My experience at Coronado High School was disappointing. In my experience, students at this school don't feel excited about what they're learning. The teachers are somewhat respectful, supportive, and motivating, but there is still room for improvement. In my experience, the school does not do enough to support students' mental health and emotional well-being. Students with disabilities receive some accommodations, but I don't believe the support is always enough. I also feel the school needs to do a better job of welcoming and including families as partners in their children's education. The biggest issue for me was safety. In my experience, the school does not provide an environment that is safe from violence, discrimination, or unfair treatment. I was pushed down a flight of stairs by another student, and I felt the school did not take appropriate action or address what happened. Because of that experience, I ended up dropping out and earning my GED instead. No student should feel unsafe at school or feel like serious incidents are ignored.

I have a child at Coronado and is really happy. The principal and teachers have been wonderful and there have been ZERO safety concerns. I was a teacher and counselor at other schools (schools with lots of violence and schools in very privileged neighborhoods). If your kiddo wants to find trouble...they'll find it at any school. If they want to work hard and achieve something, they will have that opportunity. I did my research before sending him to CHS. I would advise attending the PTA meeting to meet other parents and get a sense of the culture. Every school has it's pros and cons, but for us Coronado fit the best. He stands out because he is a high achiever (just naturally a smart kid) and works hard. Teachers are communicative and help when he asks. The course options are vast and he can pursue his passions and explore interests.

Both my husband and I attended Coronado. The current ranking of this school does not provide an accurate view. Our daughter has not only thrived in academics but in her sports as well. From the principal down, Coronados commitment is well demonstrated thru their students. The staff is extremely supportive and willing to help wherever they can. I would highly recommend Coronado if you are looking for a high school for your child.

My son is in his senior year this fall. The last three years have been incredible for him. The most notable positives for us have been the Soccer program, Which has grown in these few years to include a C team (50 players total) because families see such a benefit from the community that is formed. A big shout out to Marcus and Kyle and their wonderful work with the boys. We are so grateful.

Also worth mentioning is the caliber of teachers at Coronado. All along the way, Jayden has been encouraged to classes that lead him to receive college credit further explore his goals past high school. We also love the principal and the Administration. We are grateful for a supportive community Coronado provides.

Our kids were in a private school system all through elementary and middle school. We had some concerns sending them to a public school, but have been completely impressed with Coronado High School! The teaching staff/coaches are super intentional, the security team is top notch and the environment has been wonderful for our kids. Highly recommend Coronado High School!!!

This school sucks at being inclusive, welcoming, and over all there all just kinda neglectful when it comes to the students it has here. If they see a student failing that will be the only time they'd actually care about there well being another day is a "oh well" they only care about there learning rates sense they know they could never and will never actully care emotionally about there students well being. And I have many parts to back this up. There was a time a kid showed up in a flag and got called a slur as administers were right there to hear that they just told them to not say that and went back to their conversations blowing the incident away. Pretty much a lot of kids there are racists and have no trouble showing that as they will say It through words or actions, After many reports were made on this Coronado has failed to make a statement on any of this and let there white students keep up with this behavior as if it's ok in any world to do so. Over all if your mentally well which I highly doubt anyone would be after going to this school as a black,Asian, or any other diversity besides white or Mexican then your not cared for at Coronado high school. No matter how there education rates are they don't care and sweep everything underneath the rugs.

This is a very interesting school in which there is large population of honors and AP students mixed with a population of students at a average level of didactics. The Science department, specifically the elective courses, are taught by some of the most knowledgable and motivated teachers this side of the Mississippi. As of late, there have been many career specific courses; in this area the available courses continue to grow. This school is a leader in this area.

This school (and all District 11 schools) prioritize their own well-being over any students. Teachers are in a position where they can belittle students each an every day, they are abusing rules and regulations to make a kids day unbelievably more difficult, the administration cares more about wasting funded money on $1000 vape detectors rather than anything new for the students. The list goes on I attend this school myself and I strongly encourage any one reading this to find a better school for their kids sake. This school generally lies towards the parents of students and admin/teachers are well known to send emails containing false information about their student, their students grades, etc. To debrief, this school is a joke & needs serious change. (As do all schools around the country.)

The first two years the homework was reasonable and my daughter was able to pursue sports and other activities. The upper level and AP classes do have a lot of homework and she has had to drop some of her activities in order to keep up with it.

The teachers at this school have been across the board educated and enthusiastic about their subject and very helpful to the students. My daughter finds them approachable, available and ready to assist with any problem

Coronado is overall friendly and caring and this is promoted by the administration and teachers and many clubs require some degree of service. Integrity and respect are also promoted but there are some disruptive students in some classes.

WE chose Coronado and drive across town so our daughter can attend this school. It is very inclusive and has strong academic programs especially in engineering and computer science which she enjoys. She is a varsity athlete and enjoys the teams as well as the spirit of the whole school. She is a junior and has already earned enough CU Gold credit for 1 year of college. We have been very happy with Coronado and are amazed at the quality of the teachers and programs!

Coronado does a great job building well rounded students. They offer great classes including some which earn students college credits, they are relevant in today's world with classes like Engineering, Computer Science, drones, fantastic wood shop and so much more. They also offer excellent student support with tons of Help Centers and most of the teachers are absolutely wonderful and caring. Club offerings at Coronado are incredible with Robotics, Mountain Biking, Climbing, etc... The diversity of students at Coronado also allows for students to experience the real world at school and prepares them for whatever they do after high school. Lastly, there is much pride amongst the faculty & staff as many are alum of the school and are very much care about the students, the school and the west side - West Side is the Best Side!

One out of three kids faired well and graduated. One, having ADHD and 504 plan, dropped out after Senior year to pursue GED, and the third, also having ADHD and 504 plan, will not return after Junior year, opting for an alternative path of learning.

This school is a hidden gem. It has incredible opportunities for advanced academics and college credits on campus that are better than any other regional high school. Its performing arts and robotics programs routinely get national awards. Coronado has a much more educated and experienced staff than most other surrounding schools. It has opportunities for every child with excellent high-level academics, career preparation, athletics and clubs and even an amazing SPED department for those who need it.
Administrators are very reasonable, level-headed people not trying to jump on every band-wagon. The campus is clearly in the most beautiful location of any high school in the county with great views of Pikes Peak.

Our son recently graduated from Coronado and he had a great experience. The staff including teachers and administrators were friendly and supportive. He was able to take honors classes and CU gold classes which helped him earn college credit and also prepare him for the rigors of university work. We highly recommend Coronado!

My sons freshman year was a mess. He's very strong in math but this school could NOT get it together with the math teacher. He had over 13 teachers for the one year and I've complained many times to the Assistant Principle regarding this and was assured several times that they would be getting a permanent teacher. I did not speak with the Principal because the principal was only going to be there for the 1 year. They took the former Principal who made the school great out to help a failing school. My son's grade suffered and not until the last weeks of school did they hire someone. I lack faith in this school to the point that my two children will NOT continue their education. This is a place where are children are suppose to learn, grow and be prepared for college. Instead this school has failed and does not deserve high takings.

Over all Coronado is a pretty good school and has a lot of school spirit and pride. As far as the classes and teachers go it can be kind of a hit or miss, some of the teachers are really good at what they and do a good job at getting everyone involved and engaged but others seem to simply not care or have a hard time teaching their students. Another thing is if you're having a hard time with something its kind of hard to find someone to help and the only tutoring offered is in the library where you don't seem to always get the help you need. Last thing is while the principal this year was great he is being moved and we're getting a new one who may or may not be as good as our current one.

Coronado HS has some excellent and very qualified teachers and a very few who could use another vocation. If you are a motivated student you can get a very good education here in preparation for college, If you have some academic challenges or lack maturity be prepared for a very difficult time. The Principal has recently changed but the previous Principal was pretty much hopeless and never wanted to deal with problems. The main weakness I have observed is the general willingness to allow students to languish without any intervention on the part of the teachers. If you are a parent with a student that struggles in one or more areas be prepared because you are going to have to shoulder the load.
