This school is a fantastic choice for students wanting to pursue the IB education (International Baccalaureate Programme) at Palmer. The teachers and peers in the programme are great at encouraging learning and supporting a well-rounded education.

Great school. They have a lot of programs that other schools don't offer. Culturally diverse and a lot of school pride. The teachers and staff at this school are incredible.

There is a place at Palmer for every student. My kids are happy there, have meet nice friends, have teachers they admire, and are thriving.

We have had great communication with all of our sons teachers over the past 2 years. They give really interesting assignments and he is very engaged.

My son has done volunteer work in the community and some great projects.

my son is dyslexic and has had great teachers that give accommodations when he needs them. He is very good at self advocating and when he does he has always had a positive response.

We have thankfully not had to deal with bullying but have had great response with any concerns we have had with our son.

We have had a great experience so far. We were worried since it is such a large school but have always had great communication and wonderful teacher offering to step in when our son has had any problems.

The teachers at this school are just collecting a paycheck, they don’t care about the kids. Most of them do not even have knowledge of the subjects they are teaching!

The kids dress inappropriately, cuss, so drugs and there is no school spirit!

The principal Mrs. Disney is not a leader by any means, she let’s kids get bullied, does not get rid of ineffective teachers, does not enforce the dress code and hides behind the administration at D11. If she doesn’t want to deal with things she either ignores you or sends it to her boss.

If you are not in IB they act like you aren’t smart. My child is in class with IB students and does better than they do.

Awful! D11 better wake up and get their act together! You can’t hide behind the alumni and say that your school is great when test scores and the culture of the school say otherwise! We have no winning sports teams an athletic director Christina Miner who has no idea what she is doing, an out of touch principal Nrs. Disney and the D11 board who are dinosaurs! Enrollment is declining and you can’t say you attract kids from all other districts. It might have been true in the past, but not now! D11 and Palmer high school need to wake up before it is too late!

This school is just slowly going down hill. They use IB and a strong alumni association as crutches to rest on past laurels. The IB program really hurts morale at the school - it divides the students and the staff. IB/honors PE, really?! You have to keep them separate from the normal kids that badly? Just disgusting. The campus does not feel safe with all the stuff going on downtown around it and kids disappear at lunch time all the time. I feel bad for some of the teachers who really care and try while on a sinking ship.

This school is great when considering everything from education, teachers, students, environment, and everything before, after, and in between. The staff is quite pleasant, the teachers are simply great at what they do, the programs are the best they could possibly be (positively challenging!), the students are friendly and kind, and the school security are always on top of things.

I have had 2 children recently graduate from the Palmer IB, Diploma Program. We chose Palmer not only for the IB program, but also for its wide variety in activities and the diversity of the student body, both economic and cultural. They both did well, and found activities and clubs that fit their interests and personalities. The rigor of the program and the community involvement greatly helped both of them with being admitted to the colleges they chose and receiving scholarships. The teachers were supportive and willing to take time out of their schedules to help students when needed. The only acception to this was the art department. It was chaotic and disorganized. Little to no actual art instruction was offered. Students were just told to explore different art mediums and create whatever they wanted. No guidance, no instruction, no improvement to the students' skills at all. That aspect was frustrating, but aside from the art department, Palmer was a good school experience for our family.

This is my daughter's 2nd year at Palmer as a Sophomore. We chose this school instead of others within our school district (2), and 12 because of the IB program and the wonderful reputation Palmer has. She went to North and continued at Palmer and has so far received an excellent education. Her classes keep her challenged and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. There are plenty of sports, clubs and after school activities to keep kids busy and involved. Yes, it is an open campus in the downtown area and you will see people from different economic stratas which is important in developing good character. If you have a student who is easily led to temptations like smoking and drugs then I would not recommend Palmer for you because there are definitely some negative influences there.

My daughter just graduated and received an excellent education at Palmer High School! Lots of opportunities at this school, and programs to fit all kinds of kids!
