If youre considering enrolling your high schooler for the upcoming senior year, Id strongly recommend looking at other high schools in the area. The MSHS class of 2027 is small and in theory could easily all be friends. Yet, they as a class choose to be clicky, mean, phony, and, not welcoming aside from a few students.

My student is an 11th grader at Manitou High School. He choiced into the district in the 9th grade. Overall, we have been fairly happy, because it is a smaller school, and you get all the pros and cons that come with that small-town feel. Class selection is very limited and has reduced significantly since we toured the school. The only language offered is Spanish ( they had German and French when we applied) . They do not have a large selection of electives, and even cut several English electives this year. They have an ok selection of Ap and honors classes and push those options.
The positive side is that the students are mostly respectful, and the teachers are great! The school has almost all of the typical sports, and will help students find activities at other schools if they don't have what they are looking for. They do a great job offering opportunities to check out post-school programs to help guide the students into an opportunity they may love. The Best part of the school is the class size, typically you have less than 16 students in a class!

Very impressed with this school! For a small school, the advanced course offerings are impressive...many AP and honors courses in every subject. The new leadership is professional, energized, and works hard to make all students feel welcome and safe. Also, it's clear that parent communication has become a top priority for all things like school information, student progress/grades, and extracurricular opportunities....of which there are many for a school this size! If you're a parent looking for a small school atmosphere where your child will become part of a supportive community, this is the place!

Both of my kids went through Manitou Schools K-12. My youngest is a recent graduate. We are not Manitou residents and have choiced our kids into the district. Both of our kids left Manitou with the skills and knowledge to be successful. Our oldest struggled in school but always had lots of support around him with teachers, coaches and Administrators that cared. Our youngest is thriving in College and we thank all the wonderful staff and coaches that supported her throughout. Sports played a huge factor for our kids. Being able to participate in multiple sports with wonderful coaches was a huge benefit. Small school size, quality education, lots of sports and activities, and great people and kids. Not sure what else you could ask for.

This is far and away one of the best schools in the Pikes Peak region. The benefits of a small school filled with exceptional teachers, coaches, and staff cannot be overstated. For a school this size, where every student is seen and supported to their full potential, MSHS offers SO MANY opportunities - sports, clubs, art, music, and innovative programs to support the needs and future pathways of ALL students. I cannot say enough positive things about this amazing school and those who show up 100% for its students, every single day.

I love working at Manitou Springs High School! I have worked in a variety of schools and at different levels. At MSHS, I have the best colleagues ever! There is so much support from colleagues and as a whole, staff and teachers love kids and want to work collaboratively and creatively to lift students and colleagues up. I have also seen many improvements in my 3 years teaching here. Our principal and assistant principal were new when I started and have worked really hard to put supportive and positive systems in place for both staff and students.

As for students, though the transition out of the pandemic was rocky, they are now back into school with enthusiasm and an interest in learning and growing. I commonly see students of different groups having genuine and positive interactions. For the most part, students are very accepting of each other and supportive of others. Manitou Springs is a town where creativity and out-of-the-box thinking are prized, and it shows in our schools.

Schools are always changing as our students and staff flow through, but I think MSHS is currently moving in a positive direction. I look forward to coming to work every day and teaching my students, who I would describe as good learners and wonderful and interesting human beings.

Manitou Springs High School is a small school with a big heart. The school is focused in relationships, deep learning, and opportunity. Relationships are key at MSHS. Class sizes are small (most of mine are about 12), and teachers and students really get to know each other. Teachers in most subjects have the autonomy to use the Colorado State Standards to create their own curriculum. This leads to relevance of materials and connections in the classroom.

MSHS has an exceptional Advanced Placement program. Many students take AP classes and do well in them, and this shows on the AP Honor Roll and in the number of AP Scholars recognized yearly. The learning in AP classes is challenging yet supportive, and students frequently reach out once they are in college to thank teachers for preparing them well.

Although MSHS is small, opportunities abound. There are multiple opportunities for students who want to start on a career pathway, including Career Start, Careers in Construction, and the blended learning program. Students can earn college credit in high school through dual enrollment, Degree Start, and Advanced Placement. We have visual and performing arts, Knowledge Bowl, Robotics, Journalism, Key Club, NHS, sports, and a variety of lunch time clubs for students to participate.

Overall, MSHS is a great little school. It is a place where students are known and supported. If that's what you are looking for, MSHS is for you!

Teachers and staff take the time to build relationships with students in addition to providing excellent instruction. They are a small school but offer 17 AP courses and many art classes to our students.

Manitou Springs is one of the best school in Colorado! Teachers, school admin, students, and parents all work really well together and put students first. Manitou care sincerely about keeping positive relationships with students and cares about their future. Whether that be going to college or directly into the working world, Manitou has paths for all students!

MSHS is a great small school with high academic achievement. My kids earned AP and Concurrent Enrollment credits and earned thousands in scholarships upon graduation. Great school to pick if your kiddo is college bound and is interested in being involved in extra-curriculars.

My son has attended here since elementary school and it has become intolerable anymore. Many of the great educators have abandoned ship and the ones who are left are scared to speak up. The regime changes have brought about many prejudices and lack of responsibility from the admissions and staff. They will not return calls or accept your call. Do not expect any assistance in enrollment unless youre coming with an attorney. I am happy we have moved to Old Colorado City and my son will attend/graduate at Coronado High.

Like every other student review says, looks good on the outside but sucks to attend. I've been at this school for awhile now and I have made no friends. The students treat most people like garbage, most of the teachers are rude and belittling and worst of all it has some serious drug problems 0/10 would never recommend. 1 star

This is the worst school my child ever attended. The staff is completely inept. Bullying and harassment is completely ignored staff. Teachers, counselors, and coaches are under qualified. The principal was so furious when we decided to leave that he told us and our child that our child would never graduate. Principal said that he would make sure that our child wouldnt be eligible to compete in sports when we transfer. This school is petty and ill-equipped to lead students.

This school is not as good as people might say. The bullying is bad here, kids will get made fun of if they a considered weird or different. It can be hard for some to make friends here because of people assuming that you are weird. People here also like to judge others, when they know nothing about that person. There are a lot of kids trying to get people in trouble, for no reason at all. The principle does nothing and doesn't do a lot to help with the problem. There are also lots of rumors that start in this school and this leads to bullying most of the time. Fights can happen in this school too, but it's very rare. There is kids that do drugs here but its nothing that is concerning or very serious. The teachers here can be nice and supportive. But some teachers don't know what they are doing and most of them assign a lot of homework. Which can be very stressful and leads to some kids being depressed. The school is a lost cause, because the staff never know how to deal with bullying or how to stop it. The bullying will continue and probably won't stop anytime soon. Instead of encouraging kids to snitch on people, they should encourage them to not bully and have better morals. In the end I hope this school becomes better for the students, and I hope there to a change in the future.

Its decent. If youre afraid your kid/you will get overwhelmed by a large school, then thisll probably be your best fit. of course theres going to be a few problems with stuff here and there, but with only less than 500 kids, its easy to make friends with people you relate to. Mrs. Mandel so far has helped and talked me through multiple panic attacks. ALSO MRS. WENDY AT THE FRONT OFFICE WILL BE YOUR ABSOLUTE BEST FRIEND JUST COME IN ON TIME OR WITH NOTICE OF ABSENCE AND BE NICE TO HER AND YOULL BE GOOD FOR THE REST OF HIGH SCHOOL. SHES A BLESSING TO HAVE IN YOUR LIFE!!

The teachers dont actually teach us, they really just give us the homework most of the time and say do it yourself. of course the only real way to get help is to either have a study hall (which is unlikely to get easily) or go in after school or during advisory, which are both extremely busy times for students.

most people are very accepting with other identities besides cisgender and straight, but a lot of kids are frustrated with lgbt+ kids flaunting it in their faces (when they really arent). slurs and derogatory things can be easily thrown about and most teachers wont defend students. there are a few teachers who truly accept kids no matter what though and have helped so many of us: Dr. Moen, Mrs. Kerrigan, and Mr. Slama... so far they have been my most favorite teachers and one i havent even had in any classes. so if youre going to this school and are afraid you wont be accepted, dont be afraid, because there are so many kids like you and a few teachers who will absolutely help. its just the bullying part thats bad.

Every one claims that this is the best school. But, really that's what it looks like from the outside. Some parents move their kids from other schools because the school has a "drug problem" but sending them here isn't any different. It is just as bad. The students here that I go to school with are rude and stuck up.
