This school is horrible my nephew goes to this school and has been harassed, bullied, beat up, gets suspended even though he was the one getting jumped. The principal has done nothing but harassed him, racially profiled him, he gets in trouble for nothing he has done no evidence to prove anything. But all the other kids get a slap on the wrist no matter what they do wrong.

This school is not safe. The teachers and staff do what they can to support but overall the environment is dangerous to students and staff members. Students roam the halls, there are very little suspensions and expulsions even after fights. The principal will scream at students in the hallways. I would not recommend this school.

My experience with MOST of the teachers and the Administration this year at Carmel has been negative. The principal and VP are both new and inexperienced. The teaching staff is also almost completely new to this school. Most are not able to control a classroom of underprivileged kids. This is a rough school of kids, and I sympathize with the teachers, BUT trying to be friends with the students instead of being the authoritative figure will not work. The admin makes many excuses for the teachers. A child was stabbed earlier in the year, the child had a punctured lung and was not properly treated. The student who stabbed the child was then allowed to come back to school after 10 day suspension. The education these kids receive is subpar even for the Southeast side of town. I will be sending my son to a charter school next year.

First day of school they didnt have my 7th grader even enrolled in classes so I stayed an extra hour trying to get everything straightened out so he could get a locker. Couple months later a 6th grader was stabbed with a pencil and they didnt even call 9-11 because they didnt think it was a big deal. Then I find out last year there was a child who also was stabbed. Now my kid is coming home getting in trouble because his "FRIENDS" are telling him to say inappropriate things and he thinks its ok because his older friends from Carmel say it is. D-2 IS A FRICKEN JOKE!

I was concerned about sending my daughter to Carmel Middle School. After reading the online reviews, I was worried whether or not she would receive an adequate education. She is getting ready to end her 7th grade year, and I feel slightly better about Carmel. My daughter seems to like the school despite the behavior issues. One more year to go...still keeping my eye on things!

There was NO music department in Carmel during 2010-2011. For a supposed forward-thinking 21st Century school, this school is sadly lacking.

This is a 21st Century school which has 19th century vision. No arts, no humanities equals no creative connecting links for students. Maybe now that they are bringing ONE person back in to teach band and choir (which they didn't offer in 2010-11), plus dance (yes, ONE person), there is some hope for a more forward-thinking school.
