I'm not sure why this school scores so highly. I suspect because they hold the bright students back and then at the end of th year tests they perform better than average. My child was not pushed or engaged in any way. Homework inconsistent from class to class. Issues with bullying that were not addressed and when I spoke to the teacher and principal, it was immediately a defensive approach. Principal can't even answer simple questions without an attitude. She's plain rude. As for the bullying. I found out later on that even after I addressed the issues, thought they were resolved, my child was paired up in the specials and had to share a locker with the girl who caused my daughter to feign illness so she could avoid school. Noone cares at all about the well being of the students and my daughter learnt nothing. In her new school she was in an advanced language arts and reading. She was 2nd grade with 5th grade reading ability. When I questioned her class teacher, I was told she was an average reader. Luckily her new school paid more attention and pushed her skills.

Mrs Ensign was a god send for our autistic son.

Principle really cares. She's always out interacting with kids etc.

While our Kindergarten teacher was amazing for our son who is high functioning. The special needs program was overwhelmed. I think this is pretty much common anywhere you go. We did IEP's and it looked good on paper, but they would pull him out for group "speech" which was how they worked on social skills. I don't think it was that effective. I think the reason we had a great experience was due to our teacher Mrs Ensign.

Overall it was awesome. Better than I would have expected. Lots of activities. I don't know how the teachers keep up this level of engagement.

Struggled w lunch room and bus bullying.

Posted: April 4, 2019

Very poor teacher interaction, homework not aligned to growth measures. No effective intervention.

Posted: April 4, 2019

Dispassionate. Mediocre. We struggled to get teachers engaged. Poor communication.

Posted: April 4, 2019

Nothing significant to report on this subject.

Posted: April 4, 2019

Dismissive. Two children doing okay here, disenrolled one. Leadership passed blame and was passive aggressive when I highlighted areas of concern.

Posted: April 4, 2019

Mediocre. I am very concerned about the population size outpacing leadership ability to manage. Risk of bullying and mediocre instruction.

I've had 4 kids at Bear Creek Elementary over the years, and i can always depend on the school.

I mentioned a bully on the bus, and the district yanked him off the route for the rest of the year.

To even get into the building, you have to push a button connected to an intercom/video camera and they ask you your business before buzzing you in.

Feel lucky to live in this district.

I was so impressed with this school. My son is in Kindergarten and is reading books, writing, doing basic addition and subtraction. More importantly he's excited about doing these things. They do "specials" daily which consists of rotating through art, P.E., music, and computer lab. His teacher is Ms. Porter, she is truly a great teacher and great at keeping the parents updated on what is happening each week.

My son receives homework each Monday that is due the following Monday. It's perfect for a Kindergartener.

I'm a former teacher with four children. I simply couldn't be happier with this school if I ran it myself! I would live here simply for the school! It exceeds my expectations, which are very high!

I have a son in the elementary school and I have to say I am so impressed with the amount of after school programs available to him. They are really good about getting everyone involved and having multiple activities that will fit many different kids of people. So I thank you for all you do for my child.

My children have been attending this school since fit's the grade. Now They're Both 4th And 5th. The last two years has been nothing but drama. There's so much bullying going on there. My children where both bullied. And the staff didn't seem to care so much. The last 3 weeks of school were the worst days. A child who obviously has mental issues bullied my daughter, he when as far as punching her on her chest. When i asked for my daughter to be in a different class, the told me that couldn't happen. They said it was also the end of the school year and that they wanted to "finish the year strong." I felt horrible, thank God we no longer attend. The staff really revealed who they truly where.
