This is the worst school my kids have ever been exposed to! We moved here from another state recently and from day 1 this has been the worst experience my kids and I have ever had. Moving from the south to here this was a cultural shock to experience such bad school conditions. I hope when we are able to move that the other districts are not like this. After not even 2 weeks of attending this school I had to remove them from the school for teacher bullying and misconduct especially the band teacher! My kids are not trouble makers did nothing and were verbally humiliated daily by the band teacher for no reason. The office staff are extremely unprofessional and rude. I am from the south where school is a safe place and I didn't feel my kids were safe going to this school. Now my kids are in online public school. The registration lady mentioned I'm not the only person who has pulled their kids from that school it seems to be a pattern! That school should be shut down! Even other students were telling my kids all the teachers there are bad. The district needs to take a really deep look into that school. Not all students have the options to do online schooling and have to suffer in those situations. I would avoid this school at ALL COSTS!

The counselor of this school grossly mishandled the 504 Plan process by planning a meeting with the teachers and my ex-husband, then had the audacity to refer to me as a no-show. I was the parent who initiated the process, so this is inexcusable. This misstep was brushed under the rug. It also caused the tension within our family dynamic and affected the outcome of my son's 504 Plan process. No accountability was taken for this. After hearing my son do everything shy of begging for support, the school ultimately delayed his opportunity to receive support. The outcome was predetermined and this was apparent when the counselor originally set up the 2nd 504 Plan meeting (so I could attend) deliberately for the day before school gets out.

I have been here since 7th grade and as of now I am finishing 8th grade. This school is horrible. Fights happen very often, and the students have just given up. The amount of homework at this school has me stressed out so much that I contemplate just giving up to. Do not go here if you can

So uhm basically super terrible school, i get harassed and the school does pretty much nothing about it. I have asthma and the gym teachers forced me to run until i needed my rescue inhaler, and the running also almost made my friend almost pass out. Fights almost on the daily, so much that we are able to easily walk past them. Little accommodation for kids that dont have severe forms of disabilities too. Plus, the milk at our school is very close to expiration, and i have seen food being thrown and smeared on the walls and floors outside. Someone really wrote hi in smeared orange juice on the outside wall, rotten food can be found everywhere and the basketball hoops look very broken and not taken care of. I have also seen slurs written on walls and said on the daily by kids, and the school seems to do nothing about that too. Lastly, (some) of the honors programs arent even really honors classes with advanced courses, but just slightly faster versions of the same exact classes, its just too easy, and they seem to have only really made them like that to meet district standards or something. But mostly, the school here is really only fun for the drama and chaos, but it is mostly a terrible school. BYEEE!!

I had both my kids attend skyview and had a great experience with teachers and staff. My eldest now attends Vista Ridge HS and my 13 year old is attending skyview.

Back in December last year the mother of my daughter passed away and my daughter found her. The dean, Shauna Anderson disclosed the incident to another student that my daughter was having problems with at the time without my daughters consent while my daughter was not present in the room.

All three of my children went to skyview middle school. They have very supportive extracurricular activities. My first child experience drama and plays and was in multiple musicals. My second started running in middle school and playing basketball. He was varsity in high school and also broke records for Vista Ridge. My youngest is finishing her last year at skyview. She has learned to play three different instruments. My older two kids took advanced classes and college level classes in high school. My oldest received her two-year college degree as a senior at Vista Ridge. Skyview helps students be successful for high school. Middle school is a difficult age of students and skyview does a very good job keeping these children supported, loved, and preparing for adulthood.

Pretty bad school: terrible teachers, disgusting lunches, clueless counselors, very cheap. Not recommended, please don't send your kids here. (Especially special education, bullying is a serious problem here)

We heard a lot of rumors about this school before my daughter attended about safety, bullying and discipline inside the school. We chalked this up to maybe people just being too hard on the school. My daughter has had on multiple occasions young men try and grab her, touch her hair and she has witnessed this happen to other students. We have and will continue to fill out "incident reports" with the school. Ultimately I hope the staff can get these situations under control but after experiences like this with other parents over the last few years.....enough is enough. I know most kids in middle school are really just trying to figure out their place, adjust to new experiences and I am certain some don't always have the best home lives. But putting your hands on another student should not be tolerated. We need better standards, classes and instruction on behavior and better accountability from those causing these situations and staff.

It saddens me we will probably be looking for a new middle school next year like so many other parents have done.

My experience at this school was horrible, I have never disliked myself as much as I did 6th grade year when I went there before the pandemic hit. The school promotes anti bullying yet so many kids get told to kill themselves daily. So many horrible things come out of these students mouths and they never get any punishments for it . There was not one single day you could go to school here and not get body shamed, picked on or threatened and if it wasnt you that this stuff was getting said to then It was people like your class mates or friends. I never saw something to be wrong with me till I went here and lost ever ounce of self a steam I had.

I went to SMS for 6th grade only. I was bullied for no reason. When I told the principal, he was aware and he would talk to them. But I almost got suspended because of those awful stories the bullies told. Terrible School. It went so far that my parents had to pull me out at the end of the 2019-2020 School year. Im sorry if Skyview is reading this but Im being honest about my experience at SMS.

The teachers do not care about their students and do not care about bullying. The school principal doesnt even care. They took away my autism. The IEP was very long.

Mr. Bonyng doesnt care if his students are being bullied. He is aware but he still threatens you to be suspended or detention for LIFE

My experience at this school so far is disappointing. The amount of homework given to students gets to be very overwhelming at times. Though many of the teachers do care about students, the schooling system itself is less than satisfying. Many students at this school are also disrespectful and not well-behaved. Even though this school promotes anti-bullying, I personally haven't seen anyone take action. A lot of students also seem unlikely to listen to the lessons given on anti-bullying. Skyview is also overcrowded, so classes are very distracting due to the large number of students. Because of this, it is very hard for some students to direct their attention to a lesson for extended periods of time. I have seen a lot of unhappy students because of Skyview's schooling system. Also, I know the school is probably reading this... Sorry, but I'm just being honest about my experience here.

This schools grading system is completely messed up. Most classes only add up to a couple hundred points for the whole quarter (leaving very little room for the students to not be perfect all the time), and the weighting is set by the teacher (so they can make tests 50% of the grade if they want). Don't get me wrong I very high expectations for my child but when they can't even have an off day once in a while or they fail it is very discouraging. My child has completely given up. The teachers are constantly texting and don't seem to care about their class. My child is constantly bullied. It's so bad that even the quieter children jump in and make very inappropriate comments. Why wouldn't they when members of the staff are just as bad. Hate breeds hate. The administration has changed so much in 3 years I think it speaks volumes about the issues. I know any concerns I have voiced have been meant with a smile, but when I follow up nothing has been done. I don't think they expect anybody to followup because the smiles turn to frowns very quickly. Terrible school!

I first reviewed this school as 4*'s a year ago. I really jumped the gun on this one. After another miserable year of experience I have absolutely changed my mind. I have watched kids at this school loose interest in trying and the test scores show exactly what I am talking about. I believe there are a few teachers that really care but this is also becoming fewer and fewer. When your own child says she would concider leaving all her friends to go to another school for a better education something is wrong. I very disappointed that this school has gone down hill so much and the pattern is continuing into Vista Ridge HS. I hope this school can get its act together before my 4th grade student has to consider going out of the district to get the education we all expect for our kids.

Although, myriads of parents hypothesize that Sky View Middle School has a great behavior, I disagree. There are a tons of reasons First of all, the students use very inappropriate language, students are rude, disrespectful, don`t follow district rules and behavior, Secondly multitudinous of staff/bus drivers use bad language as a result; the first month of school the sixth graders arrive they start picking up bad language like having a mouth full of almonds that spurt out in a month of hearing language throughout the school. Least of all there are students that use inappropriate body language in the hallways staff stand right next to this situation. they see students ,but do nothing to stop it as if saying "I don`t care". The ignorance is like a vanishing world of DISRESPECT. Now what are you going do about this? Zoom!

I think Skyview MS offers the kids a pretty good education. As a parent of a 6th grader, I find the the students can get a little overwhelmed at first. There is alot of stuff being crammed their way. This is where parents have an opportunity to step up for their kids and help them out. The school gives you a website that tracks your student(s) assignments and here is where you can really help your kid(s) stay on top of everything. i usually get a alert or e-mail for missing or late assignments along with when large projects are due. I have found this very helpful to help keep my kid on track. I felt that because I stayed on top of everything that I could, together she did really well for her first year. My only complaint is not about the school but about how much information that are required to learn in a given year. i feel that they need to slow down some and allow the kids to actually soak in some of the information. I would much rather have mastered some skills then say "I think I remember something about that but I forgot." Anyway, I think a school can only be as good as the effort that is put into it. That includes teachers, students, and parents.

My 8th grader switched to Skyview Middle School after a semester at Falcon Virtual Academy. The change was due to the fact that I was unable to continue homeschooling. My child was excelling at FVA and made the honor roll every quarter at his previous schools. I was shocked to find out after one quarter that my child was failing or performing poorly in most classes. There was absolutely no teacher communication. I initiated contact with teachers and the guidance counselor several times, and he still did not get the help that he needed. He also experienced bullying at the school. Teachers and administration seemed responsive after I brought it to their attention, but kids are allowed to be vulgar and aggressive unless a parent or student complains. I was initially impressed with the extracurricular offerings of the school, but it falls flat when one's student is struggling academically. If I had known that my student would have such difficulty at this school, I would never have enrolled him here. Parents do your homework, because it can make for a miserable school year for both you and your student when communication issues affect your child's success.
