Terrible School. The principal only listens to you if you agree with her. If you don't agree with her she is extremely rude

The current principal of this school supports allowing boys to play in girls sports. She is the first principal in D-49 history to accept it. I was a volunteer coach for my daughterÂ’s 4th grade basketball team & she fired me for speaking up.

This is our second year here and it's so tiring.
School just started and parents are consistently bombarded with "please donate messages" in the app they use "Class Dojo".
Then they tell the kids "if you get your parents to donate, we will have a special treat for you". So now there is always tension because I refuse to keep donating money over and over again.
When initially signing up for the app I thought it was a good idea to keep in touch with the teacher just in case the teachers have something important to put out for their class. However, you receive messages from people all throughout the school, all the time. It's so hard to keep up with.
On top of that, the events that they have for the students....parents are notified one or two days prior to what the students need. So us as parents have to run out and try and grab stuff last minute all the time?
Honestly, this might be the last year for us. We might just move to a different school. If you can, avoid enrolling here.

This is a terrible school. I recommend that you do NOT enroll your children here. Their staff (teachers, VP etc..) lack professionalism, support, care for other staff and even their own students. Students are misbehaving and it's the result of bad teaching and lack of discipline. They won't take accountability and blame others for the reasons I listed above. Another school in the district, Remington Elementary School; is miles ahead of this school in all achievement areas such as academics, support and staff, behavioral management, safety and care for students and staff.

This school is great and staff member are all amazing. My kids attended from preschool to 4th grade and had a wonderful learning experience. Kids said they were happy in school and received help whenever needed. Teachers communicate really well. We had no trouble with bullying whatsoever. My children were academically thriving, received extra help when needed. I would recommend this school.

My son has been at this school since kindergarten (he is now in 3rd grade). I cannot say enough wonderful things about this school. We have LOVED every teacher heÂ’s had. Each one has been very good about knowing his strengths and weaknesses, working with him to feel confident, and has dealt with issues weÂ’ve had in a wonderful way. The administration has been amazing. The principle is phenomenal - gives out great information, explains her reasons, is always smiling and happy to see the students each morning at the drive up line, and has done amazing with keeping the kids engaged during this crazy COVID 19 time. I am so thankful for this school and cannot wait for my next so. To start kindergarten here next year.
Last plug, the specials teachers have been amazing too. My sons favorite is PE - the teacher is engaging, motivating, and fun. My son raves about him. Music and art have been wonderful as well. I also absolutely LOVE how they have added a counseling special this year to help encourage the kids to talk about their feelings particularly this year during coronavirus. This school is amazing.

Stetson Elementary School is an excellent school. SES is filled with amazing families! The parents are caring, supportive and involved. The students are awesome children who enjoy learning, at least partly because of the dedicated staff members and talented faculty. The school has been serving the community for 28 years and continues to strive to make Stetson a great place to learn and grow. Stetson is filled with heart.

My daughter was enrolled at SES for her 4th and 5th grade years. I have a younger daughter starting school next year. Based on the action (or better worded "inaction") of the school this year regarding bullying issues in the classroom and the school, I will not be enrolling my younger child in the school nor would I recommend the school to anyone. I have never been a part of a school whos upper administration lacked action and follow through when issues arose in the classroom. Their bullying program consists of drawing posters for the school and thats it. Without a more pro active bullying program, these children will suffer. ASide from the bullying issue, I never felt any connection to the school. I was a very active volunteer at my kids other school but The one time I volunteered at SES, I was approached by a staff member "telling" me that I was supposed to be using the parent work room and not the teachers lounge. She did not offer to show me where the parent room was and then walked out of the room. Needless to say, she left a bad taste in my mouth and I did not volunteer after that. Please, do your research before sending your kids here.

The staff in this school lacks communication skills. We moved from out of state and my son attended 1st grade and my experience was not positive. We will not be attending this school for his 2nd grade. Sadly to say that the PTA communicates better than the school staff.

There are 2 different parts of this school to review. The teaching staff is great and provide a great education. P.E. is an issue. The teacher tells the kids that dodgeball is a curse word in his class and they mostly do worksheets in class, therefore not getting any physical education. Another issue is the Health and Wellness program. Teachers have taken kids snacks away from them if they are over the 100 calorie limit, and we can't bring cake/cupcake for b-day's. The lunchroom is a big issue. They're made to be eerily quiet, yelled at by the janitor & monitors, and interrupted to put up "Falcon Ears" to bring the noise level down, when the noise level is very normal. The lunch monitors don't smile or interact with the kids, and the janitor is allowed to punish the kids if the deems them out of line. I've witnessed him bringing the kids to tears. I've voiced concern about how the janitor, and how the lunchroom is run and get nowhere as the principal tends to just pacify concerns by making a change for a few days then allows the issue to come right back. I would not send my kid back to this school if he wasn't already leaving this year.

Stetson in a happy school. As with any school, families get out of it what they put into it. The staff is very dedicated and really cares about every student. They really care about developing the whole child, so well rounded children are created. My child has gone to schools in D1, D20 and now he is at Stetson. Stetson is by far the best!

My son has gone to this school since kindergarten and is now in the 4th grade. We have had nothing but positive experiences with this school. Each teacher along the way has been great. They take a true interest in the success of the children they teach. The kids that attend are from all walks of life which makes my son more aware of the way life truly is. The office staff is pleasant all around and there has not been a day that I haven't seen the principal making his rounds whether it be directing traffic flow or greeting students. In my honest opinion, I believe everyone at this school has only the best interests of the children and their success in mind.
