1st bad school review. My son and I had a terrible experience with this school. I felt unheard and even mistrusted here by office staff and a teacher. I felt lack of compassion and empathy here and my child did not feel cared about. I would not recommend for gifted children or any kids that need any extra help. My other child here did just fine, so i suppose it might work out if they are an average kid. My gifted childs grades plummeted here. He was told not to ask questions so he stopped. I realized about half way through the year that me communicating with anyone in the school had gone nowhere and quit communicating with them. Best advice before finding a good school. Check the parent reviews. The one before had mentioned it was bad for kids with disabilities. I no longer will go by school ratings. I will say the parents I met here were wonderful!

this place is filled with rich white kids that dont know discipline spoiled and the teachers are very disrespectful to the students and parents and dont support kids with learning disabilities

Gold Camp is a clean, well organized and happy school. The teachers and staff are wonderful. My children love school & they are learning so much. I love knowing that they are safe and happy at school.

The previous principal was very ineffective and was not making sure my child's educational needs were being addressed. That principal is no longer there.

It was horrible. I had multiple meetings, having to miss alot of work, to advocate for my child's IEP was followed. Despite this and alot of written documentation and proof of my concerns, things were still dismissive and the guidance counselor interacted with my child in an ineffectice/I appropriate manner that was inconsistent with her IEP.

Teacher was not receptive with me as a parent or in IEP meetings to provide more effective interactions with my child. The Principal, who is no longer there, was dismissive of all my concerns, including providing proof through copes of academic assignments and teacher comments on the assignments.

My daughter had to leave this school as they would not meet her educational needs related to her IEP, despite multiple meetings. The teacher was routinely dismissive of my child's needs. She transferred to another school in the school district, which has been outstanding. Never realized how different schools could be within the same school district. I do not recommend for a child with special needs. The guidance counselor very ineffectively interacted with my child and she was told not to interact with my child anymore prior to my child transferring.

So far so good. We came from such great experiences in my daughter's first year to really appalling behavior of bullying last year. Things have since improved. Moral Education needs to be included in curricular for children at this age for a better tomorrow. We need tomorrow's society to be better than today's.

Great teachers, and most parents are very involved with their kids' education. Nice school grounds and nice school building. Kids from a lot of different backgrounds, and student behavior is good/normal. They learn quickly at Gold Camp!

It takes my son at least 45 minutes a night as a first grader to do his homework.

My son's teacher did not notify me about a sexual bullying incident until after my son came to me upset.

My first grader was bullied by two boys at his school, hit in the groin and buttocks and his teacher only told me about it after I turned the car around and directly asked her about it. Had my son not notified me of the assault, I still would not know. No notification was sent home and neither parent was called. I went to school the next day to discuss the issue, and they said they could not see me until the following Monday. Money and appearances are all that matters here. If you want your kids at a school that knows how to make sure the boxes are checked for high ratings, but do not care about individual students well-being, this school would be a great choice. As for us, we are going to D11.

Gold Camp Elementary is a school where students are encouraged to respect each other and to understand how they are connected to their community and their world. Teachers team up with parents to help students love learning and develop the independence they need to succeed. The principal is tough but compassionate. Parents are involved. And kids are curious and engaged. I am proud to be a Gold Camp parent. We bought our house mainly because it is near this school.

This is our third year at Gold Camp and we couldn't be more pleased. Our kids started in second and third grades, and for each of them it was their third school. The transition went well and there has yet to be a day where either of them didn't want to go to school. There is only a small percentage of military children, but the teachers and staff do their best to be sensitive to and respectful of the special challenges military children face. The teachers we have had are professional and competent and the principal is enthusiastic and sincere.
