I am a current student at windam middle school. This school is horrible, everyone is treated poorly and no one has any respect for each other. everyone is basically each others enemy. Most of the teachers here are ok, the do try to help us learn, because our sbac scores are so low. The new principle. is also horrible he does not let us kids be kids, and all he does to deal with a problem is just blame it on the person, who did nothing wrong. he is also very strict with the dress code, we get punished if we wear a hoodie or something that does not have the logo of the school on it. the counclers in this school are great, but thats about it. If you ever want to go to this school, just know it will be literal hell, and you might just want to kill yourself after you've benn there.

Nearly all aspects of the Windham Middle School have proven to be a parent's nightmare for their children's educational experience.

Windham Public School's CHARLES H. BARROWS STEM ACADEMY is a wonderful learning environment. All schools have their challenges, and CHBSA makes headway in overcoming those challenges. A great school!

They give homework, but expect parents to be the teacher. Common core math is not something most of the parents have learned. My child comes home not understanding because they don't teach this in a way a child can understand and make it very difficult for parents to assist their child. We aren't the teachers! Our job is to make sure the homework gets done!

Windham should be ashamed. Under performing and disgraceful about sums it up. Teachers don't care, students are disrespectful but all one has to do is look around the community and it's easy to see why. Embarrassed to tell anyone I have to send my child to school here because I have no choice.

I am a student at Windham middle and I hate this school. In all my classes we don't even learn anything because many of the kids are yelling, throwing things and being super rude to the teachers. Yet the teachers don't do anything. Almost every kid in this school swears and the even swear to the teachers. I have seen so many kids getting bullied and I have seen so many fights. There are so many unplanned fire drills. We had to stand outside for almost an hour in the middle of winter because there was a gas leak and the it happens the next day. And we had to walk to the nearest school because it was so cold. And the sports teams are terrible. I am a softball player for this school and we lost every game this season. We don't have real coaches. My coach was a reading teacher and the baseball team had a guard for their coach. Do not send your kids to this school.

They don't teach. We watch movies all the time. And when there is a fight they stand there watching and call a guard.

All I have gotten for homework is one double sided page in math and the teacher would give it to use on a Monday and it wasn't due till Friday. That's all I got.

I feel that no one is treated fairly. I get bullied because I'm "a white kid".

I am a former student of this school. While some teacher do truely make an effort this school is a joke. There after test scores and do not care about the students. Honestly. The students know they can take advantage and do which ruins education for everyone. I would never recomend this school to someone ever.

Im a student in this school and let me say i have good experience in this school Im a HIGH HONOR , Been student of the month and choosen to help younger kids and parents thinks the school is bad, horrible and there disgusted but its not the teachers its what path your child takes cause they might be angels at home but they skip classes swear even at teachers and maybe even cause fights to happen i seen the way students act and some are different around parent so make sure you walk up on your child in suprise. Them to see if he/she are doing there work or goofin around and that will change your opinion of the school

Do your child a favor and move from this town to give your children a real education. The teachers do not care! My daughter would watch movies in the auditorium 3-4 times a week because there were no subs. She rarely got homework and everything that was tought this year she learned in mansfield last year. I am so dissapointed and disgraced. Shame on windham schools.

My daughter and I recently moved back to the New England area from California where she was in a highly progressive school with an API of nearly 900 and was above average in every category of the state testing. My daughter and I initially had some concerns with the school based on the reviews and test scores; however we decide to give it a chance. She has been there several months now and was warmly welcomed by the staff and students. The old adage never judge a book by the cover applies here; she loves it and has straight A's. I firmly believe if you are an active parent and your student is serious about learning they will excel at any school. I applaud the teachers and staff for their continued effort and patience dealing with the less committed!

I am the parent of a former student at the WMS. I had never been so disappointed and disrespected and insulted by anyone as I was when I met with the Social worker at the WMS school. My child was failing in school. When I met with the social worker, she told me that I wasn't a good parent. That I wanted my child to have an illness, that how dare me implying that my child needed psychological services. The social worker even suggested that I should give my child to the father as I couldn't handle or parent my child. This social worker didn't know me and didn't know my child . I took it upon myself to get outside private help for my child. My child has been diagnosed with mental a illness and that was interfering with my child's ability to learn. The WMS 8th grade social worker, principal and staff refused and denied my child the opportunity of an education, which by law my child was and still is entitled to.

I have two students at WMS. Both excel academically, are being recruited by UCONN already and love the teachers, principal and staff. They have yet to report of any social problems for them or their friends. If you are engaged in your kids lives and education, they will do well no matter where they attend school.
