Our child has attended MRMS for the past 3 years. We have been very happy with the school. I have served on committees with teachers and admins and have been very impressed with how much they all really care about the students and doing what is best for them. Our student has received a quality education. We were a military family, and have been a part of many schools all over the country.

HORRIBLE. would not recommend this school. children have been accused, and punished for doing nothing wrong. No emotional support whatsoever. teachers are very rude, same with counseling. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE!!!

We moved to this area for the school district and we have not been disappointed. The teachers are absolutely wonderful. Our child gets extra support and they have been so accommodating and supportive.

This school is terrible the teachers and councilor's are extremely rude except for one and the teachers there pick on kids and never let you share your opinion. I am disappointed in this school and do not recommend it.

They do not deal well with kids who need a little extra time - time to work, time to have something explained, time to process, time to settle down, etc. Some of the teachers are very retaliatory towards students they don't like. Lots of issues with administration and communication. Would not recommend this D20 school. Others in D20 are much better and take the time to listen and work through things with the student instead of labeling and shutting them out/down.

Horrible experience!!! If your child has mental illness do not allow them here. They look for ways to suspend your kid, allow your child to get bullied to the point they want to die and when the bully got confronted they accused my daughter of false accusations and now there are legal actions pending. If your child has mental illness you will have to fight to get a IEP but they will continue to find ways to suspend your child until is on the verge of failing. This is not a school that cares! Very disappointing, very horrible school.

Very involved teachers and great class selection. Very good Principal and staff is extremely nice and always willing to help. Student Counselor for class selection is positive and quick to help each child reach their goals! Band is a very good experience for our child.

No, my child regressed even more. He has mentally shut down in certain classes. They lack classroom helpers in certain classes. 1 of the IEP members acted like goal and objects wouldn't matter.

My child was bullied but would not tell on them. However, he made a joke and they quickly assigned him a safety plan. Look at the history of the school and the white 2 kids that made news or ask around. I almost pulled him out the last month of school.

Really hard for my child disabled child to do all his homework. Also, school work did not get turned in while he was in the classroom. Lack of communication. Really bad Math teacher.

Wish they would create a positive learning environment. Where kids are not excluded. Where they actual make progress by grade levels.

Went to a school meeting and 1 of them did not pay attention the entire time but instead did his work. My child has actually regressed even more. Goals and objectives are already put together without the parent. My child felt excluded and they are not creating a positive learning environment. Laughing at parents, will not change the facts.

One of the math teachers is horrible. She provides very little instruction then wonders why average test scores in her class are so low. Other teachers have been great.

My daughter has a good friend group that I am impressed with. They look out for each other. There is normal Middle School drama but nothing horrible.

I have been pleased with my daughter's experience at Mountain Ridge. Yes, there is normal Middle School drama and frustration. She is finishing up 7th grade and I have been happy with the communication from the teachers and the friend group she has. There are lots of opportunities for students to excel and be involved. I would recommend it.

I will be taking both of my children out of this school effective immediately. The administration in the school has a considerable lack of training for disabled children. The principal plays into the middle school drama, and quite frankly acts like a middle schooler himself. They’re refusal to follow IEP’s has caused serious emotional damage to both of my children.

Both of my kids were bullied to the point of wanting to harm themselves. The administration overreacted to anything, to include pulling my daughters sleeves up to make sure she wasn’t self harming.

This is by far the worst school for any disabled child. The administration lets bullies get away with picking on disabilities. The administration also failed to follow through on an IEP, however when an advocate became involved the overreaction was phenomenal to include 6-7 phone calls a day. The administration applauds the use of escalating any situation of emotionally and socially disabled children. I will be looking into other options for my children’s education. It’s an absolute shame that these professionals refuse to act professionally.

The administration is less than dismissive of parent concerns, complete disregard for what few provisions they agree to, lack of any concern when they are negligent to the point of causing physical harm to a child. Unconscionable.

This school is very badly organized, and as others have pointed out, appears to play favorites. They are not interested in your child's education or in developing their potential. Instead they appear to "work to the metric" and ironically the relatively poor outcomes on the school metrics reflect this. This school needs stronger leadership from the top.

Daughter attended 7th and 8th grade at Mountain Ridge. We actually moved here so she could get into their IB program. IB is an awesome and challenging curriculum, which prepares students for the global world with high level academics and community involvement. Science teacher, Mr. Kastelic, is a very passionate educator and really got my daughter interested in inquiry, the scientific method, and biology. I loved that Mountain Ridge allowed all kids to participate in sports, regardless of level. They do have some competitive levels as well, for those higher skill levels. I found the administrators to be very friendly and caring, and overall our experience at Mountain Ridge was awesome!

The administration at this school is absolutely terrible. The 7th grade assistant principal and the principal are unfair and rude. The way several issues with my student have been dealt with have left me with the intention to switch middle schools.

As a parent, several teachers have expressed concern for the well being of their students and have clearly stated that the administration plays favorites and will not do anything to help the teachers or students.

The 7th grade resource teacher is extremely lazy and does not even check in on my child. The speech language pathologist is demeaning and acts like she is doing me a favor to work with my student. And the Social Worker falls into the same categories....Rude and Lazy.

This is supposed to be a District 20 School. Look at the reviews and do something about what is going on in your middle school!

My child has been there since 6th grade, there has been the basic problems, as any normal school would have with kids. We came from a charter school and going in to a big school, has challenged my child. The teachers have all been good and there to help, they respond fast when emails are sent. I only wish there were more clubs and more athletic team sports. They have wrestling? why nobody really does that sport. Soccer is more popular, Cheerleading, Tennis,, lets focus on those. thats why i rated the way i did.

This administration has no respect for parental concerns. The female social worker for 6th and 7th is abrupt and rude. She is bossy and will intentionally go against your wishes. This administration is on a power trip. Overcrowded school with 1/2 the amount of space needed for 1100 students. Beware!!!

Garbage school. More than 1000 students that share lockers. The place looks nice until you realize the amount of drama and bullying that goes on. The rich and sweet have preference even in the light of irrefutable evidence of misconduct. The counselor and the Principal I would put in the bully category as well. This has been my worst middle school experience ever. click, click, click. Entitled parents make it hard too because if you aren't rich and stuck up you won't be invited to stay at the birthday party. Absolute mean garbage.

It's too early to fully rate this school but today my family went to pick up papers to get my child into this school and the ladies in the office told us we could take a walk around the school and get a feel for it, everything looked great and we were quite impressed with what we saw until a blond lady came out of the student service office and asked if she could help us, we told her the ladies in the office told us we could take a look around and got rather rude with us and told us she couldn't see the fun in that and this was rather unusual...again, we told her we were told it was ok...she continued to get rude but went back into her office. Everyone else we ran across was very polite, not the greatest first impression but we won't let one person that's having a bad day discourage us from giving this school a chance. I will give a better report at the end of the year when we see if this is normal behavior of staff members

I have had three children attend this school. When the first child attended, I was extremely pleased with the school. My next child had a very good experience (other than being bullied, which took awhile to get stopped), but the third child did not at all. He had a teacher in sixth grade who was mentally abusive (other kids had same experience with this teacher), who changed the course of who he is. Rather than take care of the problem, it was allowed to get worse, and admin refused to switch his teacher. Same teacher put tape on a student's mouth and called another child a racially charged name--teacher is still there. Parents won't say anything because it's not taken care of. My kids seemed to watch a lot of videos in both science and social studies. The one admin that will do anything about it has consistently had her hands tied to take care of issues. Most teachers are good with few problems, but most of the truly great ones have left the school. Their strongest department tends to be the math department--you cannot beat the math teachers!

I have my third child in Mountain Ridge, now in 8th grade. I loved this school with my first two. I had to drive 15 minutes to get my children to this school, as we lived further north. It was worth it. But, then the principal left, as did a vice principal and some counselors. Although the teachers are still terrific, I'm guessing many will leave with this new administration who think they now need to lead with a cookie cutter mentality. My daughter is, for the most part, a straight A student and is doing fine academically but the way they deal with bullying and student behavior is awful. Apparently, everyone is to blame even if you are the victim. Also, if a few students do something wrong that activity is cancelled for everyone. For example, some students came to a play high and now they cancelled the whole drama program. It's ridiculous to make everyone pay for the faults of a few. This is their mentality. Everyone is to blame for bad behavior. I can't wait for my student to be done with this school. And because of the example they have lead we will not go to Rampart because these same students will be going there.
