The principal is horrible!!! I would not recommend that anyone enroll their child in this school. I have tried to be an attentive parent, but the school does not try to meet you half way. Ever since they changed principals the school has gone down hill!

Alton is a community school that not only challenges students but also supports them academically and socially. This small school is unique because no student is a stranger and every child has an opportunity to grow. While the teachers maintain academic and social expectations, there is a network of support that includes the administration and the staff. Every child is valued at Alton.

Alton is an excellent school and deserves much more praise than it receives. The teachers are so devoted and genuinely care about the academic and personal success of the students. The fieldtrips, tutoring programs, "banking day" events and other programs like last month's black history program create new experiences and motivate the students to learn. The principal is a strong leader and displays a wonderful mix of guidance, discipline and compassion for the children. Alton is a great place to educate our future leaders.

Not enough or any discipline. Therefore, if your child is being bullied expect him/her to slowly become depressed from the constant bullying. Even after it is reported nothing will happen except for documenting it! After taking over since 2 years ago, the new principal seems like a paycheck is most important. The teacher's are excellent!!! Parental participation is has become better in the past 3 years.
