It calls itself a Catholic school, but with the intrigues and bullying that occur freely there, it should lose that title. The Principal is just a person in the position, only interested in collecting money and giving her husband a job. There is nothing interesting about the school... they forbid parents from participating, and on top of that, I witnessed discrimination and racism from the priest and the principal... keep your children away from this place!

We have been at Sacred Heart for a few years now and am excited to send my 3rd kid there next year. My experiences across the board have been amazing! And the middle school gets recess!!!

The teachers have been phenomenal and so caring. The Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers are so effective at the basics of math and reading, and the kids come home absolutely loving to learn. There was an issue with a kid on one of my child's class, that was appropriately and effectively dealt with. In terms of academics, the level is way above that of their peers, but the kids don't feel rushed or pressured in going ahead.

The principal has been nothing short of supportive, helpful, friendly and kind. It's always so refreshing to see the older kids interact with the younger kids, in their class buddy system.

12/10 would recommend.

Do Not Send your children to this school. The principal is very unprofessional, she is very rude! There were multiple incidents that occurred that she never reported that needed immediate action to insure the safety of our children. On top of all that they do not care about the education, there were things that my son should have been learning while attending 2nd grade at Sacred Heart School. He was completely behind when it came to his education. I have since then switched schools, his reading has improved greatly! He is finally on track on where he should be for his age and grade. If you want to go to a private school I recommend St Patricks Cathedral School! We have never been so happy with a school until now. The staff/educators especially the Principal are wonderful and definitely care about the well being of hour children. The moment I walked in I felt the presence of god/ light and love.

I thought by sending my son to this private Catholic school I was giving him the best education and opportunity. I had gone to Catholic school all my life and had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately that was not the case with my son and Sacred Heart. After my son was diagnosed with a medical condition, Sacred Heart refused to accommodate his special needs. Even after granting them full access to talk to his team of doctors, review of his medical records, and a doctor created care plan for school, the new principal chose to tell us a quarter of the way into his second year he wasnt welcome. Unfortunately that was not the only issue we had, or other parents have had. Bullying is not reported to the parents or controlled by the school. My nephew (also a student) was held down and kicked and stomped on by his classmates at recess and my son came home several times having been punched, put in a headlock, etc. There was lots of verbal teasing as well. To put the icing on the cake, one of my sons teachers (knowing all about his special needs) told him hes an animal and didnt deserve to be at Sacred Heart. For a school that claims Jesus is at the heart of everything they do, I am appalled at how my son was treated. It even lead to 2 suicide attempts. Thankfully my son is now in the local public school, receiving top notch support, and he is THRIVING. Hes also receiving a much better education and is surrounded by competent educators.

Also, after kicking him out due to his special needs, they kept the tuition. Absolutely disgusting behavior all around and not a place fit to teach children.

I used to love this school, when it was run by Mr.Fitz. He was fair and compassionate. I cant say the same for the new principal. She is overly stern, rude and lacks compassion. I will not be sending my youngest to this school.

Sacred Heart is fantastic! They have been open full time in the 20-21 year and have not experienced any closures or quarantine in the classroom.

Through all the COVID chaos, Sacred Heart has maintained a school year of normalcy (as much as possible) while ensuring health and safety. There is a wonderful before/after school program which can be pricey on top of the tuition if needed for extended hours.

School encourages (enforces) kindness and respect for one another. Any bit of mean or aggressive behavior is acknowledged and handled immediately.

I love the uniform - makes each day easy and much lower cost in yearly wardrobe. No fighting over outfits in the mornings and always know what to wear.

With small class sizes, the kids receive individual attention. They are encouraged to do their best while being creative and developing friendships with classmates. Classes start as young as pre-k 3 up to 8th grade. Pre-K 3, 4 and K are not thrown into the rest of the school. They are included in events, minimally as to not overwhelm. I did not send my kids to Pre-K at Sacred Heart fearing the school was too big and not a traditional preschool. After seeing it now, I wish I had and they could have continued in the same school up to middle grades.

I highly recommend! Wouldnt send my kids anywhere else in the local area.

I once used to boast about this school! I sent 2 of my children here and love it! It was definitely a place of family and community. I recently sent other child here and unfortunately found the the staff and principal had completely changed. The school has now become bitter, unwelcoming and uptight. A place where my children used to love and adore, has become a place now despised:( I hope one this school can recover its past reputation and gets new staff.....especially a new principal!!

The teacher teaches in the class and the children must review and study. They must do math problems and english problems, but not overwhelming.

Sacred Heart School of Groton, CT is a school where the atmosphere feels like a closely knit family. Parents, students, and teachers collaborate to create an environment of learning and growth. The school has recently built a Gymnasium / Fine Arts center and was the first Catholic school in the Diocese to have A STEM Program. You will not find a better school in the area.

This is my daughter's first year in the school and it has been an amazing experience ! The teachers care and take time with their students when they do not understand . The principal is outside every day greeting students and parents as we drop our children off. I feel safe with this school. Her grades are better than ever and she's getting a great education! I am so glad we chose this school . Father Dariusz is a great addition to the school too! Know kind and caring .

Amazing school! The teachers are wonderful! We have two kids currently enrolled and have been very pleased with the level of parent/teacher/student engagement and the quality of education they are receiving at Sacred Heart. I would highly recommend this school if you are looking for a great learning environment with supportive staff and a Christian education for your children.

My son has attended Sacred Heart since kindergarten.He will be graduating this year.in all the years he has been there he has made some lifelong friends.The bond between these kids is amazing!!He has not had one teacher that he didn't like.We had a challenging year one year as far as his grades went but his teachers got him back on track.I couldn't be more pleased with this school.

I was the school nurse at SHS for 12 years,I am currently retired & have moved out of state but still keep in touch with several students,faculty & staff. Why? Because i found them all to be loving people.The adults worked hard to provide an enviroment of joy, health & fun with learning. The children were awear of their importance in this christian community they were shown respect,love & equality as children of God no matter their religious belief there were several religious beliefs dwelling in thier hearts. Each childwas known to all the staff, the staff were the roll models any parent would wished for. I would HIGHLY recommend Sacred Heart School to any prospective parent.

a teacher's effectiveness can be judged by the number of students who return to the school years later to thank a teacher, I have seen this often. The number of students who enter high school feeling prepared & succeeding. This too I have witnessed during my years at Sacred Heart.

Sacred Heart is not just a school. It's a family. I love knowing that every teacher knows my child's name and greets her with a smile. The faculty is excellent and very open to parents and students. They go out of their way to help students succeed.
Sacred Heart offers special instruction for both special needs and advanced students. Students study foreign language in grades 1-8, which gives them an advantage when they get to high school.
For such a small school, Sacred Heart offers a host of extracurricular activities: cross country and soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter and track and field in spring. They have band, chorus and drama for the performance types. Chess, photography, debate and far too many to mention are offered frequently according to interest.
The before and after care provided by faculty members is an excellent feature.
My daughter is graduating this year and we are so sorry. We will always have a home at Sacred Heart.

We moved here from out of state last summer. We heard how good the schools were in Waterford so we tried public school. We went to the first open house and witnessed the lack of work the children had been doing. My daughter had said how they got to play all day at school. We immediately switched both kids to Sacred Heart. The transition was easy and the staff was very accommodating. I saw a huge difference in the amount of work, and quality of education my children were receiving. On top of that I saw a difference in their behavior. They had gotten a bit naughty while being at the public school. I am very happy we made the switch and my children love their school.

I never did send my child to this school. When I went to check out the school i witnessed the principal responding very rudely to an elderly teachers request to speak to him after school. We teach our son to respect everyone, and I would expect the principal and teachers in a spiritually based school to reflect this respect. My son is now in his third year of public school, and I am very pleased with it. I am only sorry I couldn't put him in a Catholic school that would have reinforced that respect.

I think Sacred Heart is a very positive place where there is a strong focus on continuing to work year after year to improve the school. Our children have been in the school for several years and they have certainly developed intellectually over the years as we would have hoped and expected. The school also benefits from a strong commitment from many parents to enrich the environment.

They let a few of the parents of the fifth grade ( of 2012-2013 year ) become teachers with NO " Teaching " Experience !!! We used to LOVE the school but in the last two years the quality has gone way down !!! Pulled my kids .

We absolutely LOVE Sacred Heart. When we moved here from California my daughter was use to full day pre-school and they were the only school in the area to offer it. She is now in the first grade and her education is far superior to that of her friends in public school. She is reading level 3 books and writing full journals. She can speak in Spanish and French. They made us feel very welcome and have been very loving and nurturing to our daughter over the last 2 years. We have been so happy with Sacred Heart we are sending our son who will be turning 4 in May to pre-school there in the fall.

I went to this school from 5th to 7th grade. The school convinced my parents they were far ahead of local public schools so they held me back. When I transfered from this school back into public school I was so far behind I was held back again! I'm so glad Brewster Middle/Lejeune High in NC noticed the problem and allowed me to pass through and graduate on time based on my age or else I wouldn't have graduated until I was 20! I am still amazed at the very low quality of this school, years later. You would assume that with so many parents being as wealthy as they are, they would care more about their children's education. Most struggle at a depressing level once they reach high school.
