3 of my children graduated from the school and one currently attends the school. I had to pull two of my children out of a private school due to bullying. They've had wonderful experiences at the school and the teachers are very involved!

There are plenty of opportunities for every student at this school, the only issue is that people don't take charge when they should. Not only is this precedent in clubs and sports, but in the classroom as well, where many students take charge and help others out, and at times help act as mentors to others (when I see this it's typically years very close to each other i.e. sophomores to freshmen). Leadership and helping kids guide their life is very effective, and my counselor Mrs. McCall even helped me with applications to summer camp programs at UC Berkeley, through the NYLF and NSLC.

I've witnessed first hand how students with learning differences are treated, as have many people in this school, and as many can tell you, there is unbalance. Students get different levels of education mainly depending on the way they take classes. People that take CP for example, are at a disadvantage typically to begin with, but the difference in what actually gets learned between CP and Honors classes is HUGE. People in CP for example, don't even learn trigonometry until Integrated Math IV, whereas someone taking Honors can get familiar with the concept of trigonometry by Integrated Math II Honors. To put that in perspective, that is the difference of waiting as many as four years to learn what the cos, sin, and tan buttons on the calculator do, as opposed to waiting as little as one semester to learn the same basic concepts! Now, that gap probably isn't the fault of the school district, but rather common core standards, however it still is a significant gap that should be addressed.

Appoquinimink High School *conditionally* is one of the best schools you can find. I say conditionally because it really depends on what kind of student someone is; those that work harder and strive for more typically turn out better than those that do not do their work, and that comes to no surprise to anyone, but it's a common sense thing that MUST be stated. If you're not going to do work at this school, then it's just like any other school. Otherwise, while issues that happen in most schools like sexting and drugs do happen in here, and there is a group of kids that I urge everyone to stay away from, it's a great school and can only lead to opportunities. Students are relatively nice, counselors are cooperative and will work with you on anything and nearly everything you need, and teachers are typically good at teaching (with few exceptions, most of which leave after one year). As someone who gets higher grades than most, it's not hard to get them, but in some pathways and classes, you definitely have to work harder than others. There's no bullying in this school as others have said, and the environment is just fantastic. If anyone going into Appo is reading this, and assuming that the teachers I'm about to list are still in the school, I would strongly advise you to try to have Mr. Lunsford (PLTW Engineering - POE, DE, EDD), Mr. Hoffses (IM III and Calculus AB), Mr. Milchovich (World Studies Honors, occasionally AP Psychology, and AP Human Geography), and Mrs. McCloskey (Spanish II and Spanish IV). Personally, Mr. Lunsford was my favorite teacher because of how he approached teaching, and not only gave us an education, but life advice. I'd have to say that the last three teachers are all tied, but I'll give some insight on them. Mr. Milchovich is a hilarious teacher, his World Studies Honors class was one of my most fun classes, and I actually learned a lot in it. Mrs. McCloskey was my favorite language teacher because she tried to keep the playing field as even as possible, and in doing so still shared bits about her personal life (which I found interesting). Mr. Hoffses is just an overall great teacher; Hoffses makes teaching easy, and he's one of those teachers that doesn't really talk about his personal life, but gets stuff done and done right. I'm proud to say that I've gone to Appo and I love the school.

The "homework" policy at Appo is very different from teacher to teacher; some teachers make students do more work for a high payoff, whereas some teachers simply assign whatever was not finished in class. Having a solid policy would be easier for students to remember homework, but the way that it is right now isn't hurting anyone. I did not strongly agree with the statement however, because I felt that at times (and it REALLY depends on the teacher) I was given the equivalent of classwork for homework, and I was assigned something that was more for the classroom rather than an at-home assignment.

From what I have experienced, the teachers at this school are phenomenal, so long as you take classes that are either Honors or AP. CP classes are a nightmare for the teacher and the student, because most of the people that take them just don't care, and that puts stress on the teacher. However for the most part, in the Honors classes I've taken and my engineering pathway (shout out to Lunsford btw) have just seen teachers that really strive to teach people, besides one year's English I Honors teacher, where I felt that I wasn't graded the same as others, but she is long gone. Teachers at this school have encouraged me to strive for more, and be as great as I can be.

This really depends on the student and their willingness to comply. You have to keep in mind that this is a school, not marriage counseling. The school is very effective at helping students that seek development through bettering themselves, by often offering them better opportunities than who do not care about school. They teach it to us all the same, but the way that people take it in is not the same, and many people will often times neglect the lessons and then they're typically given up on. Many people in my grade just don't care, and it shows when they're talking to counselors and their input isn't really counted the same.

Appo is a wonderful school. My granddaughter just graduated this month. all thru high school she had wonderful teachers that were there to help whenever she needed it, all she had to do was email them and they got back to her right away. She was always coming home with a story that happened in class that made learning fun.

Appo is a very excellent school and as a freshman i enjoyed my first year, all of my teachers were excellent and I did an amazing job at this school! i had great scored on the state testing. The sports organizations are great and so are the clubs. Our sports fields are AMAZING and I always look forward to going onto the fields! This school is just as good as a top rated private school. APPO JAGS RULE!!!!!

Great school no bullying just fantastic benign a freshman is awesosome. The only thing is the sophomores are not mature yet
