I have only been here a few weeks, but have been communicating with the school well before we got here. I have kids with ADHD but they are not by any means disabled by it. My son gets emotional at times so I wanted to talk to his teacher before he started school so she knew how to handle him in the case that he did have an issue in class. I also like to have him with a nurturing female because he works best with them. Ms. Day was very accommodating to us. My son and two daughters are all at this school this year and doing wonderful. I don't see why people would be complaining. Homework is part of school and as you get older you should expect more. 1 hour per grade year if you are doing more than that then your child is struggling and you need to talk to the teachers.

Most of the time she was effective, except when dealing with issues surrounding the music teacher.

Not enough staff and those you have do not have the time to devote to each learning style.

The music teacher is a bully...talking about students to other students, and nothing was done. It is still occurring by the way. I have the proof and will share it with the board of education in due time.

It was a great school for my son. They pulled him into the gifted program early and worked well with me when there were any concerns.

The TAG program only sees 3rd-6th grade.

Calls and emails are always promptly returned. This is the second year for this principal and she is great.

Classes are large, but the teachers do a remarkable job at breaking students out into small groups.

Great support with homework from teachers when my child struggled.

My child was on a read plan and he grew with many intervention remarkably. He is now reading at great level and is in the accelerated math program. Two thumbs up.

This school is absolutely amazing! My son (6th grade) has had his best year so far. The staff is highly trained with high expectations, but they are willing to go the extra mile to ensure success for all students. The students are caring, courteous, and supportive of each other. The administration listens while setting limits. We love this school!

There are way to many students per class 30. Each student doesn't receive the attention they need. The teachers and principal are not attentive and will just let your child fail (with or without notification). This isn't a good school. Look at their overall ratings and scores in the 6th grade before they go into middle school. I don't under stand teachers who don't take responsibility for their students success. I wish I never choiced to LPES.

The teachers say she shouldn't have to do more than 1 hr of homework a night, but if we did that we wouldn't be able to get our child to pass.

The teachers and principal lie to my daughter that's she's doing well and then give her bad grades. The teachers don't take pride in their students success. LPES will leave you child behind.

We have two children that have attended Lewis-Palmer Elementary for 6 years and we couldn't ask for a better, more supportive learning environment. We adore our new principal!
Teachers are strong, hard working, and take on countless challenges with a student's heart in mind. Our children pick up on the teachers' passion and thus build their own desires.
LPES offers music, PE, art, and library/technology in the schedule on a frequent basis. In addition, our children have an opportunity to participate in extra-curricular clubs like chess, cooking, rubik's cube, art, Battle of the Books, Girls on the Run, Land Sharks, and more! Additional resources exist such as counseling, school nurse, reading specialists, and additional educational/instructional supports. The building is well maintained beginning with a big smile at the office. LPES is a HOME for our children and as active parents, we couldn't ask for a more welcoming PTO. Thank you LPES! Highly recommended.

The communication at Lewis Palmer elementary school is wonderful. They always make sure you know what is going on and you are able to talk to the teachers face to face and they take the time to see you. Everyone at the school is wonderful.

Amazing teachers, wonderful staff, committed administration, and lots of quality parent involvement. I cannot say enough good things about this school! They have great programs for any level of learning ability. I had to move away from the area and after two years I still get choked up because I can't send my kids to this school any more. It really is that amazing. In the 6 years my oldest son was attended I only remember two very small bullying problems that happened when kids moved in from out of state who felt like that had something to prove. The incidents were dealt with quickly, professionally, and in a way that benefited everyone. It seemed like 99% of the time all of the kids, every age and grade, were all friends and all very respectful to each other. If you have the opportunity to send your children here, do it!!

Lewis-Palmer Elementary School is truly a neighborhood school, even for those families who "choice in". The moment you walk through the front doors, it feels like you are home. The front office staff is always warm & welcoming to parents & children alike. The teaching staff is bar none...the best of the best! They are patient & professional yet bond deeply with the students because of their high expectations. The principal is a large part of this equation because she is a parent & manages the school with a mother's love...firm when needed, tender when necessary and always incredibly balanced. Parents are welcome & highly involved! I love our home, neighborhood & friends but the true reason we will never move from Woodmoor is because of LPES!!

I have noticed that all the staff are very involved in the students and they make the parents feel welcome too. The curriculum is challenging for my 2nd grader and kindergartener and I am seeing them both rise to the challenge. I am very happy to have choice enrolled my kids to Lewis Palmer and look forward to the coming years there.

We have now been to 3 different elementary schools with moving. LPES has by far been the best of those schools. The teachers are wonderful, the parents and after school enrichments have been a great asset. I would highly recommend LPES over any of the schools in Colorado Springs.

I have 2 kids, boy in 6th Grade and girl in 3rd Grade. LPES offers the best GT program. We moved from NC to CO in 2008 and we are so pleased with the education our kids are receiving here. My son received highest honors May 2011 in the Explore Test offered through CBK. Ms Johnson, his GT Facilitator recommended this talent search. She is an amazing teacher among a staff of other great teachers! My daughter's teacher is Mrs Kaler, the best reading and writing teacher ever!! I am quite pleased with LPES!!

I have 3 kids one just finished College Always got straight A's in LPES and LPHS he says he will Never forget the Great Teachers! and two of my kids are still at LPES, I know all the Teachers and they are all Great!! they give so much to the kids of their own time and funds because they love what they do! wouldnt go anywhere else!!!!

Lewis Palmer Elementary School is a school of excellence. We moved to the school district two years ago and could not be more pleased. The school is always full of pride and cheer. The teachers are truly dedicated to each individual student's education and learning style. My children were able to adjust quickly to their new school and peers due to the nurturing and positive environment. One of my children has an IEP and the staff has been very patient and accommodating, ensuring that his educational needs are met and that the lines of communication are always open. It takes great teachers and staff to take the time to teach each individual based on their strengths, while helping to improve in areas of weakness. The only point of weakness I have seen thus far is, trying to find a way to connect with other parents and busy families.

Our family relocated to Monument in 2001 and our children are attending D38 public schools since 2004. From the beginning, we were impressed with the level of highly qualified educators, principals, and staff as well as the always very welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the building. Striving for excellence while looking at the "whole child" was always a goal for the school (as well as the entire district). Staying up-to-date with new technologies and best tools in the class room while being fiscally responsible and managing a balanced budget are also important achievements at our school. Our family never had to worry about what teacher our children will get after summer break, because they were all great but the teachers in collaboration with the principal and the support staff always matched them up with the best teacher. From "Gifted and Talented" to "Special Needs" - ALL children receive the attention and warmhearted care they deserve. You couldn't find a better school for your children.

My son attended LPES when we moved to Monument. It was his last year of elementary school and by far, his best. Teachers are highly skilled and hold high expectations for all students. They communicate with parents and involve parents in their child's learning. When you walk in the school, there is a feeling that is very positive and friendly. You are welcomed and embraced into the school. This school was a safe school for my child also. I was not aware of many behavior problems and what did happen was fairly and appropriately dealt with.
