I pulled my kids out after 1/2 a year. They weren't learning anything. My 7th grader never ever had homework, and said there was bo point in trying because he'd get credit if he turned it in with only the minimum answered.

LEARNING:
Since my daughter attended this school (2022 to currently), I believe my daughter has learned a lot. Maybe because of her first teacher in Kindergarten. Then 1st grade comes around and the teacher they put my child with is a BRAND NEW teacher. I was getting multiple messages a day and calls from the office to come pick her up. They have subjects that help students but the school itself does not encourage learning. I feel like they are a revolving door who accepts students at any time of the year. Maybe for more funds?

TEACHING:
Like mentioned above, a lot of their teachers are brand new or have no experience. It's frustrating working with brand new teachers who has no experience with kids who just NEEDS MORE.

SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SUPPORT:
0/10. This school has no support. THey have 2 paraprofessionals at school to support the whole school. Meanwhile, they have 5 staff in the front office at any given time. WHere is the priority? I think this school is not looking at the root causes of their problems and just sweeping it under the rug. When students are acting up in class, there is no options for them or anywhere for them to go so they call parents to come pick up their children.

SPECIAL EDUCATION:
My daughter has an IEP in speech and she did well. This is the only program I liked from this school. Maybe because they had a legitimate Speech Language Pathologist but even that position is a revolving door.

SAFETY:
I've had instances where I had a close friend of mine pick up my child after school and the front office staff dont even verify who's calling or if the person calling is even authorized to pick up. Another time is when my friend was picking up her kids from the same school and my daughter followed my friend and her teacher wasnt even paying attention and let my child just walk off.

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT:
This school lacks when it comes to documenting and relaying correct messages. It came to a point where I had to get the principal's cellphone number so I can directly communicate with her instead of the front office staff. So why do you need 5 staff in the front office again?

My 7 year old daughter got a note from a 'troubled' classmate that he was going to bring a gun to school and shoot her. He passed identical notes to several students in class this day. I found out from my child after school and immediately contacted the front desk staff - they refused to take it seriously and said the kid was troubled and they knew very well of his home life and KNEW he wasn't capable of actually doing anything like this. They did not suspend him, they didn't even look into it any further. They told me to just send my kid back to school and everything would be fine. My daughter has never gone back to that school since this day!!! 1 word; COLUMBINE. Nobody can be sure someone isn't capable of shooting up schools. The way this was handled wasn't safe, fair or ethical. The police and a therapist should have gone to his home, met with him and his family and at the very least, he be removed for making such threats. My daughter, a potential victim was left with 0 rights or protection. Huge fail for SCE staff.

I noticed the teachers are NOT attentive to the students. They are their just for a paycheck.

My son is struggling in his class, other students are noticing he have a disability. They mock him and I been trying to reach out to figure out what’s going on. No one has responded to my calls.

Posted: January 29, 2020

The principal, doesn’t return calls nor correct the issues that needs to be addressed.

Posted: January 29, 2020

Read above, they have an IEP set for my son. I barely get any answers or know what’s going on.

Posted: January 29, 2020

Read above. I feel that the staff ignores it or avoid any bulling issues.

I have a granson who has ADHD and a few other issues. This school failed him. They where so quick to let him just walk the hallways when he had outburst. When my daughter showed up to pick him up that had no idea where he was. He was made fun of and bullied by other children because he is different and when he responded back he was the only one that got sent to the office and most times sent home. I thought the people that teach and run our schools do it to teach children and are there to help mold thier little brains. This school failed my grandson , they should be ashamed.

An amazing school!! The teachers are very supportive and you can tell they really care about each kid. I am always amazed at the things my daughter comes home and shares with me. I am proud that my daughter goes to this school.

My eldest daughter has been in this school since kindergarten and she is now in 5th grade. My youngest daughter is in 1st grade and in her second year at the school. I have been very involved with the school working as a board member of the PTCO and a volunteer for the past 5 years. We have loved everything about the school, how welcoming it is and how they have genuinely wanted to have parents involved. Their test scores seem to consistently be improving and both of my daughters seem to be performing above grade level each year. With all of that being said, this school and district is in a transitional year. A new principal started at the school this year and the district is about to hire a new superintendent. I can only hope that I will continue to see improvements in the years to come.

The teachers here are incredible. The administration leaves something to be desired. The counselor is the worse I have seen. The administration leaves the counselor to handle all student matters and he does a very poor job. I would never recommend this school to anyone. The teachers do such an incredible job of communicating with parents as well as challenging the students but if any issues arise, good luck getting any support or assistance from the office.
