Embarrassing to admit my kids had been here since 1st grade , now in 5th . I have watched my child go from being ahead of her class to being in the middle and falling behind . My child has been abused mentally and emotionally by staff, and no one answers for those situations. When brought up to principle we are supposed to just trust that they actually did something about it, but they have no real documentation of them doing anything . My child had to sprint laps with no inhaler , when she asked to call me for it/ because she was traumatized she was denied . They didn’t even call me after they found out it was happening. My child has had CONSTANT bladder infections because they were not allowed to use the restroom when they needed , my child has came home soiled and humiliated for years because they weren’t allowed , and cried to me saying it hurt to much to keep holding . My child had 3/4 subs two years each year for the whole year because their teachers were leaving. They say they are the best school district but it’s literally only because they keep people quiet by not communicating the issues going on and sweeping things under the rug so they don’t have to respond to any of it. It’s All a show. Terrible lunch food/lunch people, terrible teachers , terrible subs , terribly ran. Constantly assuming you are going to have time/money to give to them, they don’t even ask they just TELL YOU bring this , pay for that. Ect.ect. No actual protocols being done for safety or victims rights . Just difficult/fake people to deal with. When your kids tell you something about people, believe them. Absolutely do not recommend

We are so happy with Skyway!! The principal is INVOLVED and seems to genuinely love her position. The teachers have been amazing, counselors and even the front office is on top of things. We have moved out of disctrict, but kept both out boys in the school and will continue to do so! Love this school

I have had children in this school the last five years and have watched their joy of learning fade a little more each year. The key staff members who truly made the school what it was have moved on, and the once stable and welcoming front doors have become rotating. New teachers start every year, or even part-way through the year. Last year, my first grader had three different homeroom teachers. There is no sense of familiarity at Skyway anymore.

The school makes a big deal about mental and physical wellness and providing students with a positive, caring environment in which they feel safe to vocalize their needs and talk about their feelings, but advocate for your child to exercise those rights and you will be told you don't trust the school to do its job and you're pointing fingers. The administration is quite defensive for some reason...

My kids are both very unhappy, and I don't remember ever feeling that way about my teachers or my school. There were always problems amongst kids, yes, but there was usually something positive to say about the school or the staff. I'm truly struggling to find anything positive this year.

The teachers and staff really try to make it a school that you would want your kids to go to.

I had one kid that needed extra help and the other kid who was advanced. Skyway helped my child who was behind, excel! They were also able to accommodate my advanced kid, helping him to excel.

From our limited exposure, and seeing how happy the children with special needs are/were it seems to be a good program.

We LOVE Skyway Elementary !!! Having had both our daughter and son go to this school and with different teachers each year, we got to see a very solid overview in policy and procedure. The teachers are engaged, dedicated and exceptionally communicative. The leadership and Staff at this school is just amazing, You can tell that each person working there has a genuine interest in the children's well being. The curriculum and guidance from the teaching staff really helped our children grow and develop the skills necessary to blossom into thriving and academically successful Junior High and High School students.

Those three things are really the District Motto, not just Skyways, everyday you hear the teachers guide the students toward these principles and develop these characteristics in their students.

had 4 kids go thru Skyway. Although I wish there were more afterschool projects and things that they could have become involved in, its an outstanding family oriented place to go thru elementary school. I love that it has 6th grade.

I was an army brat growing up, and attended four different K-6 schools, so I have at least a little background to compare. I couldn't ask for a better school for my children. The teachers and staff are dedicated, responsive, and engaged in each and every student's well-being. There are a couple of teachers with whom I've had personality conflicts, but they've been entirely professional, and my kids have thrived under them. The physical building is in need of an upgrade, but I can guarantee you there are brand-new, state-of-the-art schools out there that don't have half the professionalism, success, and soul of Skyway. The proof, though, is in their end-product, and I can honestly say I've never encountered a better, more mutually supportive group of kids. I wish I could have attended.

We have LOVED Skyway now for three years (K-2) and everything from the academics, specials, and teachers. Our daughter has grown SO much in ALL areas. We've really appreciated how the focus is not just on academics, but also character and physical well being. The principal has been outstanding, communication has been great, and the atmosphere has been very warm. There are only two classes per grade and about 20-25 students per class which is WONDERFUL! We really could not ask for more in a public school. Their motto "We are Skyway, do what's right!" is truly working as the school definitely does a lot RIGHT! We're one happy family.

Skyway is a wonderful school. Three of our children attended- one from Kindergarten through 6th grade. This school feels like a close knit community. Many of the teachers grew up in the area and some even went to this school themselves. The school has a lot of parent involvement and many annual programs and activities that make it such a special place. We have recently had to move out of state and really appreciate just how much we have lost by moving away. Skyway really is a great place to grow!

I agree with the parent about bullying and too much homework, It's not the only thing that is boring. I agree to disagree to the check mark below. That is the other thing, force to do things that a parent does not agree with like a star rating. your lucky to get one star. Signed the parents.

This school has a problem with bullying and gives too much homework that look like sheets of boring lines. The principle was unresponsive and deflective when contacted about these issues. We ended up moving our kid, but damage was done. It's a pity, the school is in such a great location.

As a former student who graduated from this school district, I can attest to the fact that having high expectations and standards works, and has been virtually unchanged since my years here. I may not have appreciated how lucky I was to attend this district all 12 years, but I do now, considering I had to move back to Colorado Springs, and I drive 20 minutes to Skyway every day to take my daughter to this school. We have been fortunate to get one of our kids into this school, and it breaks my heart knowing that my other daughter is not a student at this school. This is the case till we can move into the district or a place opens up for her. We are stuck on the wrong side of the city, and have to wait until our house sells in another state to be able to move closer. I've seen and been involved with other districts here and in another state, from elementary all the way up through high school, and I can honestly say, short of a private school education, this is the best public school district in the Springs. I with they would re-open Canon so that more kids could have exposure to this district.
