Large homework packets sent home at beginning of week as well as additional work that time was not made for in class. Teachers have confirmed there was not enough time in the day to complete the work so it was sent home to be done along with the HUGE packet that was sent!

There are a few teachers who are amazing, but they are few and far between. The rest think they have the right to speak to your child how they please because a parent is not around to say anything.

If strong character is developed by allowing children to use derogatory names towards one another and threaten each other, then they are doing it. The children are allowed to be awful to one another and the principal and vice principal do nothing about it when it is brought to their attention.

This school allowed a racial name to be used multiple times to a friend of mines child and we were told it would be investigated. Nothing came of it. Another child constantly threatened my daughter with some pretty graphic violence and we were told it would be investigated, in the mean time they refused to remove the child from the room with my daughter and allowed her to harass her until we moved schools.

This school is the worst school I have ever seen! We are military and have seen many, and this one takes the cake! The principal and vice principal should not be employed if they are not going to do their jobs. They allow threats of violence, racial names, and harassment to take place in the school and do nothing. They get upset with parents when the parents call and keep coming to the school over the problems. I had to remove my children because of how bad this school was. My youngest would call home almost everyday wanting to come home because of the threats that no one was doing anything about. My oldest child was being called names and being harassed by another child and the school did nothing. We pulled them out of the school mid year because of the problems knowing we had called all of the schools in our district and no one had space for them. We chose to home school then because leaving them in that school was not an option for even one more day. Find another school. If your child ends up one of the unfortunate ones to be bullied, this will be what your kids get to deal with if they go to this school.

We love the school! In our experience the teachers were very helpful and approachable. I saw growth in both of my students over their first few months at the school. They enjoy school and are happy there!

Sunrise ES does not met the one star rating more like -0 just as bad as As Pikes Peak Prep.
Record record record all interaction with the staff.
The Principal will avoid u if u have been made a target by speaking up for ur student (s) A certain 5th grade teacher is horrible . Doucument all contact.
Write letters to the principal and the school board about ur concerns . When all else fails Write to the office of the civil rights of education. Even if ur complaint are not follwed though it does not look when they need funding.
Horrible schools, horrible staff not all but a good portion of them.
THE music teacher works really hard and it shows.
Please u have young boys do some research on the sex Co-ed education video before giving ur consent.
Good luck

My son and daughter both go to this school and they love the teachers. My son had some issues early on and with the help of the teaching staff has completely overcome them and has gotten A's and B's all 4 years. Just look at the test scores for evidence of how great this school is.

With the new grading system its hard for teachers to be effective. Its our way or the highway.

If the office staff does not like your student they will talk about them in front of the student and treat them like they are plague. They r so fake.

This is a great school. It has a great environment for the kids and there are always many activities throughout the school year. My son has been here for kinder and 1st grade and has excelled both school years. Great teachers, and everyone who works here always seems very happy and friendly.

I got 52% on my math test, I show my mom and she say teacher is wrong : 123-23=100 but teacher say it's wrong 24 is answer, i show her she say oh , okay. They will loose your work and that jell at you but than they will find . Because they sad they did not have but than find you will have bad grade! I student of this bad school!

My son goes to Sunrise and I couldn't be happier. I always get homework. I eat lunch w/ him. I love how quickly they can get the entire school quiet quickly in the auditorium. I can drop by and sit in my son's class anytime. Some of the comments below that are negative .... its like really!!! Great school. I love it. I cannot wait for my 3 daughters to attend. If you do your job prior to your child starting school, they will soar greatly at Sunrise!!!

After moving around a lot, we have been lucky to find this school for the past 3 years. My eldest daughter has gone there from 2nd till 4th grade and my other daughter was in kindergarten this year. Mrs Carlton is one of the best principles I have ever meet, she forms a relationship with each child and the entire staff follows suit. I have had difficulties with some of the teachers, but Mrs. Carlton always wants what's best for the student and works with parents. I have been able to volunteer a lot at the school, even bringing my infant along to help. It was real easy to get involved and make a difference.

What happened to all the good teacher? I know of one maybe 2 in the entire school. My children have been going to this school since kindergarten. My oldest is in the 3rd grade now and neither of my kids will be back next year. I have asked several times from the teachers that they help me out, send home parctice sheets on areas that the kids need help with. I have hired a tutor for the kids, but we cant teach if we dont know what is being taught. My daughter is being bullied, not by other kids, but by teachers! I am so fed up with this school, I have no idea how they got their ranking, but its way wrong.

My son attended Sunrise from 1st-5th grades. Initially we were very pleased with the staff and the curriculum. By the time he reached 5th we had several concerns that weren't being addressed. My son was not being challenged and the only solution they had for us was to give him additional work. We wanted him to be challenged, not to be made to feel like he was being punished with additional work. Also, there were a couple disruptive children in his class that demanded much of the teachers attention which took away from the students who deserved the teachers focus. When we brought this up we were told there was nothing they could do. We made the decision to move our son to a school that challenges him and allows him to excel in his areas of strength and still provides him great assistance in weak areas and all the while promoting strong character and integrity as a person. Leaving Sunrise was the BEST educational decision we could have made for our children.
