So far I am happy with this school. Teachers and faculties have been great with my kids. Whenever I call for something they answer promptly. I just it keeps up with great work, because I still have some kiddos going to that school.

Both daughters went through this school. Complaints are not enough to even mention. Great teachers. My daughters were in honors. Both had intensive lessons that involved deep thinking and extensive writing. All of which I attribute to how well they do now.

The school's homework policy is inconsistant and leaves everything up to the teacher. This school basically allows every teacher to assign the student an hours worth of homework and can demand it due the next day (something I, a class of 2020 clearwood graduate experienced). The homework approach needs serious revisions and should make sure that it does not burden the student so much.

After going through this school for 5 years, I have learned that the teachers are pretty hit or miss. Half are snarky and have an attitude and don't really want to educate you, they just want a pay check. Whereas many others are kind and caring and give you a nurturing learning environment and you can learn there and feel safe. There are also a few who are snarky but still get the job done. Overall some teachers are fine, others aren't

The leadership opprotunites at this school are all made so that you have to be incredibly brainwashed to actually learn something from them. None of them give you, the student, any real control or leadership in your community. The most I ever got to do as a student council member was vote on a theme for a dance, and many other esteemed leadership clubs (such as NJHS and Beta) are like this as well. After the 2 years in these leadership clubs all I really learned was that the school treats the "good" students better and gives them more oportunities.

This is the only good thing about the school, the school ensures disabled students get the same, even though it is still bad, education the rest of us did.

This school's bullying policy for the first four years of my life included a homophobic line, and then, in my last year, when it was changed, the policy no longer drew any lines about bullying but instead covered the forms of bullying. After experiencing bullying myself, I learned that the school really couldn't care less about it and you have to deal with it yourself. And then, after that, the school fights back and says that "you should never take matters into your own hands" well when we don't, nothing happens. The only staff members who listien to you either don't have any power to do something, or they do and the school admins don't care about it and don't do anything.

I've been through all 5 years offered at this school and it's gone through many changes. My 1st years were enjoyable other than teachers who treated their students poorly(walked out the classroom and never returned, single out students and treat them worse than the others, and overall didn't do much productive work). But after those years, the changes from the school board and the school came too fast for students to handle and these recent 2 years have been miserable for myself and others on the school standpoint. The other students at the school are very understanding of others and don't bother people. I used to say the years at the school have been amazing and it saddened me to think about leaving. But now, it makes me happy to get away from Clearwood. So now, I would rate this school 4/10

Teachers only give homework when needed or is unfinished in class.

I personally have had a few teachers that deeply cared for their student's education and did everything in their power to help students excel and progress. However, I have also had quite a few teachers that would slack-off and not care for the needs of their students. I've had teachers leave the class and not come back and ones that didn't teach us anything and everyone was concerned they were going to fail because of said teachers.

This school does not develop character in it's students because it gives very few people to respect. Kids don't show someone respect unless it's equally returned. This is the case here. The administration doesn't give the students any reason to respect them with the choices they have made. Some teachers make up for this, but, not many. This school doesn't develop many forms of integrity with its students, I find.

Administration at the school was decent during my 1st years at Clearwood. Then, got worse and worse till we were stuck with newer administration. The new administration treats the junior high grades like 3rd graders and doesn't help the 7th and 8th graders know what they'll need to expect in high school. The students, therefore, don't see anyone as their "leader" and don't see any administration as someone they can turn to for anything.

I have worked with some of the kids with learning differences before. Many teachers try to accommodate for these students to the best of their ability. Many teacher aids are trained well to handle any student's needs.

I personally haven't seen many cases of bullying at this school but, I've heard of one or two times where a bullying situation was going on and the teachers/administration did nothing about it.

I have no complaints. My son does well and enjoys attending this school. I do feel like he is challenged with his work and that is great.

School is totally disorganized and does not care about the students at all. my child failed and they passed him anyway. i asked them to hold him back because i knew he was not ready. they told m they could not do this. now this year is nothing but problems and all they want to do is punish him.

The Teachers and Staff do not work with students. They often make assumptions about students without effectively communicating the student and their parents. The principal will oftentimes only consider the teacher's side of a situation and dismiss the student's version, even when many other students are providing proof in the students behalf.

As many other parents have stated, it is very difficult to get the attention the secretaries. They sit and gossip openly about other students and staff members, while you are waiting to speak to someone. My child has also experienced this also when asking to call home due to illnesses. So many times he has come home angry with me for not caring about him because he assumed that they called me. Plus, the principal seems to care more about his staff and not the welfare of the children. When showing actual evidence of a teacher's mistake, he refused to acknowledge it and still suspended my child. After going to the school board, I was able to get it reversed. There is also a huge lack of communication with the parents, unless your child is one the "golden children". Yes, this school is a good for those group of children who are your typical popular children. So, if your child is not this type then there will be issues.

This school has gone through some ups and downs as far staffing but in the last few years the teachers and administrators have improved immensely. This is one of the best junior highs in Slidell. Lots of parental involvement! Small school with family atmosphere.

I was there today. The front office staff was clueless. It is very clear that the staff here are not involved with the students. They do not care at all.

The asst. principal here is lacking any and all social skills.... This woman is disliked by not only her students, but also by her students' parents, co-workers and peers alike. It's a shame because the principal seems to be intimidated by her as well and he really is a nice man, however, the atmosphere generated by this overwhelmingly strong, uncaring personality of the asst principal dominates and has a very negative affect on this facility. Could this be "the rude person" that was supposedly moved from the front office according to another posting? If so, she is unfortunately still there... However, it does seem like retirement is long over due for her.

I agree with the previous parent about the math teacher, although she will be moved down a grade she still will be attempting to teach our children. She does not grade fairly if she grades your child's paper at all, she is so unorganized that she loses the work fairly regularly then gives you a zero for it. The list can go on and on... Bottom line is this teacher needs to go back to school herself. As far as the administration they need to retire and let someone who is fresh and ready to handle the faculty and students fairly.

Much improvement over the years. The rude person in the office was moved to a new location in the school. Teachers are excellent and very approachable. Sorry to see my last child leave this year. His test scores have improved remarkable with each year. One of the best PTA programs ever!

I have been a parent off and on for the past 15 years and have seen the school go through many changes. I think the parent/teacher communication has greatly improved. As for the comments regarding the appearance..it is an old school. I believe several awards have been won for cleanest school. We have had some wonderful and supportive teachers through the years

I have one child that has been attending here for 3 yrs now and another that will be going there next yr. My child has to walk to and from school on a daily basis bc there is no bus route for her bc we live so close to school, but is still a good distance for a walker. She and many others have to walk through the school yard to get to school which most of the time is overgrown with high grass or too wet like a pond on rainy days. I have asked and spoke with the principal on many occasions about getting these kids that walk a sidewalk put through the school yard so they can get to and from school without getting muddy and wet or having to walk through tall grass, but nothing seems to help on getting a sidewalk yet! PLEASE HELP!!!!! concerned parents in northwood
