Front desk staff are very rude, teachers very snobby. Every one over there is working by themselves no team work at all and very disrespectful

We have had a great experience with Mountain View! Our 4th grader's teacher cares not only about student achievement but also about the child's general well-being in the classroom. Our daughter is challenged at an appropriate level and has enjoyed her time at Mountain View.

We pulled our kids out of this school and choiced into a different school. Our kids were anxious, unhappy and stressed out. They came home every day complaining that they didn’t like school and every morning it was like pulling teeth to get them to go. Year after year of this with multiple teachers proved it wasn’t just an anomaly. They are now back to their happy selves and loving school. Pulling our kids out of this school was the best decision we ever made. Neither the teachers, nor leadership of this school are effective.

Also, they manipulate the test scores. My kids were given multiple “practice” tests until they got to some predetermined score (they reported 80% was the target for them). But when we had them independently assessed, they were working below grade level in multiple areas. We have to remedial work to catch them up.

We pulled our son from this school after 6 months of Kindergarten. The teacher was approaching retirement and didn't seem to care anymore. She was gone for weeks at a time. We met with the principal and teacher together twice and things never got better. The principal was far too delicate to effectively lead. They do use isolation punishment with the Kindergarteners. After accruing enough infractions throughout the day, the student is put into a corner at the end of the day while the other kids have fun. My child was punished for using the words "poop and pee" on the playground. He was 6 years old. They also use peer-pressure punishment which leads to bullying (i.e. all kids are punished if one kid messes up.). My son was punished for not having his reading books, which he did, in fact, have in his backpack all week long. The teacher blew us off saying, "He should be independent enough to find it because I have a lot of kids ." She punished him anyway, to the point he was coming home DEPRESSED. He hated school and it was only Kindergarten. At drop off in the morning, he would say to me, "Are you sure I can do this?" It was heart breaking. He knew the teacher didn't like him. We spoke to the school counselor and she told us the school has a "culture problem." She also told us she [the counselor] had been there several weeks and had already decided to not come back after the summer break. When the counselor had visited our child in class at our request, she found him being punished and crying under his shirt, alone in the corner. She had no idea what he had done wrong. That was the last straw. We had to protect our child's mental health from this toxic school. After spring break, my husband and I didn't send him back. We withdrew him from the district and began our journey of homeschooling. Our son is a new boy. He is FAR ahead in his education, loves learning, and has great friends. He is very athletic and spends so much more time playing outside than he ever did at that school. He is happy again. My only regret is that we didn't pull him out sooner. My advice to parents is, don't consider this website's rating system as the reason you choose a school. A school that cares more about State testing and nothing about how children are treated is a very bad school. I would tell parents to consider homeschooling before choosing this school. You can do it.

The school does have a good Resource department with very caring staff. Some classroom teachers are good and others should not be teaching.

Hit and miss...one child was is middle of the road academically and not a behavior problem and over looked because of it, and the other I had to prove needed extra support. The classroom teacher flat out told me my child did not have a learning disability and did not differentiate learning for my daughter. That teacher also influenced how her teacher the next year approached my daughter’s education and she was written off again. We changed schools and found the support we needed. Do you know how hard it is to regain the love of learning?

Just like any school, my kids had amazing and so so. My youngest had one aweful that tainted her love for school and marginalized her needs instead of finding ways to help her learn. The teacher’s “body of eveidence” was so faulty and showed she didn’t know my child at all. It was frustrating and hurtful as a parent.

Both my children have had to deal with bullying and disruptive students. The PAWS PBIS has inconsistent consequences and the classes are clique-y. very have/have not academically and socially competitive place.

While some of the teachers are amazing, the strain between the staff and administration can be felt by the parents.

The staff was very unsupportive when I began raising concerns and requesting a different teacher. My child was ultimately discriminated, harassed, and bullied by the staff, including her teacher and assistant principal.

Homework and expectations are very inconcsistent making it difficult to plan and support. Also doesn’t always support the learning or goals for the week or lesson.

First year with this school was great, but the second year was a nightmare due to the teacher and not receiving support from school staff when multiple requests were made to get my child into another class.

While there is a general effort to do so, their inability to lead by example makes it difficult for them to effectively support and execute in this area.

D20 Schools are great, all the elementary schools have high test scores there is really no bad schools in D20 as for this website i have realized that it is ONLY based test scores and the real purpose is to show parents how many white kids or poor kids attend this school. it is disgraceful. Why else does it list the percentage of white kids right there with the test results? Incredible! Great schools explanation? So you can be sure the poor kids are taught the same as your child! Because when parents look at schools their main concern is are the poor kids and minorities treated fairly? Go to the states department of ed website and get the true and accurate data to compare the schools in the state and then visit the school!
See what programs they offer, do they offer parent support programs, before and after school care, college preparedness programs, 21st century learning, (Tech skills) Foreign languages, Stem Programs, Magnet schools, Charter schools, Bussing to the special programs or schools, just because a school is 76% white with a ten percent free and reduced lunch population doesn't mean they are an excellent school that is going to be the perfect fit for your child from my personal experience as a military family moving often my children had difficult times in the (perfect) 76% white schools in the expensive neighborhoods because of bullying and that can throw off any academic program a school offers.

We had an incident with another child with my son. The school managed and carefully resolved the issue. It allowed for a positive relationship to be built between the two children and for that I am quite pleased.

I spent a great deal of time looking at schools, test scores and other things. I was encouraged to put my child in TCA. However, upon further review, I didn't find success with their programs. Where I became highly surprised with Mtn View is not only are the test scores great...which is a testament to the teachers and administration, but when a student is struggling, the school has done great things to help bring those children up to standard. They absolutely DO NOT shame the students, nor make them feel different. The group times, are appropriate and are personalized to meet the children's needs. I have been more than pleased. The classes are full; but what I love is that the teacher has the support they need to continue with a dynamic learning environment, and that says more than a number. AMAZING!

The teaching staff at the school is phenomenal. My son went through K-5 at Mt. View. It was a great experience. The staff was attentive to my students needs and the needs of the other students. It is very kid-centric at Mt. View.

We loved this school. We moved last summer to the area and my child felt welcomed and happy here. We were lucky to have an excellent teacher that cares for the students and really loves her job.

We only were able to attend this school for one year--as we moved and our kiddo is in 5th grade--but let me just say we LOVED it. Friendly school. Principal on the first day noticed my kid on the playground not knowing anyone, he walked up to my son and asked him to play tetherball with him. That is a principal who cares!

We had the pleasure of having three children enrolled at MVES for the three years we were stationed in Colorado Springs with the Air Force. Having seen a number of schools across the country, to include the much vaunted schools of Fairfax County Virginia (outside of DC), I can attest that MVES is outstanding. I cannot imagine a better school. Great teachers, great administrators, and a great neighborhood of families with a common interest in the importance of our children's education. You can not do better than Mountain View. To any teachers from Mtn View reading this, THANK YOU for your service to our children. Well done!

I don't have any kids at this school, but visited to check out the school for one of my children. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. The technology seems to be advanced. The principal was nice to us, took time to answer our questions and give us a tour. We have not been highly impressed with district 20 schools, but this one is worth a second look.

I went to this School from 3rd grade to half of 5th grade. I was terrible sad when i had to leave due to moving. I was in the TAG program With the greatest teacher ever. All My teachers were wonderful and helped me with any difficult problems that needed to be addressed. We have Come back after 2 years and we are trying to find a middle school for since i am going into 7th grade. Safety is a high priority here and i highly recommend this school for Children. Parents this is a wonderful school and your Children will Love it! :o)
