This is a small community school, In the past year it has seen big changes in teachers and administration. They are really trying to help the kids and they go beyond in trying to help families in need. They even delivered food to families in need during Covid. I think they are trying to meet families where they are. The Sped teachers really care and love their students. The teachers in the 7th grade are the best.

There are some great kids at this school. That has nothing to do with the staff. Unfortunately, because of the staff, most of these great kids will never meet their full potential.

They have no leadership. I'm pretty sure you that someone who has retired from one school is just sitting around collecting a paycheck at this one. Horses are expensive, after all.

They don't support gifted and exceptional students. Their alternative education program is a farce. I can't comment on those with learning disabilities, but they don't do well with those without, so I don't see how it would be better.

This school is not effective. Period. I have no real experience with bullying, so I can't actually state one way or the other.

This is a score for the school years from 2013-2017. There is no approach to homework. Once upon a time they had school planners and interaction. Now they have a new superintendent with a questionable past and a speed-dating approach to parent-teacher conferences. Most of the staff is not on the website to communicate if there is a problem and most of the teachers don't send home information, even at the beginning of the year.

Most of them don't last that long. The ones that do have nowhere else to go. Many of them have questionable backgrounds and/or credentials.

My experience at this school has been at times frightening, at times frustrating, at times bewildering. I wish I had never heard of this school. I think it has only gotten worse since the new superintendent. Someone must be getting paid to rate this school, because I've never heard anyone say anything good about it. When I brought my kids to enroll, I was laughed at by a TEACHER for calling it a good school. Should've left right then. She's still there. She has nowhere else to go. That's the mentality, though. This place is a joke to the people who should be making it better.

We are small enough that students can get individual attention. We send home their grades every week and encourage them to discuss them with their parents for extra credit. Students with F's are not eligible for sports.

Full disclosure: I am in my first year of teaching at CCV. I came to this site because I was curious to read reviews of my school.
I would like to point out that in 2014-2015, we got a new superintendent and principal who have made great changes. The reviews from before this time are outdated. Many great teachers were hired within the last two years.
The school is an overwhelmingly positive place-the teachers care and the students are happy and friendly. I subbed in 10 different schools last year and I've never seen so many happy faces in one building. All our new students were welcomed and found friends quickly.
Our school had a bad reputation for academics, but we are making exciting changes:
AP classes
The ability for juniors and seniors to take a van to UCCS and take college credits
Technology-the plan to get each student an iPad
Advanced learning plans for gifted and talented students
An alternative education program
Please take every review published before 2013 with a grain of salt because a lot has changed. CCV is a special place full of happy, caring people.

They have exciting changes happening at CCV. The sports programs are starting to compete with schools their size. They started and alternative Education program. They give the kids IPADS. They are starting and industrial arts program or AV tech Program.

CCV is a wonderful place! It is so small and most graduating classes average 25-30 students. My kids really get the attention the need and the staff is incredible. I would never send my kids to Woodland Park because they would just get lost in the mix of over 1000 kids. The new administration is doing some really positive things and I hope the community and other parents start supporting this school more cause it can only get better. Kids get a lot of help and its a beautiful area.
