I was blessed to grow up on the FVS campus, first as a faculty child, then as a student who met his future wife there, and later as a parent watching our two daughters be shaped by the very same extraordinary community. At FVS, our daughters were truly seen, thoughtfully challenged, and deeply supported, giving them the confidence to find their voices and the courage to become thoughtful, resilient, and compassionate leaders. The school did far more than educate our daughters; it helped them discover who they are. FVS has touched every generation of our family, and the gratitude we feel runs deep.

Fountain Valley School has been an incredible experience for both of our high schoolers in 10th and 11th grade this year. Our daughter found Fountain Valley School through her research, we were looking into being on a campus where our teens can be closer to nature, exchange with individuals from various cultural backgrounds, and learn in a supportive, challenging and kind learning environment amongst peers and teachers. The campus itself is breathtaking, since their freshman year every time we arrive, we feel a sense of peace and appreciation for the land, seeing the horses on the prairie, the birds, the open space. Its a nourishing place for young people to learn and grow. Fountain Valley inspires curiosity and gives students the courage to challenge themselves while truly understanding and engaging in the world around them. The teachers are amazing and genuinely invested in each student, both my daughter and son have shown so much growth through the presence of their teachers. The environment is kind, compassionate, and supportive, exactly what we hoped for. The diverse student community, local, national and international, has added so much to their experience. Our kids are also athletic and have loved the athletic center, climbing gym, and the chance to try multiple sports. The choices and availability of afternoon activities and rotating sports, the amazing theater productions and Art barn ( including pottery, metal smithing, videography,etc.. ) are so wonderful to have in the same space engaging, body, mind and heart. We are grateful every day that our children are growing up in such an enriching environment and grounded community.

Fountain Valley School provides my son with a tribe of acceptance, challenging him with growth and leadership opportunities, experiential learning opportunities, exposure to programs that he didn't know he would have an interest in (music, theater, after school programs, etc.). The communication from his advisor, dorm parent, teachers, are always honest, thoughtful, and meaningful. FVS is not for everyone, and that's ok, for the students that this environment works - I am watching them soar and excel - being ready for their next chapters in life. Highly recommend!

I have really enjoyed being a student at Fountain Valley! The community is super kind and welcoming. Also, there are many unique opportunities like rock climbing, pottery, and video editing. One thing that has stood out to me has been meeting and talking to students from different countries. Overall I would recommend FVS!

The people are very inclusive and always looking for ways to problem solve and offer support. There is plenty of time for one-on-ones with teachers and they focus a lot on individual learning. There are tons of affinity groups and communities that encourage global involvement. The community has found a way to support and honor their students.

My daughter attended this school and she felt as though she was stuck in Groundhog Day as she described it. Poor academics, poor student behavior, poor teaching with the exception of a few great teachers. She breezed through the entire year with an A+ average and she barely worked at it. My child is smart but for grades like that I would have expected a bit more hard work and struggle. The teachers come and go and the ones they keep do whatever they want without any recourse. At least half of my childs teachers left this past year. They also hated the school. This is a school that clearly has a population of kids that either A. cant handle it at a larger school because they have mental/social/behavioral issues, B. the parents believe their child is so above everyone else because all the family knows is the CO schooling system and they believe their child is highly intelligent, and C. last but not least, their kid has behavioral problems and the parents can not tolerate their child so they ship them off to a boarding school. My family has since learned this school is the laughing stock of many of Colorado Springs families etc. We always wondered why we got weird looks when we told people where our child was attending school. School has a bad reputation .Now we know.
We paid full tuition for my child to breeze through with A+ as she described an 8th grade education for her freshman year.
We are from another part of the country where the public schools and private schools are very high level to say the least. 7th and 8th grade kids being bussed to the public high school to attend AP Calc is the norm. To say this school is a joke is an understatement. Do not waste your money. BELIEVE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS! The positive ones are planted by the school.

It's extremely hard to review a boarding school as largely whatever students get out of it is directly related to what they put in. However, this school has a bullying problem (very much a laissez faire view of destruction of student's property and the like) that leads me to recommend anyone considering this for their student to look carefully at what "group" their student is in. Additionally, if this school is recruiting your student for a sport MAKE SURE TO GET A CONTRACT that stipulates X # of years, as they recently got rid of their soccer sports team and decided to drop all recruited students midway through the first semester leaving their parents struggling with the decision what to do with the rest of the student's high school career and if they wanted to keep the student in the school for the rest of the year or not. Great educational chops, but the dean of students and the various house parents aren't remotely as good, and the focus on sports is very much hit and miss.

If you are a parent that hope to find an environment that can help and support their children best, just pick another school. There is no diversity both among students as well as teacher(look at the chart fvs is an obvious white kid school). The international program is expensive and the school does not care if your kid is working hard to success. The teachers are judgmental and horrible in helping student that need a chance. Depression in fvs is normal, the school only want your money:)

Fantastic school with strong academic programs, welcoming community, and an experience you will not find elsewhere. I found the transition to college much easier than peers who attended other high schools. I am now working to complete my degree at a top tier university on scholarship and could not be more grateful for my high school experience.

The best investment you will ever make is in the education of your child. You will not regret choosing FVS. The school offers academic rigor in an environment that embraces compassion & acceptance. My 2 children attend FVS - just a few words of praise include pride, kindness, challenge, diversity, individual growth, recognition, lifetime friendships. The sense of community amongst staff, students and parents is powerful. FVS offers diverse curriculum, global & cultural awareness, exposure to international students, endless learning opportunities in and out of the classroom. Classes are small. Educators are approachable & interactive. The staff really care. Counseling and support, whether in regard to college admissions or just being a teenager, is outstanding. Sports/activities are vast, from hockey to volleyball, theatre to pottery, equestrian to an on-campus world-class climbing gym. For day students and boarders, the opportunity to attend FVS shouldn't be missed!
