When your child says the principal has told them to not tell their parents that a teacher is yelling at them—it’s time to bounce. PERIOD. I hope the other parents can take their time to list their own experience here, but most are just moving on without warning any newcomers. There is a high turnover rate for teachers/paras there. GLOBE operates on minimal staff, which leads to burnout and a hostile environment for anyone working there. Upon further research in Colorado’s Unified Improvement plan for GLOBE C/S for the prior year, the principal had mentioned teachers found the freedom to teach to the standards exciting, but “teacher morale throughout the year fell and so did their personal standards “...GLOBE parted ways with 3 general ed teachers AND 1 literary coach. In the time that my child was there for 2022-2023 school year, GLOBE CS lost a 2nd grade teacher, an office staff member, a 1st grade teacher (who moved during winter break?), a kindergarten aid, and their kindergarten teacher, and most recently a para- that’s 6 staff members within the school year. A couple of teachers are not returning next year. When my child started, the staff and teachers were great- which made me relieved, and I felt like I could leave my child in their care to thrive. GLOBE does not do well in notifying parents when a staff member is going to leave- which can have an emotional/mental effect on your child if they were close to those staff members. High turnover seems to be a pattern here, and no self-reflection as to why from the administration. Parents requesting transparency regarding sudden staff changes or parents expressing valid concerns that a teacher is yelling at kindergartners - are viewed as troublesome and are lied to by GLOBE CS administration. They truly do not have your child in their best interest. The interest is to keep the dysfunction and unethical treatment of children from coming to the surface because it reflects the Administration.

There is not a consistent approach throughout the school

The teachers that were hired by the previous principal, Mrs. Breakey, are very highly effective, however the new ones seem to be somewhat off.

It used to be, once the Board fired Mrs. Breakey, the school went downhill fast. The Board and Mrs. Parker DO NOT know what they are doing.

Mrs. Parker is always blaming mistakes on someone else, is not welcoming or inviting, is yelling at the kids, and it is not the community feel of the school anymore. I will not be bringing my kids back.

The staff has been very supportive. My grandson was failing in another district 11 school and is actually thriving at this school. The teachers are amazing and find time to create solutions so everyone can win. I can't say enough good things about this school.

The teachers are great. They work as teams, have support from specialists, including a psychologist/behaviorist, and have pe, art, foreign language, technology, and music on a weekly basis, along with recess time daily.

Their anti-bullying campaign is effective without being overly burdensome. They protect the kids without making everyone feel like they are walking on egg shells.

All of the school board meetings are open to the public and public participation is encouraged. Heidi has an open door policy and she is always happy to talk to me.

Their gift and talented program is custom tailored to each student. They have several staff members involved in evaluating students who need a little extra help and lots of resources are implemented to fulfill the plans for improvement.

They keep the homework to a manageable level but still hold people accountable without being punitive. My first grader gets rewarded for doing 20 minutes or more of reading and occasionally has a short assignment that normally just involves talking to us about something.

The teachers are excellent. They spend their time and energy on things that matter instead of making their building look pretty. See my comments above. Their approach of the basics, along with their gifted and talents program, and the extras like language, sports, art, music, technology, and the dramatic and musical performances is outstanding. Their sixth grade teacher also helps the students raise and lower the American flag at the beginning and end of each week, teaching them respect for the flag and their country.

Absolutely wonderful! I took my kids or of public school because it seemed like no one cared about the actual child. At this school there was no bullying. Teachers cared. Especially Mr. Evans!! My kids thrived and I reccomend this school to those who want their children to be heard and treated like a person. Those who have had problems with bullying and those who want to show their children to be decent and caring adults.

Globe uses the acronym SHELL to develop Safe, Honorable, Effective, Logical, Life Long Learners. The teachers do a good job of reinforcing SHELL for their students.

Globe Charter School is a fantastic school. The class size average is 15 students compared to 30 students in the district. Students are taught to be critical thinkers. Students are also taught real-world concepts. It really is a wonderful school! I would recommend it to anybody in the Colorado Springs area!

Not only do they NOT cater to students with special needs, regardless how minor, they appear to have very little understanding of what's required in terms of outside therapy when a child attends a school with an extreme lack of resources for special needs children. Much like another reviewer, I have pulled my son out of the school due to the aforementioned reason and in doing so, was threatened by the principal with truancy. Additionally, the grounds of the school are lacking to say the least. Ask play areas are covered in gravel and dirt, the limited play equipment is decades old, as are the desks and materials. They will say there is "no bussing", however, it's impossible to miss the school bus dropping kids off and picking them up daily. If you point that fact out, be prepared to be told that those children have "special circumstances". If you ask what the guidelines are for those special circumstances, you'll be told that they "can't give out that information"... It's incredibly apparent that this school is grossly underfunded and it's incredible they came out of probation by district 11 in 2010. If you decide to visit, prepare to be incredibly underwhelmed.

My oldest son had been going to Globe since the 2nd grade and has never felt more comfortable at a school and never made to feel that he was different, he came from a school where he was teased . My youngest son has been here since kindergarten and has never had such a wonderful experience with all his teachers and staff. We have always felt welcome and have always been asked to participate and our views on the education and experience that they have been getting at Globe. We have always seen great things happen to both our sons in Globe and great achievements in them since going to Globe. We have never felt that the curriculum has ever been more than they or any other student can handle. The staff has always been understanding in the needs of the students as well as the parents. We could not be more pleased with the school.

I have a kindergartner who can read, write, and do math because of the time and attention of his teacher. The staff at GLOBE make sure every student feels welcome and safe at the school and every student is secure in their environment. Every parent is expected to do their part in helping educate their child which means doing their part in volunteering and being part of the community at the school. GLOBE staff goes out of their way to make sure everyone is welcomed and makes sure that everyone's needs are met and everyone can be worked with. The programs GLOBE puts on are amazing! Way to go!

This School has been an ok school when my daughter started in kindergarten to maybe 2nd grade. After i enrolled my son to 1st grade here with his IEP it started out ok but it all went downhill from there. My daughter is on a 504 and my son on a IEP(which they refuse to test her if she needs an IEP). They Both have of course physical,speech,Ot,play therapy, and maybe 2more therapy's, and on top of that they have specialist appts,doctor. The specialist came from out of town to come to the springs and they DON'T have after school appointments. So you know its imposible to schedule appointments after school because everyone wants those appointments. I was called on a meeting with the District 11 and was put on TRUANCY! they told me at the meeting that if i didn't like the school than go back to your home school (which is Helen Hunt Elementary). The reason i went to globe was because my daughter was there and because the FIRST DAY of helen hunt , they LOST my son. So thats my take on these that basically this District is the worsts! when it comes to ANY KiDs!!!

I really appreciate their 6th grade teacher Mr. Evens. This school was recommended to me by a parent who works with district 11 and she was pleased with the 6th grade education program. My daughter went to this school fighting me all the way. Not wanting to do her best on homework or even try half of the time. But Mr. Evens held her accountable with us to get her on track. By the end of the year, she was coming to me with questions like, "Mom, I don't understand this problem. The calculator said this answer, but I'm getting this one, can you please show me what I'm doing wrong?" The proof is in the pudding. Not to mention the staff and the principle did the best they could to work with us. Parents are very welcome in this school at anytime!

Globe Charter, though once a good school, is the worse school tow hich my kids have ever gone. The principal is horrible, and the teaching isn't much better. There are a few good teachers, but VERY few. My kids won't be going back. Areas for improvement are to stop mass disciplining kids, hire some better teachers and get rid of the current leadership.
