The teachers love the students. The students seem to make friends well. It has a smaller community feel with the fun clubs, fall festival, and cute concerts.

I have had a kid in this school since Kinder, and one that was in the SSN program for a couple years. All the teachers are very caring, supportive, and communicative. Very low teacher turnover. Admin and support staff are also great and the PTA is extremely involved. It is a wonderful, close-knit community!

My daughter has been at this school since Kindergarten. The teachers at Prairie Hills are very involved and invested in their students. In second grade, my daughter had some health challenges and the school partnered with us to make sure she did not fall behind. She has great friends and feels loved and included at school. Her teachers makes her excited about learning. There are so many clubs at this school: chess, keyboard, Lego, game board club and garden club, just to name a few that she has been in!

Homework is often differentiated to meet the needs of my kids! Teachers are always willing to help. I love the tutoring program. The tutors share ideas on things that we can do at home. PHES offered a summer reading program in the school's garden. It was awesome!

There is a daily wellness time each morning. Each class starts with team building and emphasis on the 3Bs. These are be respectful, be responsible and be a problem solver. The school focuses on a different character trait each month.

We love how involved kids are and how welcoming the students are. Our child can't wait to be a student ambassador. PHE has so many activities for kids! Staff bends over backwards to support students. Great support system. We love their special days for kids (Fun Run, STEAM Day, Arts Day, Health Jam, Dads and Digits, Literacy Day, etc.).

Not only did my son end up with a concussion at the bus stop after being pulled off the special ed bus and me telling the transportation personnel about the problem child, but I was not allowed to even have a meeting with the bully's parents at the school. The principal was unable to communicate with me and the assistant principal continued to protect the bully student. My son could have died on their watch at the school as it took over 4 hours to finally hear from the school about his odd behavior. I would not send my dog to this school. Choice into a better school especially if you have a special needs child or a child that has issues with other kids bullying them.

Despite having straight As at this school, he ranked low on his social studies testing and is currently struggling in his new school year. He rarely had homework and is behind in most of his school subjects.

The guidance counselor at this school feels that when incidences occur, all parties should be held responsible for outcomes even if your child is injured from another child's bad behavior.

I'm sorry, but the people who left negative reviews may be children and possibly from other schools. Their sentence structure, grammar and spelling is terrible. Over the last 12 years, I've known many children who attended this school. They and their parents rave about it! Remember that schools can only be as good as the parents are at parenting. It's always a good idea to visit your neighborhood school before making a final decision on where your children will attend.

Over all great school! The Principal is very supportive of the students and parents concerns. Love the after school clubs they have and fun nights the Ora put together for the kids! Keep doing fun stuff for the kids to be engaged with the school

This is our second year, first full year and our LAST, absolutely HORRIBLE ADMIN!! The teachers are great and they are leaving in the masses, this year alone my son was supposed to have one 3rd grade teacher but on day 1 she got another job and left her replacement was a 23 year old fresh out of college who we worked with but had NO help from the admin, she was over her head and her whole class suffered, 4 kids dropped out during the year to be home schooled and we just got notice she is leaving to go else where, along with 3 other teachers. Good teachers leave because of the admin, they don't get involved and are annoyed when you ask them to. There are no clubs except Landsharks and some measly excuses for tutoring, we have choiced out, DO NOT GO HERE. I agree with the other post on here, they allow bullying and their positive reinforcement is bull!!

This is our first year at this school and it will be the last. The administration at this school are the absolute worst type of people in charge. My child had a few incidents with bullies at the beginning of the school year and as a result of that has been unfairly singled out if anything else has happened where my child has been involved. Meaning he has been labeled a "trouble causer" when he was the victim and has been unjustly treated ALL YEAR LONG. My input on his consequences for the many things were he was a victim not the instigator, has fallen on deaf ears. The assistant principal rules with an iron fist and thinks she is god at this school and her word is the final one. The current principal is of the same mind. The administration has meetings with your kids when there is a supposed "incident" that you won't find out about from them only from your kids, this is very troubling and inappropriate to me. RUN as fast as you can from this school and this district for that matter. There is no accountability at any level and zero transparency and communication. If you try to speak to the superintendent you get the run around. D-20 is touted as the best in Colorado Springs but that is the polar opposite of what my kids and I have experienced in one school year. The administration needs to be fired and charged with harassment.

School fits the profile. He was bullied, communication with teachers are not happening. Very disappointed, wasted school year for my child and the school placement was a joke! This will be my child's last year with IEP. My child has been unhappy all year long and not liking this school. Also, d-20 refused to allow my child to attend the IB school across the street from his house, our neighborhood is assigned too.

I am the proud parent of three children that have attended or are currently attending and I cannot praise the school, teachers and staff enough. As a Real Estate professional I am constantly keeping myself up to date on the schools within our community and I feel this is the perfect place for my children. Keep up the good work!

This is a great school! The principal works hard to educate her staff on current best practices and strives to create a safe and engaging learning environment. While there has been a large turnover in staff, it is all for better. The students at this school are learning important 21st Century Skills that will prepare them for thier future. The staff is very supportive towards their students and strive to help every student achieve.

Looking forward to some positive changes for the 2013/2014 school year. Prairie Hills has gone through some tough times these past few years with the new principal a couple of years ago and a lot of changing staff. Hopefully this school can become as GREAT as it once was. Let's do it for the kids!!

1 of my children went here for a year. It was awful. She would have received a better education had she stayed home and watched tv all year. When The Classical Academy accepted our child into their school, we had no hesitation accepting their offer. Sadly, she was nearly a full year behind due to the time lost at Prairie Hills. The staff is uncooperative. They will tell you what you want to hear, then do whatever they want. There is no follow-through. Our experience was very poor. The school leadership was not present at all. We never ever met with the principal in spite of several requests. If I could give less than 1 star, I would.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. The staff/administration is very hands off. If you have an issue. Know that you will not have the support of the principal. As always, attitudes come from the top down. There are many schools in the district. Don't count on the school supporting you for ANY modification for your child. Parent involvement is seen as annoying and the principal is patronizing.

I have 2 kids that go there and the school and staff is wonderful and never had any problems with them. They went through and redone the hold SSN program and it is alot better than before. No problems at all with any aspect of the school or the teachers or principle and administration there.

This is an amazing school! The staff bends over backwards to provide support for students. They have a schoolwide intervention/enrichment time everyday for all K - 5 students. Students are given extra support to enhance their learning. Everyone is caring and puts the needs of children first. We love how they individualize to meet the various needs of children.

This is the worst school I have ever seen! My son has special needs and was neglected and bullied so badly at this school by students, subs, paras and other staff. I have also never seen an Admin staff go to such great lengths to cover up issues at a school.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS SCHOOL. I am saddened that such a beautiful school is ran so poorly. The Principal acts disgruntled and is not approachable at all. She never even greets parents or students. The Admin team as a whole is non-responsive to issues that arise, regardless of whether the issues are academic or concerns regarding bullying. My child has had two teachers who were worse than incompetent, and very uncaring. The worst is that my child was injured in the classroom, and the school is trying their best to bury it. The child who harmed my son was only suspended for a few days. I regret not transferring my child when we first had problems in first grade. We did so in order to not disrupt our child socially, but in retrospect, it was not worth his academics suffering and being injured on top of that. I hope that this review reaches out to parents out there, so that they don't have to suffer as our family has at the hands of this terrible school. Additionally, most parents in the community are not at all engaged in their children's education.

Both of my children have attended Prairie Hills since 2006. All of their teachers have been very devoted, caring, and sensitive to their individual needs. They were challenged and motivated to be their personal best. The principals over the last four years have been responsive and reached out to the community to help parents be involved and come into the school to volunteer and spend quality time with their children. The curriculum is rigorous and engage students in collaboration with one another and at other grade levels. They even do a school-wide intervention/acceleration time for all students 4 days a week. This school is committed to helping each child achieve and succeed.

My daughter attended this school during the 2009-2010 Kindergarten school year. The positives are: The facilities are very nice and the Kindergarten teacher was a good fit for my daughter. She did the best she could with 25 kids. The after school program is fantastic, they worked one on one with my daughter, and I always felt safe with her being there. The negatives: I was less than pleased with the "specials". My daughter attended a private school the year before and had displayed a greater interest in her specials there rather than at Prairie Hills. In fact, her chief complaint was that they were "boring" and all they did was "watch movies". Why on earth did I pay $215.00 a month in tuition for my daughter to watch movies during her specials? Not only that, she DIGRESSED tremendously in Spanish.
