The main office secretary is never at her desk around dismissal time but blames the parents for ringing the doorbell after 2:40. This is the 4th time this occurs and then they blame you for their mistake. How would you know if I am there at a certain time if you aren’t at your desk! Communication needs to improve and so do their attitudes towards parents! You don’t want parents to swear at you but yet you aren’t listening!

Where do I begin? Well, when this school 1st began @ a different location in Hartford (Lyme ST) it was the best school ever! Values such as students shaking hands with the staff (etiquette), breakfast EVERY morning for each child, great, energetic teachers & fun, extreme learning. You can definately see which kids started there from the beginning & which ones came in from a different schools. Why because of expanding, location & closing of another neighborhood school. It's different teachers & staff every year, I feel as if the "original" kids are badly influenced by the "non-originals", and the curriculum could be a little better. I feel like they lost that "edge" that they started with that set them apart from the regular Hartford Public Schools. I'm in the process of taking my kids out of this school for the following year.

I think this school should be shut down. They treat the kids like inmates and choose which kids to help and which ones to leave behind. They do not let the kids have their own mind and thoughts. I know a few parents who's children had to get professional help because of the school. My children when there and I'm happy they do not attend anymore. DO NOT SIGN UP

I have a 8th grader and a 3rd grader attending the schools (elementary and middle). It is true that AFHA are strict, but highly functional. My grandchildren are two of the best students in CT. You may not like the small stuff that is enforced, but your child will receive the education that they deserve, which will make them better adults. All children need direction in their life. Keep up the great work that you and the fantastic children at this school do. They are the "hardest working students in CT."
