Discovery High School

I've had kids that started from 2009-2025 so I've been exposed to many different teachers & a hand full of principals. In my experience the principal is the best principal & educator I've ever dealt with. Several of my children were diagnosed with ADHD when they were about 6 years old & since have struggled with teachers & principals mistreating them because of it. Unfortunately, it took until one of them went to this high school to finally be treated the way they need to be & handled the right way of they make bad choices. The only downside I experienced is one teacher who had a disagreement with my teen, name called them a profanity word that starts with a B. The teacher was not disciplined for said action also, the teacher never apologized to my husband or myself for handling the situation in the manner he did, either. My child apologized & then had to learn from home the next hexter, which I felt wasn't fair. Other than that, the school is pretty outstanding! They also have a class that all students have to take & pass before starting regular classes. It teaches them how to work in groups, problem solve with their peers the right effective way, use people & communication skills etc. Finally, they can earn more credits in a year then other high schools. I recommend this high school if traditional high isn't for you. No one shouldn't have to fit in a box ever! I feel at Discovery they don't have to!

The school does more class work then homework and they work through it in class.

It was great, it does a lot of hands on learning and one on one with the student. The only downside would be this is a alternative school for kids with trouble learning for staying focused in school. It also does not accommodate special needs.

Love this school! I attended this school for 3 of my 4 high school years and I am proud to say that I have never found a better school, principal but more importantly teachers. Thank you for making me who I am today.

Discovery offers an alternative to conventional learning through an enhanced teacher-to-student ratio for 9th-12th graders. Students soon find that they can experience new opportunities, in an environment where they have a better chance to thrive...and potentially earn their diploma.
