PPSEL has been an amazing school in so many ways. Their focus on Expeditionary Learning is such a fantastic focus that most public schools don't have the ability to do. The cross-curricular methods of learning make learning relevant instead of a standardization of material. The ability for students to not only learn about, but to actually APPLY the knowledge makes this school stand out.

Amazing educators and administration. The support staff also go above and beyond to help the students realize they are a part of a society.

I can't recommend this school enough!

I think there are some really good teachers here and some really weak ones. Behavior is not effectively handled. I have been at the school and seen tiny kids get screamed at for being different and then I see older kids not get any discipline. Thus, I would not recommend this school at 5th grade on.

My children are so much happier and don't get picked on like they used to at their old school. Love it.

They don't overload the students with homework, but only give them things to help keep them current.

This has been such a fantastic school for my children. They learn in such interesting and engaging ways. This feels like a family. I love it.

The teachers do not believe the kids when they tell them about their issues. They always take the side of the bully and say their freedom of speech protects them. However when the kids retaliate against the bully, they are sent to the office.

This school used to be great. But then all the teachers left and where replaced with people who don't care about their jobs or the kids they're supposed to protect. Their is nothing wrong with accepting all different point of view, but not when that point of view becomes hateful and toxic. They are no different than any public school now.

The teachers allow their students to get away with saying and doing whatever they want, including spouting hate speech.

The principal will not talk to parents, he directs concerned parents to the vice principal who is not able to do his job.

My daughter is in her fourth year at PPSEL (she started in 2nd grade and is now in 5th grade). Our experience at this school has been outstanding. She has fantastic teachers and looks forward to going to school every day. As a parent, I feel like I'm truly kept in the loop. The principal, teachers, and other staff members do an outstanding job communicating with parents. When you walk into the school, it has a real community feel. The teachers and staff are friendly, professional, and seem happy to be there. The expeditionary learning model really seems to elicit a level of in-depth learning that more traditional academic models can't replicate. We love PPSEL and are so grateful that we found this school!

Students generally don't have much homework. The expectation is that they do most of their work in school.

The principal (Mr. Knapp) is outstanding. He really cares about the students, the staff, and communicates very effectively with parents.

Not positive at all. Very frustrating if you have a child that needs extra support. Lots of talk very little action

I have 3 children at PPSEL. And we've been there 3 years. We love it! It's a more hands on learning experience for the kids. Smaller classes, especially compared to the public schools in the area. Someone commented below that the school is filthy- not true. Very well kept.
Children are behind- also not true. The kids at PPSEL test high.
Playground is mediocre- it is a smaller playground but it's a smaller school. My kids have never complained. They even ask if they can stay after to play.
The teachers are amazing! You can tell they truly care about their students. My 4yr old can't wait to attend next year.

Pikes Peak School of Expeditionary Learning is a great school, with great teachers, and small class sizes. I have been attended a few of the school's Gallery Night events where student work is showcased, and have been very impressed with the quality of work, and the knowledgable students. I am thankful that there are school's like PPSEL who are raising our young children for the next generation. Great school!

Great school! The schools works with kids of all levels. Community involvement is encouraged. The school has seen improvement year after year.

I am a teacher and military spouse . I have worked in many schools . Ppsel staff spend large amounts of time and energy tracking student growth. We do this because that is how we can really evaluate our own teaching practices. We really love our students and families and we don't leave our jobs at the school doors when we leave.

my children go not attend this school, however I live very close to it, and it is filthy. The playground is mediocre at best. I also feel like the kids I have met that do attend this school are behind.
