This used to be an amazing school about 2 years ago until the original principal moved schools since then it’s been principal after principal and the SPED department constantly doesn’t follow ieps and do not help with kids they always make excuses ignoring medical advice etc . Also the current principal and assistant principal are awful at handling bullying . I would say the teachers care but unfortunately their leader and the district is not doing right by kids so there is only so much they can control

This isnt just about this school, but also about the district. I dont know how students are supposed to learn when they are constantly out of school. I have never seen a school have so many teacher work days, and so many days off. My kid attends Pioneer elementary, and has been in school for 3 weeks now. He is home from school today (the day after labor day), has already had a day off due to testing, and only attended 3 hours on his testing day. Now this upcoming Friday is a 2 hour late start, as it is almost every other Friday. They always have days off before and after holidays and vacations. They even have days off for parent teacher conferences. How are children supposed to learn with all this time off? How are parents who work supposed to attend parent teacher conferences, or cater to the mass amount of days off and late starts.

This is not a great school. My child has an IEP and is neurodivergent. Instead of following the plan, they would single him out and allow other kids and even staff to bully him relentlessly! My child is only in kindergarten and it seems they have already caused serious emotional trauma. Some of the teachers are amazing, but the admin "team" are just as bad as the bullies.

We absolutely LOVE Pioneer! The teachers and administration truly care about the children and ensuring each child receives a quality education. Can not speak more highly of this school!

We have had a fantastic experience at this school... The teachers are well experienced, with great passion, desire, and wonderful teaching strategies that take care off all levels of learning, with individualized education plans for advanced and slower learners... Amazing school functions... Great character building... Great communication, with appropriate grade level homework to strengthen newly learned skills... We are looking to move, still in the same school district, and we determined that even if we move, we will choice the rest of our total of five children through this school.

Not what I expected for a D20! My child got way behind academic wise because of the teacher absentees, and also the terrifying experience with all the bullying that went on during the school year. Sad to say my child did not want to attend this school anymore because of being afraid and discouraged. I didn't want anymore damage to the point I removed my child from Pioneer.

Not in my experience. The new 2nd grade teacher was always out. My child who was an A student dropped down to average because he wasn't learning as much anymore. Substitute teachers were the ones handling the class.

I can't speak for the rest of the teachers but for what I saw at Pioneer their curriculum was behind in comparison to other schools my child attended. They do Not challenge kids enough...at least not the teacher my child had.

Pioneer Elementary needs to implement a NO bullying policy in place!

I tried speaking with the Principal about some of my concerns during the school year with no success. Their Vice Principal was a better listener and handled concerns professionaly. She was always great with the students. She has my respect.

My child experienced constant bullying at Pioneer. We had NEVER experienced bullying at any of the other school before. The majority of the bullying occurred during recess out in their playground being unsupervised, until I shared with them my child horrible experiences. This playground is almost behind the school down a small hill. My small child was pushed and beating up screaming for help with no adult coming to stop this horrifying experience! No child should suffer while being in school. Bullying is something very serious and it shouldn't be ignored! Pioneer needs to pay more attention and they should have zero tolerance for this negative behavior.

We love Pioneer, 3 of our kids have attended so far in the 2years we've attended. We love the staff & how much they care about the kids, not only about their education but their well being.

They take away supports from students who still need them. My child was doing well with the supports outlined in last year's IEP, but they arbitrarily decided to take away those supports to see if he would sink or swim. He has sensory and anxiety issues that are not being taken into consideration. Obviously they are not concerned about his mental health. They don't see or care about the meltdowns that happen immediately after he gets home from school, which is a direct result of the stress he experiences at school. I would love to see him unleash one of his tirades at school. They really shouldn't claim that the parents are part of the IEP - we aren't, unless we completely agree with their plans. They have forced us into homeschooling him due to their completely ignoring our concerns about his safety and well-being. Talking to a wall might have gotten better results...

There are other schools in D20 that would be a better option than Pioneer, especially if you have a child with an IEP or in special education. They don't listen to parents, they act like our concerns are an incovenience. I would love to stick around and watch their ill-conceived IEP fail miserably, but I won't leave my son in that environment just to prove my point. Prior to his most recent IEP, I truly thought they were a decent school to work with. After this IEP, and another horrible experience with a different D20 school when he was in kindergarten, my trust in the IEP process and special education is gone.

We happened into this neighborhood and the school has bent over backwards to make sure I've had everything that I needed in order to get my kids enrolled and started. They prepped their classes so much for their coming that when I checked him into the office two girls whom we didn't know (from my sons soon-to-be class) said hello to my son and said that they had been anticipating his arrival. We felt so welcomed and the principal has attended every meeting with us and is absolutely fantastic. My son has a special need he is visually impaired. The TVI at the school has been exceptional as well. They have made him feel completely comfortable and sought to meet his every need without me even needing to advocate for it. I feel so blessed to be a part of the school and this community.

Moving from Az at a B+ school & over 1000 students in one elm. We were shocked to see on 400 students here at Pioneer! Our son attended 5th grade & our daughter 1st grade for the last 2m (moved in mid March) Our daughter is now in 2nd & our son 6th. They absolutely love their school, the staff & parents are very involved. We are very involved parents & our kids education is #1. Our daughter who has struggled with learning delays (in Az she was was retained in kinder with almost no help from the AZ school besides simple groups & basically left to redo kinds with no help we paid teachers to tutor her with not much success) then we came here to Pioneer where they've offered outside tutoring for FREE 4x a week & meeting with us(the parents) to help us all(staff & parents) be on the same page & make sure she doesn't fall behind & gets the help she needs. I cannot rave enough about this school & all parties involved, the staff, PTA, parents all are so very kind, helpful & attentive to their students in making the best learning/teaching environment for all! Keep it up Pioneer!

Our family loves Pioneer! Not because it is in District 20 but because the administrators and staff members are devoted and care about what is best for kids. I LOVE the reading & writing curriculums they teach. I stand amazed at how well my children are learning the art of revision. They have built such stamina at Pioneer. Their love for reading has grown beyond my greatest hopes. The assemblies are such a fun way for families and the community to honor kiddos and their hard work. After all, it takes a village! We are so grateful for the expertise leading Pioneer! Thank you! Thank you!

This school is horrible!!!! My child attended there for more than three years and without any problems until we kindly asked for help they refused to provide as suggested by his previous teacher. When they did not do what was supposed to be done, they all of a sudden became very difficult to work with. The current teacher and other staff including administrators had been trying to cover up all the problems and mistakes they had made within the school and my child along the way over those three years. The comment about "pocket people" is so true but has to do with the same administration, funny this comment was posted before my child attended this school! Many of the staff members have been nearly overhauled quite a few times within the last 6 years or so because of the above but no one seems to know that either. I am one concerned person that the ratings are improving with this school. So glad my child also no longer attends here because of the above, they don't treat kids or parents with respect at all.
