Wonderful teachers. Strong family supports. The location and school itself is beautiful. They follow their mission statement and provide students with excellent instruction. We love how much our kids have grown here socially and academically.

We moved to Maranatha from our local public school as their worldview and value system didn’t align with our family’s beliefs anymore. What a breath of fresh air to be surrounded by families who instill Christian beliefs and students who truly love the Lord. Both my sons are flourishing in the junior high and high school programs. I adore their friendships, teachers and the character development they’ve received while under the mentorship of Maranatha’s staff. It has been a blessing to our family.

Stay away from this school. Student body is all spoiled fake Christians. Entitled and no nothing about Christ and his teachings. Maranatha is from Calvary and they’re extremely judgmental and exclude students who don’t fit in their fake bubble. There are some great teachers but the physics teacher is clueless, she even admitted she has never taught the subject and I needed to correct her a few times. Principal is full of himself and relies on his secretary for everything (the high school only has 200 students btw). The students are in for a dude awakening when they enter the real world, if you don’t discipline or parent your kids the world will do it for you. Stay away for gods sake

I recently toured Maranatha and was initially impressed by the curriculum and sense of community. However, my enthusiasm quickly diminished due to a troubling interaction with the admissions director.

As a parent of a high-functioning child on the autism spectrum, I found the admissions director’s response to our situation to be generalized and uninformed. When my husband mentioned our son Parker's diagnosis, the director immediately stated, “we don’t have the support as public schools.” This sweeping judgment left no room for understanding the unique needs of individual students on the spectrum.

Many children, like Parker, thrive with external support from their families, specialists, and extracurricular activities. Some may not require in-class support at all, yet this perspective was entirely overlooked. Instead of fostering an inclusive dialogue, the response felt dismissive and judgmental, which was disheartening given the school’s emphasis on community and support.

Other schools we visited communicated their limitations while also emphasizing their commitment to helping neurodiverse children succeed. They recognized that each child is different and approached our situation with understanding and openness - especially recognizing we provide all the support he needs and continuously evolve that support to help him succeed in every dynamic. In contrast, the experience at Maranatha highlighted an uneducated perspective around neurodiversity and an unfortunate lack of appreciation for the diverse ways in which children on the spectrum can be supported.

I urge the administration to prioritize training on neurodiversity for staff members. Understanding that autism exists on a spectrum and recognizing that many successful individuals are neurodiverse is essential for creating an inclusive and welcoming environment.

For families with neurodiverse children seeking a nurturing atmosphere, I recommend looking for schools that demonstrate genuine understanding and commitment to accommodating all types of learners, allowing each child to thrive according to their individual strengths.

Also to note: If you are looking for smaller more focused class sizes this is not the right spot. Their numbers mirrored and even surpasses class sizes in public school with the same number of teach/aids support.

I was looking for a Christian school for my children as my husband retired from the military and my kids have had the opportunity to attend many schools - both private and public. This school is based on Christian principles and values. The teachers are so easy to get along with and the school counselor has been most helpful in leading us to getting help for our ADD child. No school is perfect but this one comes very close. They are also very concerned about your childs' safety. Many practices for fire, earthquake and lockdowns happen regularly. I thank God for this school especially in a very topsy turvy state.

I honestly don't know where to begin with the unprofessionalism of this school. My child attended for a grand total of 2 months as they completely discriminated against our family.

We were open and transparent with the fact that our child was in need of a school that supported Christian values and a loving environment as we are a military family. Instead we were met with judgment, branding of our child, and a school that filed a social services complaint for ringworm acquired from their school!

The principal of the school, who claims she has 27 years of child care experience, offered no insight or advice when we reached out for support in helping our child adjust to his new environment.

This school is only interested in maintaining their facade of christianity and lacks any type of grace or compassion. I recommend they reevaluate their values and morals and not brand children as problematic and truly practice what they preach.

As a new staff member, I've been warmly welcomed into the community of the school. I've been able to experience the effectiveness of the leadership and administration firsthand, they guide well and tend to the needs of the students and families. The vision is not just to be an academically thriving school but also to be a positive voice in the community. I see and recognize the difference of Maranatha Christian Schools, as a thriving community where all are welcome !

The school is not only academically strong but more importantly, they place a high emphasis on developing strong values in the students. The curriculum is integrated with lessons in character building and the Elementary Division recognizes students monthly for displays of character as well.

I've been impressed with the leadership and administration as a new staff member. They make sure to communicate across departments and divisions to ensure a well functioning school that excels in all things. It is not easy to balance all the different dynamics of a school and I have found they do it well and in a Christ-like manner.

Please don't waste your money at this terrible school. My child went to Maranatha k-4. Yes, there are some caring teachers in the lower grades but his 4th grade year was a nightmare. The teacher had obvious anger issues which she took out on many of the kids. The administration was also far too harsh with discipline, and did not take parent concerns seriously. My child switched to a fantastic local public school and the quality of education is 100 times better. He was so far behind in math from his years at Maranatha, we had to hire a tutor in order for him to catch up (yet Maranatha consistently gave A's to almost all students). My child is fortunately doing beautifully now. Don't believe the hype about this school. They do not practice what they preach.

My son was having troubles, including bullying, at his neighborhood public high school. He transferred to Maranatha in the middle of the school year and has not looked back. He had 30 new friends after his first day of school. In his words, kids are "way, way nicer" at Maranatha. My son is an athlete working on acceptance to a D1 college athletic program. One huge factor in this transfer (besides the rigorous college prep academics and Christian curriculum) is the school's new Athletic Director and baseball coach. This school is undergoing a transformation into a place where serious athletes can develop with Christian coaches who will prepare them for athletic careers beyond high school. What a wonderful blessing!

We moved from out of state, mid-year, to this school and all three of our children have experienced kind, thoughtful teachers and students and have the opportunity to jump into the school culture. Academically, we couldn't be more pleased!

We have had children in this school for over 10 years and couldn't be happier! The high school students are almost all accepted into the best of colleges and are strong spiritually as well as academically. Every teacher we've had from kindergarten through high school have been well educated, good teachers, and emotionally supportive. Especially under the new superintendent, the school is always striving to improve and expand the academic offerings, security for the kids on campus, performing arts, sports and extracurricular activities. Tuition is reasonable compared to other private schools in San Diego. We highly recommend!

Words cannot express how much I love this school. My children are doing great, I love what I see academically and spiritually. I feel the homework has been appropriate from high school to the elementary. In my experience, the administration has been willing to listen to concerns expressed, but they do not conduct meetings immediately upon request. I think it is not a bad idea as it gives everyone time to ensure emotions are in check and goals are achieved.

We have three children at Maranatha have been there for almost seven years now. This is an excellent school both spiritually and academically. I feel that the MAP scores are just as high and higher as the public schools in this area. My child also had a WONDERFUL 4th grade expereience with the same teacher the other person is talking about that did not have a good experience....The school is under a new superintendant now and he is making positive changes for our school. Our seniors are getting excepted into quality colleges and our sports programs are starting to excel. Our children are spiritually growing in their faith and are encouraged in positivel not negative ways. We are very happy with our overall experience at Maranatha.

My granddaughter and grandson have gone there.My granddaughter was in first graduating class and grandson is in fifth grade. They both have loved it and didn't mind the homework. Wonderful teachers, learned a lot and in a great Christian atomasphere. Very pleased

We have attended this school for several years. My son LOVED his 4th grade teacher and actually thinks it was his best year ever. The teachers have been nothing but caring and loving to our children. Although there have been a few concerns with administration in the past it has been nothing to leave the school over. No school is perfect and you can always find something with any school if you look under a magnifying glass. I can only speak for my family and say this is an excellent school in our opinion... Spiritually and Academically

Dont waste your money at this school. The administration is horrible and they dont do anything about your concerns. Everyone so excited about the new campus they forgot the mission of the school. They need to fire that superintendent and elementary principal and start over. Constant poor decision making.

Elementary lower grades are great; however, starting fourth grade please watch out as one teacher emotionally inflicts harm on students and administration does not listen. It was a terrible experience and we left soon after. There is a culture of hardline discipline that goes too far.
