My daughter loved her 6 years at WESA. We requested WESA as our school of choice specifically for of the Arts program. WESA is the only Elementary school in D3 that offers 4th and 5th grade band or strings classes, this has enabled her to go into advance orchestra class for Middle school. The staff are caring about the students and went above and beyond my expectations.

Widefield Elementary School of the Arts(WESA) is a school that uses art integration as part of its curriculum in order to teach kids in a different and creative way. The school and district puts kids first. When we first started at WESA my daughter was barely at grade level due to be bored and not challenged. At WESA they continually monitored the students progress and address their weaknesses AND strengths and work with each child to help them achieve their fullest potential. My daughter went from barely 5th grade math and reading to 8th grade levels in both subjects. They teach children as a whole, but also addressing the individual in order to help each kid succeed to their fullest potential. They have regular school site accountability meetings that are open to community members and parents along with staff and district members. They regularly discuss the status of the students and school as well as their future goals and curriculum.
We have also been greatly impressed with school and district safety. The district and superintendent also hold regular meetings to keep them accountable to the local community, parents and students and staff. They go above and beyond to be transparent in all aspects especially in communication with parents using various methods.

Widefield Elementary is a phenomenal school that integrates different types of learning to engage ALL students. The staff is absolutely incredible, in tune with students need, and connects parents with students learning.

WESA has been a great place for my kids! The integration of Arts into academic areas has made for easy, quick learning to take place. The All School Musical was a highlight of the year for my kids and the ability to participate in two specials a day and after school clubs has helped them build friendships and skills that far transcend an academic setting. WESA focuses on "the whole child" by placing emphasis on more than just academics, therefore increasing academic abilities and creating a lifelong love of learning in my kids.

kindergarten homework is excessive. This school seems to push paperwork and includes very little hands on learning.
Posted: March 7, 2016
This school lacks structure and does not have a student handbook or clear understanding of what is tolerated or not tolerated within the behavior of the students. This school needs to have rules clearly stated and defined.

This school has some good teachers but the over all feel in the school is sad. The faculty seem to be friendly enough. The teaching is focused on pushing paper with very little imaginational or creative learning. The children get very bored and lose focus. The teachers have very little input in the curriculum as it is set up by an umbrella teaching style. The safety in this school is lacking in many ways from sidewalks falling apart and large holes to trip in to lack of proactive action regarding dangerous behaviors from students.

Widefield Elementary is a music/fine arts focus school. I believe that my daughter gets a nice well rounded education there. I find the teachers to be very compassionate and they work hard to help the students and community. Most importantly, the current principal is absolutely amazing. I have never seen a principal take this role and truly care for the students and staff as much as she does. This past year Widefield Elementary had the highest test scores out of all of the other elementary schools in the district!

some teachers treat parents as though they don't matter. the principal and the counselor along with the office secretary and most other office staff are very pleasant. the counselor always does her best to solve issues, she is a great lady. principal always very delightful. though the teachers bad attitudes really put a damper on this school though. even when a teacher is wrong for what they say or do the rest of the staff protects them and blows off what the parent is concerned with. when telling a teacher you disagree with a method used they will directly tell you No they will not change anything for you. Also it is very outdated and low budgeted and the children don't have much variety, so much paperwork ( and tons of paperwork for homework). yet they do a new fundraiser nearly every week or two. it is very overwhelming. i honestly wish we never moved into this district to begin with.
