Very bad school, the teacher do not know how to teach. Also this school is very strict on rules and overall kinda bad.

Teachers dont post grades on times and kids miss there roads to re do because parents dont know for weeks at times. Not many teachers certified in dyslexia so space is very limited and quick to get the boot if its not as severe as others. Staff does not comply with IEP or 504 requirements even when you ask for certain things. Harsh punishment for some none for others. Vaping in bathrooms. Restroom restrictions because staff cant keep restrooms clean or kids under control. No one to one parent teachers conferences unless your kids are failing the good grade kids get open style and you may get to talk to one teacher if lucky even if you have 504/Iep. Bullying , kids with severe behavioral issues that have to have staff walk them class to class. Counselor is not good even if you ask for help they may or may not check in with your kid. Poor communication through app even though that is what they are suppose to use. No crosswalk guards sides of school and terrible drivers huge safety concern. Fights, stealing is often. There is a FB page to confirm all of this for parents but closely monitored by staff so recently less posting because the parents know. Its like any other public middle school nothing special. Gave it a 2 star because its close to house and my kid made friends. Google reviews have been turned off by school because recently it has been terrible and they want to be a 5 star. Lots of staff turn around including principals.

1st year with a student at CTMS. Love that grade levels are broken up into pods. Its a new concept for us. Communication with teachers is minimal unless there is a problem. Our previous school would encourage teachers to meet with all parents for conferences but here they seem to deter it to save appointment times for struggling kiddos or concerned parents. My daughter enjoys it, loves her teachers and friends. Teachers encourage students to redo work and tests if they are not happy with their grades. They want them to succeed/pass.

The front desk never answers the phone they always say leave a voicemail and will call you back and if they do then they give the excuses they're busy so when I mentioned they should have several people be able to answer the front phone if we call for a question or to get our child we get a person but no one ever answers the phones how can Elementary have no problem every single time but a middle school cannot that's unacceptable we are trusting you with our children we should be able to call our school and talk to a person I know a lot of parents who are upset by this I hope it gets fixed

I have had an unfortunate first year with this school, and I don't know if it's a school thing or a teacher thing. My son has always made mostly As with a B or two here and there (different state and distcrict). This year, 7th grade, was his first year at AD20/Chinook. Early in the year he started to get bad grades (Cs), so I emailed his teacher. She said it was due to missing assignments and denied there was any reason to be concerned. The "missing grades" were left for weeks even though I emailed and called. In addition to work not being graded, I oversaw his work and homework for months and when he would get a bad grade, I myself did not understand myself what he did wrong according to the "rubrics." This turned into a regular thing for the rest of the year. The teacher has been unresponsive and unhelpful. Instead of being teacher like and trying to help him, she left petty remarks on his paper for "bad work," even when I myself was confused as to what he did wrong. It really broke his confidence and unmotivated him because even doing his best he get Cs and Ds and is lost. Now we are ending the school year with Cs and I'm trying to reassure myself that it's "only middle school," but my confidence is also lost. I have overseen my sons schoolwork and helped to the best of my ability, but when the teachers are not available and not supportive, there's only so much you can do. Additionally, and less importantly, they give punishments for the slightest misbehavior. Lets not forget these children are sitting still for 8 hours and have a lot of pent up energy. Laughing should not be punishable with "lunch jail." If he hadn't already just gone through a huge change in moving states and schools just a year ago, I would move schools next year. As it is, I can only hope that 8th grade is different.

My childrens experience has sadly been the same at this school as the negative reviews left below. I am concerned for my daughter going into high school soon, she will not be prepared at all.

I have gone to this school and my experience has been that teachers give good grades based on popularity of the kid other than their academic performance. Teachers will give bad grades if they do not like you, for example I have had a teacher who gave me a bad grade because we had obvious tension between us and when I threaten to have a conference with my parents they gave me a good grade.
They do not give preparation to students for high school to where representatives from high schools came to CTMS to talk to them about better preparing their students for high school. Even when they started to attempt preparing students freshmen still fail due to the slacking of education that was provided.
This school fails to have a healthy standard with mental health, because CTMS says they take pride in supporting their students mental health, but nothing is worse for for your mental health then going to high school and struggling.
They do have parent teacher conferences, but in my experience when speaking to the teacher she was more concerned if I liked her if not and when my mom asked her why I had a B she didnt know why because all my grades were As

My child has gone here 3 years, thank goodness we are almost done. He has struggled with learning, does not like school at all. He does not understand the curriculum and no one takes the effort to give any extra help. He is slipping through the cracks and Chinook is pushing him through them. Dress code isnt enforced, incredibly short shorts, stomachs showing. Have spoken with the principal and she has no desire to enforce it. Boys dont have the same access to sports that girls do (girls can play football but boys cannot play volleyball), so they do not feel like there is equal inclusion. I am so very disappointed with this school and wish I would have chosen differently when moving here.

The staff, counselors, secretary, principal are not helpful. It does not feel like a great learning space.

Excellent school! They bring in programs like Sources of Strength to help combat bullying. Teachers have been fantastic about keeping parents informed on assignments. Very safe. Very clean. We have never had a bad experience with a teacher.
The only thing I wish different is that they would bring back the program International Town.
