I was a student at Jenkins middle school, they say they are anti bullying but that’s just for show. They only care about the “bright” students. Teachers don’t care neither does the administration. I got jumped and the only reason the school “couldnt do anything “ was because I had to defend myself. The security guards are weird and use their authority to scare students. The principal doesn’t care either and he only cares for high grade scores that make the school look better. There was physical fights between students all the time. They once searched me without having told my parents first and even after. They made me jump, shake my bra and bend over, all that to try and find a vape. That was an extremely unprofessional and inappropriate way to do that. I haven’t actually spoken up about the things that happened at this place, but I am now. And I wouldn’t be surprised if if this gets deleted but they know.

As a former student at Jenkins Middle School, my experience was very different from the image the school portrays. While there were some dedicated teachers, I often felt that the administration did not take student conflicts seriously. The school frequently experiences issues with fighting, verbal abuse, and physical threats among students.

I personally felt unsafe during my time there and was nearly jumped on multiple occasions. During my final year, I was involved in a physical altercation that stemmed from ongoing issues the staff failed to address, despite clear warning signs.

The school markets itself as a caring, anti-bullying environment, but in my experience, the reality was the opposite. Students dealing with bullying or serious conflicts often felt unsupported and forced to fend for themselves rather than being protected by the faculty.

While I did not have a positive experience overall regarding safety and school culture, I would like to recognize a few staff members who were exceptions. Mr. Hardy was an excellent history teacher who was always willing to help, and Ms. Williams was incredibly kind and supportive. Additionally, Mrs. Drummond and Mrs. Getzelman were both fantastic science teachers, and Mr. Roden and Mr. Rochie made learning engaging and fun. Mr bunge and Mrs Walker were always fun to be around and I loved having them as teachers as well. 

Despite these positive interactions with individual teachers, I felt compelled to share my perspective on the school's failure to maintain a safe and supportive environment for its students.

Terrible. Kids being sent to in school suspension without any explanation. Teachers and counselors say they will support your child or reach out to you and they don't. Terrible communication. Teachers are to reach out for parent teacher conferences and they do not. They don't support your child. Majority of Teachers and staff dont care. Very unfortunate.

My child has attended Jenkins for three years now. I do have to say it has gotten better since the new leadership came last school year. Unfortunately, the teachers in this building are so disregulated. My kiddo has always loved school. His teachers have always been super supportive and positive, but at Jenkins, the teachers overall are negative, get angry easily, and do not create a welcoming environment for the changing population at Jenkins. There are some amazing teachers in this building, but the negative ones make it hard for students to feel confident and welcomed. The counseling has been great here though. The new admin team appears to be making some positive changes, but students spend a majority of time with the teachers in the classroom, and the teachers need an attitude adjustment.

Jenkins has done a great job of making it easy for parents to communicate with the teachers. Any questions I have had with regard to my child’s classes have been quickly answered. My child really enjoys going to Jenkins. She feels that the teachers are caring and kind. There are a number of clubs for students to join. It is a welcoming environment.

We recently moved closer to Jenkins, so we could be in the boundaries & it was the best move. The community is so supportive and welcoming. My daughter loves the school and teachers. The PTA is very involved & is always doing fun stuff for the students and staff. I’m so glad we made the move that we did, because we’ve had nothing but positive things to say about Jenkins.

Jenkins Middle School is a good school. A parent can easily communicate with their kid's teacher, the new administration cares about the students and if a parent has any concerns, the school will work with them.

My son really enjoys classes like Personal Finance and Leadworthy. Overall, this has been a good experience.

Amazing school! So happy my kid goes to Jenkins. I have been impressed with his teachers all 3 years. Principal Joiner is fabulous, the counselors are full of information and take the time to talk about any questions or concerns I have had. The front office staff is friendly and very helpful. All around this is a wonderful school. I will miss it when my son does to high school next year.

Jenkins Middle School has been a great choice for our family. I have a daughter who went through 7th and 8th grade and a son that is in his 2nd year here. The teachers and administrators are helpful and kind. We have been very pleased with the music (orchestra and jazz band) and arts programs here. My daughter was prepared for high school and is thriving because of good habits established here. My son is engaged in learning and they have worked with his learning style. I am so glad we chose Jenkins!

I moved in the middle of the school year after researching this school and it has lived up to my expectations. The teachers and staff have been very solution oriented with any concerns I might have brought up concerning my child. The communication between teacher, student, and parent is very transparent. I feel secure with my child in this school. The students seem to have more manners and are friendlier than the other school my child attended.

Now that my son is moving on to high school, I think we're going to really miss Jenkins Middle. Through 8th grade he had excellent teachers. Mr Kulbacki and Mr Pickering especially went above and beyond! Thanks and GO JAGS :)
