Location: Schriever Air Force Base is located in El Paso County and 12 miles east of the city of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Colorado Springs is located on the eastern boundary of the Rocky Mountains with the 14,110 foot Pikes Peak to the west. Offering an ideal blend of business opportunity, culture and outdoor recreation, Colorado is home to more than 25 ski resorts and is a vacation haven that draws over 6 million visitors annually. Schriever AFB is home to the 50th Space Wing, elements of the Missile Defense Agency, Space Innovation and Development Center, 310th Space Wing and several tenant units.

Housing: Base housing opened on Schriever AFB, on 26 August 2009 by Tierra Vista Communities. There are 242 housing units. Each home has over 1600 SF, a two-car garage, covered porches for integrated indoor/outdoor living, spacious kitchens/ islands, ceiling fans with light fixtures in all bedrooms and living rooms. Housing residents have access to a Community Center, which houses a large conference room, an internet café, a multi-purpose room, an Olympic sized indoor heated swimming pool, a children's size pool and Splash Park, locker rooms and a playground. Tierra Vista Communities at Schriever AFB is conveniently located just twelve miles east of Peterson AFB. Tierra Vista Communities and the Schriever AFB Housing Office are located in the Tierra Vista Community Center, 300 Hartinger Circle. I love Colorado Springs. It’s my hometown, and in my opinion, being stationed there is amazing. You’re at the front door of the Rocky Mountains, in the state with the lowest obesity rate in the country (CBS News), with great schools and a fabulous area to raise a family.
