Currently I have a 2nd grader and a Kindergartener.
Our family has been at Rudy Elementary since January 2022. Our personal experience over the past couple of years has truly been remarkable. My child came into Rudy with an IEP and Rudy welcomed him with open arms. The teachers and I have been able to work as a team throughout his early childhood to come up with plans and solutions for a lot of his behavioral and academic concerns. I was never made to feel like I was being a burden or a bother when it came to addressing issues with my child's care and education. Even in more recent times, that have brought more adverse situations because of my child's behavior, I was consistently reassured that we are a team and I have support from within the school. I have appreciated the communication throughout the years and I would recommend Rudy to anyone, but especially anyone with a child in need of a great SPED team.
The entire SPED/Psych department is great, but I need to give a specific shout out to Rudy's Special Education Generalist, Brandy Loseke. She has been a blessing to my child's life and we need more educators like her. She always makes my child feel loved and wanted. She has the, "you CAN do it," attitude that so many children benefit from being exposed to.
It was a no brainer to also put my 2nd child through the preschool program here at Rudy. They are currently a kindergartener here and so far it has also been great. The Kindergarten teacher is consistently updating us parents of their classroom activities and milestones. The opportunity to be involved in the classroom is always there, even on field trips.
Rudy has also presented my family a sense of community and a plethora of new friends. There are activities that the school organizes scattered throughout the year that make the year exciting for the kids and their families.

We'll miss Rudy when it's time for middle school! The admin staff are very involved and committed to supporting students and families. They utilize the Capturing Kids Hearts program to help motivate students learning and also support mental/emotional health - students and staff participate daily. There are monthly opportunities to join discussions with the principal and hear what's going on in the school and the district, plus lots of PTA events. The teachers are responsive to questions and concerns, and I've never felt unheard if I brought up questions. There are also several clubs, sports and before/after school care options available on campus. Great neighborhood school and I know many families choice in to Rudy from all over town as well.

This is our second year at Rudy and I wish we would have started our oldest here for kindergarten. We had her at a D20 Charter School for K-2nd and she was really behind academically and struggling overall. We switched to Rudy and our kids are thriving. Our oldest no longer requires tutoring and our first grader is reading at a fourth grade level. We love all the staff and we have established a great community with other families as well. Overall, Rudy is a fabulous school and we are so happy we made the switch.

Rudy is absolutely one of the best elementary schools I have witnessed. From the moment both my children set foot in the school I have been blown away by how much everyone in the school cares about the success of my children both academically and emotionally. My son has needed behavioral interventions and he is not treated like a discipline problem but he has been treated like a little boy that needs help being taught to be human and has been given compassion and measures beyond what I thought was possible at a public school. This school offers a multitude of clubs and activities. The teachers give an incredible amount of time and love and that is very obvious. I would absolutely recommend this elementary school over the many others I have seen.

Rudy has a wonderful atmosphere for growing families wanting a hands on approach with their child's education. Kids are excited to go to school and learn while connecting by building their community. Communication is a huge plus at Rudy whether with your child's teacher or other staff, they want what's best for your kiddos!

I am going on year 9 of being a parent at the school and it has grown tremendously! My children have been blessed with hard working and dedicated teachers. I am always in the loop with what is expected of them and what is going on in the classroom as well as the school as a whole. Mrs. Fahey and Mr. Molina work tirelessly assisting teachers with students who need extra support, outside for lunchtime recesses, greeting students in the morning, filling in crossing guard duty, walking the halls to make sure kids are where they are supposed to be, in and out of meetings with parents, staff, and admin. I have been greatly impressed with their roles of leadership. The mental health team is PHENOMENAL and know their stuff! The front office is friendly and have safety first as their number one priority and I appreciate that so much! The GT teacher, Mrs. Belcher knows her stuff and has done an excellent job in running the GT program and my daughter always looked forward to being in there. The tutoring department has the best of the best tutors in there and my children were bummed at first knowing that they would be in tutoring but after the first day they couldn't wait to go back! Mr. G the custodian and bldg manager is one of the hardest working people I have met and does an EXCELLENT job not only taking care of the bldg but also his interaction with the children. The lunchroom ladies in the kitchen work tirelessly getting food ready and served and do it with a smile on their faces. Great job Rudy!!!

My child loves this school. The simple fact my child is happy, makes me want to stay at this school. I have seen how the springs has gone from a very small community to a diverse place to raise your kid. Which is ultimately what we want for our children if they plan on staying on this earth. However, my rating for this school speaks maybe nothing to the fact that some parents are made to feel like outcasts. I think the line of personal feelings towards some has crossed the line of professionalism. Treating some people less than because you have personal feelings towards others, who are by the way parents as well, is not ok. I think that principal Fahey and assistant principal Molina should consider that as they walk through life (and Rudy) as the leaders they represent. Put you personal feelings aside when other parents have disagreements, and let THEM handle their business. It is not ok to make some parents who work hard at making sure their kid doesnÂ’t make everyone elseÂ’s day miserable feel like they are unwelcomed. IÂ’ve seen this time and time again from your office staff. Please change and train them to be and do better.

My kiddo has had a wonderful time at Rudy! Now that heÂ’s older, he is able to be a part of the Gifted & Talented program. He looks forward to that part of his day every single day. We have had nothing but great experiences with the teachers, principal, and other staff. Everyone is very approachable and cares about the childrenÂ’s needs. The PTA here is also very involved, and the collaboration between teachers and parents is top tier. We are thrilled to be at Rudy, and we couldnÂ’t imagine our kiddo being anywhere else.

This is a fantastic school where we feel heard as parents, this is the type of school where you can literally take your concerns to the principal and vice principal and teacher and they will listen to you on the spot and they will hear your concerns and help you feel comfortable. IÂ’m not sure why the score is so low, that is incorrect. I challenge the parents who say they canÂ’t trust Rudy fully to come to our PTA meetings and to come to coffee with the principal and then say you have tried everything. I am a worker at the school at the fabulous after school program, I see how the teachers and employees treat the kids. I rate this school a 10/10 any day!

Some parents told me that this school was not great but after being in D20 the year before I strongly disagree. My son struggled in D20 with the supposed best teacher for his grade, however at Rudy he has excelled and learned much more than I expected. I am very pleased with this school overall. ItÂ’s the teachers that make the difference not the label.

We have been at Rudy for two school years now. It started with my son in his second year of preschool (he is now in kg). My daughter is now in her first year of preschool. We love the school. So much so that I even joined PTA, which I didn't imagine myself doing. My son has an IEP and his teachers has been amazing with communication. The school has been great and the front office is great too - in regards to his early releases for therapies and his medication. I'd recommend this school to any of my friends in the area looking.
The only downfall of the school is the unfortunate size of the gym/cafeteria.

I love this school. My daughter is excited to go to school everyday. The only bad part about the school is indeed the carpool lines in the morning and afternoon. It's ridiculous. It's so much easier to just park and walk to get your kids so you don't get stuck in line for 45min.

4.5/5 stars. Rudy Elementary is an adorable, intimate neighborhood. When we moved here, we felt so loved and welcomed by every single staff member and student we came into contact with. My kids love this school more than the fancy, brand new school they used to go to.
The ONLY downside is the horrific mess of a carpool line in the afternoon. ThatÂ’s not necessarily RudyÂ’s fault though, itÂ’s mostly oblivious or inconsiderate parents cutting and holding up lines because they believe theyÂ’re the main character. It only takes about 15 minutes to get through, but be prepared to be on high alert for adults just doing whatever they feel like, regardless of who theyÂ’re affecting. Hey, maybe itÂ’ll bring some spice into your life.

Rudy Elementary and it's staff have given my children a head start of loving school! Pre-k program is awesome. Sports and other after school activities/clubs has increased over the years which is great. Principal and other staff actually communicate if you have any concerns/questions. If you live in the area and have elementary aged kiddos definitely check out Rudy, if you aren't happy with your current zoned school definitely look into the choice option with Rudy as number 1.

We've been at Rudy since kindergarten. My son will be in 6th grade next year and is talking about how he wants to come visit his teachers even when he is no longer a student there. It is a true gem of an elementary school. The teachers are all willing to work with each child, no matter the level of knowledge. My kid loves the gifted and talented program. I love what our p.e. teacher has done for our school since he's came on board.

The principal at this school is absolutely the best of the best. Mrs. Fahey takes a personal interest in the kids and really steps in to help those that might need a bit more. If a child is having an issue, she will do a one on one, sit in the class to observe, etc. I have not come across a principal who cares more and shows that she wants each and every child to succeed. She works closely as well with the teachers and support staff. They really seem to have very open and effective communication at this school.
Posted: January 20, 2020
They do their best to cater to each individual child's learning style, which is difficult in public school. They are very open to suggestions that may help a child who is struggling. They believe in equity, not equality when it comes to learning, which basically just means that no child is alike or learns alike and they should all have their fair chance at learning in a way that best suits them. I was really impressed by this. The support staff for children who may be struggling in different ways is also phenomenal. The school social worker, Heidi Cooper and the special education department go above and beyond to help as well.

This is a wonderful school. My son loves coming every day, which is a first for him. I couldn't be more pleased with the leadership, teachers, or support staff. It really shows when educators love what they are doing and truly care. They are communicative and open to any suggestions you have. They really listen to the needs of the children. Excellent school! We couldn't be more pleased with it.
Posted: January 20, 2020
They don't overload the children with too much work. Some schools go overboard on this and never give the kids any downtime to just free play, which they need. They send just enough to help the students and also give the parents a feel for where they are at.
Posted: January 20, 2020
Teachers are very communicative and can always be reached for a quick chat if needed. They evaluate the children and give extra tutoring help to those that need it during the year. They really seem to care about where each individual child is at.

I can only say this from a preschool and kinder parent experience. My daughter is in kindergarten and is high achieving and the teacher has done a great job of giving her some things to do that push her academically. As for my son, he's only 3 and he already has an IEP for speech and I'm so so excited about this (and I was very surprised they would do an IEP this young). He's getting extra help in the classroom and the preschool teacher and aides do such a great job of meeting each student where he/she is to help him/her grow academically and socially/emotionally.

My daughter got in trouble for not being respectful of another student's personal space. I got a call immediately from the office. Not only that, but the principal said they would discuss interactions with the offended student to make sure there was no bullying happening. We took this seriously in our household and the principal arranged our daughter to go to the counselor once a week and I'm so happy that this is being focused on - sometimes a higher achieving student's social and emotional growth can be overlooked and this is not the case. I did have to pursue this with the principal as the teacher did not mention this was an option in our one-on-one meeting, which we did have to request.

The principal (this is her first school year at this school) is absolutely phenomenal. She's always available to talk, she does monthly meetings with parents so we can sit down and talk about marketing strategies (yay for a choice state) and get great ideas for better communication with other stakeholders/parents. I am so so excited for my kids to go through the next 5-7 years here and I hope she sticks around that long!!

I wasn't positive if I wanted our kids to go to a neighborhood school when it's so easy to choice into a charter school or school in a seemingly higher-performing district. This has been an overwhelmingly amazing experience. I couldn't be happier. Coming from my own background as an elementary teacher (before having kids), I am so glad this is our school home and I'm so excited to see even bigger and better changes. They work on academic and social-emotional needs as well as diversifying academic rigor for individualized learning. I get a great feeling when I'm there, and my kids are absolutely thrilled to go to school every morning (when they have school).

I only have one kiddo in K and one in preschool. My K kiddo has homework about 70% of the time and it's typically only one math worksheet so I can see what she's learning. And nightly reading!

The preschool teacher and two aides are absolutely phenomenal. They work on teaching kids HOW to be in school, how to communicate and get along with others, and there is more exploration than what elementary students would/do learn. As for kindergarten, my daughter is already high achieving and it's amazing to watch her really learn HOW to read and write and do math. She has, however, had some problems getting along with some students in her class, but it's to be expected in any classroom setting.

This is incredibly apparent in the preschool, which is a D11 preschool (some preschools on D11 campuses are NOT run by D11 but this one is). The school in general really focuses on their 3 R's - Respectful, Resourceful, Responsible. And I know it's going to be something that's an even bigger focus moving forward and I'm excited about that.

There are some really good teachers but then there are some teachers that aren't that great.

I think Rudy Elementary is a good school I'm upset that they're building a cell phone tower on school grounds that's the downside to how I feel about Rudy now.

The teachers don't care about the children and don't help them learn. They don't have control over their classrooms and my child had to get therapy because a teacher there lied about behavioral issues. My child had a horrible experience there and always came home with anxiety stomach aches and is now on long term medication for induced anxiety. I absolutely hate this school.

I love it that the Principal of Rudy is always outside watching over her students before and after school. The staff is very helpful. The kindergarten teachers are fantastic and very communicative of student's progress, daily activities and events. My child has loved attending Rudy!

Right amount of homework and adequate time given to complete it.

This school has a weak principal who has almost no leadership skills other than intimidation. The school is really run by a cliche of older teachers who start whisper campaigns against newer teachers they do not like. The principal follows their lead without doing any investigation (i.e., always subjective, never objective). Luckily, she has only a few more years until her retirement.

The location of the school being on top of a hill makes it hard in the winter to get to. But the teachers there are great. My boys love this school and I as a parent think it is a good school. My kids are learning so much. This school does a lot of family things. I kept my kids there even after moving away from the school.

Mediocre at best as you can see if you look at their test scores. Communication between the staff and the parents leaves a lot to be desired. I am currently looking into alternatives before my child is so far behind we will never be able to catch up. This is the most frusterating situation I have ever been in. My son's teacher is so quick to to put a NO on his daily chart, but won't tell us what exactly the no's mean. We can wait an hour and a half to have a discussion with her then we always get interupted by other parents. If there is a problem tell us what it is and let us find a solution but if there is no communication how are we supposed to fix it? This is the first year my son has dreaded going to school. He is intimidated by his teacher who never fails to call him out infront of the entire class. It all makes sense now that I have found the test score percentages.

We came from a different school district in Colorado Springs and it was horrible! Since moving to Rudy my child has done much better and I like the school and teachers.

Rudy is a great school! The teachers and all staff work together so well to do what is best for our kids! The are sensitive to our children and consistent in performance. The community of the is school so just wonderful. I look forward to many more years at Rudy with my two children to learn, grow and become respectful young men.

Rudy has great leadership and the teachers are highly competent. When you go into the school the staff and it seems like most of the kids are smiling which I always see as a good sign.

My son attended Rudy for kindergarten and first grade before we moved north to D-20. I regret that he is no longer in D-11; Rudy had very welcoming office staff, great teachers, and an overall wonderful atmosphere. The curriculum at his current school has thus far proved far less challenging than what he was doing even in kindergarten at Rudy. I cannot recommend Rudy enough.
