All I can say is I’m glad we’re out of HIE! I can’t rate it high because we aren’t too happy with HIE.

Teachers at this school can be really nice. I know u have to be involved, teachers like that and you get to know the teachers better.

Some teachers do but not all. It starts from the top all the way down. Be the example you want your students to be yet they can’t do it themselves! Kids learn from adults which is not a great example.

I don’t have a problem with the teachers here at all. The only thing I noticed is that I also subbed here & NOT ONCE did the principal or the assistant principal thanked me for coming in like other schools. I never felt welcomed here to be honest. I just subbed bc my little one attended HIE. I also noticed the assistant principal wasn’t too kind to me. She would see me in the hallway and just ignore me without a goodmorning, yet she would see teachers and be ready to greet them. Guess bc I was just a “sub”. Kids watch how others are treated, so they would see how I would be treated too!

My daughter loves this school. Over all we had a good experience. Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Troyer are really nice and I don’t have any negative things to say about either of them. I just wish other areas could be better such as bullying but I think that’s in every school’s not just this one. Also, some of the 3rd grade teachers need to relax a bit they seem over stressed and always mad. They don’t seem as kind and happy to be there. They never smile or say hi or say how are you doing which is really surprising to me since I always volunteer at the school and help out.

Teachers are ok. They seem stressed. Some can be rude. I can hear them yelling across the hallways or when I have lunch with my daughter in the cafeteria.

Yes. You have to go to the meetings with the teacher and they will let you know that if they child is struggling that you may stop at about 30 mins. Write 30 mins on there and there you are done. They understand they are in school all day and become frustrated if they don’t understand the material. It’s not worth the fight. Of course if you don’t go to the meetings you won’t know this. Stay involved!

The principals are so professional and kind. Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Troyer are by far some of the fairest and kindest principals I’ve met. They go above and beyond for those students on a daily basis!

We moved here from California and I had heard some bad things about Louisiana Schools. I researched and found out from a lot of locals that this was by far the best school to send your child to. Because my daughter was new, it worked for us that the school is only 2nd and 3rd graders, so it was a lot less intimidating. The school was excellent, even above the standards we were used to. I was very impressed with the quality of work, the grading scale and the fieldtrips that she was able to participate in. Not to mention the "positive reinforcement" with rewarding the children with buzz bucks when they did something right. It was very cool. I even got a "good news call" from the principle to tell me that my daughter was doing very well in her class. She is thriving there and got straight A's on her report card ( a first for us ). I would highly recommend this school to any undeciding parents.

This was our first year after transferring from Whispering Forest and what a shock. Such a different environment. I've heard the feeder schools are worse. Classes are larger..too many kids. The traffic before and after is unbelievable. I've encountered similar issues with school involvement in activities seeimingly limited to certain children and parents. We are seriously considering moving out of this district.

great school. although crowded due to this area's reputation of good schools, The class size is fairly small compared other parts of the country.With all the staple resources that hasn't suffered budget cut , like structured PE class , music class , art class,gifted program, special ed program - even Suzuki string class, singing bee, Lego league....you couldn't ask more from a public school.Parents are very involved, teachers and staff are respectful.
