changed. Our students will not be returning this fall.

My daughter has been attending since Kindergarten and is now in fourth grade. The teachers are amazing. Any child who has Mrs. Fabrini, Mrs. Pickard, Mrs. Martinez, Mrs. Scarcia, Mr. Nunley, are truly blessed and lucky to have such amazing teachers. The teachers and staff nurture, encourage and motivate the children more than words can express. The school is a great value and so worth the investment in your childs life.

Our daughter started at Vista Christian Pre-School when she was 3. She is now in 3rd grade and she is excelling in every subject. The teachers are excellent, the entire staff is amazing. I highly recommend this school to anyone who wants their child to recieve a well rounded education with a strong emphasis on God.
