Best private school in St. Tammany parish! Care and concern for each child is paramount. The administrator has a doctorate and years of certified teaching experience and is a dedicated and caring professional. She has a great team of teachers and support personnel. They use the Abeka and Bob Jones University curriculum. Would highly recommend!

Since new principal took over a couple years ago. This school has really went down hill. She is very arrogant and seems to think everyone is beneath her.

Most if not all the teachers are not real teachers as far as degrees or experience teaching. Most of the staff from the principal on down seem to be nothing but bullies of the children.

They have favoritism as far as some kids can do what others can not. Just because their parent is involved in staff.

they have rules that are unwritten and not in handbook. Because principal decides to create one when the mood hits.

The Calvary handbook has duplicate punishments for discipline and is at the principal and secretarys discretion to who it applies. Additionally it states the method of appeal from the principal is meeting with the school committee/board. However, the principal does not allow anyone to know who to contact for the committee or board to initiate an appeal so the appeal process is void. The principal attacks the childrens character with written scripture she claims to be Christlike. Many investigations underway on the principals behavior over the last two years.

I like the fact that all CBS elementary and jr high teachers are degreed. Some preschool as well. The school strives to employ spiritually mature, highly experienced and motivated teachers.

Mrs Morse, school committee and TWC have done an incredible job at school improvements. She is also a great communicator with teachers, parents and students. One of the best at ensuring students academic and spiritual success.

Two other parents I know have praised Mrs Morse and the childs techer on thier compassion and understanding of students needs. One of them, after attempts from the teacher and conversations with Mrs Morse, did they conclude their child was not ready. True involvement of parents concerns and childs success.

As a parent, as most of us, get involved when its a negative situation. My child is more important. He was in public school through 3rd grade. At CBS, he is excited to go and accepted better than in public school. This is every parents prayer. It is answered at CBS!

I have read so many rescent comments. Unfortuently individuals pose as parents and make slanderous comments regarding our amazing school. I grew up in New England and was challenged with more homework that I see my 7th grader coming home with. Challenging work should be welcomed by "parents and teachers" it will help to mold our children as they grow and enter high school. Why should we complain about this? Teachers being let go this is normal in a private or public school setting depending on how perform and teach our children. As a CEO of a company I have had to make changes for the betterment of my practice what is wrong with bringing in better more effective people? Stop blaming one person and take responsibility as an adult. Calvary is an amazing school one that loves ALL children and challenges them in ways they need to be challenged. I am thankful and beyond blessed to be part of this amazing school. I am hopeful as a parent that we get a high school that is how much I believe in our school, faculty and principal. I work extra hard to send my child here and I would never send her somewhere where I get I was wasting money. Thank you CBS and Kelly Morse for your love and dedication to our school and please remember this truth from the gospel of Luke: Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

Character is something that the students will take with them for the rest of their lives. At Calvary, character is a very big deal. We have witnessed the character building from Pre K4 and up. I have personally witnessed acts of kindness when they didnt know others were watching.

The administration has been fantastic. So many positive changes have occurred recently and I look forward to what the future holds for Calvary. Mrs. Morse is available for any concerns and its great to walk around during school functions and watch all different ages of children run to give her a hug. I have seen her take several minutes out of her busy schedule to tell her children (the students) hello. I have also seen faculty and administration pray for students and their families in good times and in bad.

Bullying is not tolerated at Calvary Baptist School. Our child was bullied for a very brief period of time. The teacher handled it right away and followed up to make sure everything was ok several days after. On the same note as all children do, our child had a moment when they were not as nice as they should have been. It was brought to our attention immediately in a very caring and nurturing way. I could not have been happier at both outcomes.

I cant say enough good about the teachers at Calvary. They care about each student and it shows from day one. So many times, our childs teacher has gone above and beyond to help our child and we have witnessed the same with other children and families. It is not just an 8-3 job for many of the teachers at Calvary.

My family is very happy with Calvary Baptist School. Our child has been going there for over three years and started in the Pre-k class. He loves to learn and has learned so much in the past three years. The teachers, faculty, and administration truly care for the students. They have helped build a strong educational and Biblical foundation for our child that will carry into the future. Sure, issues come up but if you address your issues or list your concerns, they have all been handled in a very respectful and courteous way that has benefited all parties. The students are not just a number, they are part of Calvary and will forever be. Calvary Baptist Christian School has true Christian core values and it shows in their actions, NOT just in name.

Is such a blessing! It is small not a lot of children to each class so they can learn more and bind better with peers as well! I went as a child so it was only option for me to send my own! She loves her school, teachers, friends and homework! I will be sending my son as well! The principle tables care if all matters in a Christian way and that's hard to find at a school! They don't claim to be Christian's they are and lead by example! What more would you want from a school

Excellent school! The curriculum is one of the best around. The teachers and administration are amazing. The students here are not looked upon as another head count but instead as a family. I can rest easy knowing my child is receiving a top notch education in a Christlike environment.

Mrs. Morse does not know how to be a leader. She takes the word of someone and takes it as the gospel truth. The person who is accused of doing things is automatically guilty. This applies to both teachers and students.

Teachers that teach first through eighth grade are no longer required to hold four year degrees--two year degrees are now allowed to teach at the elementary level of the school. Preschool teachers are not required to have any degree at all.
The leadership of the school is lacking. Kelly Morse, principal of the school, plays favorites with the students and staff. The discipline at the school can be abhorrent. Students can talk back to the teachers, walk around the classroom without permission, walk out of the classroom without permission, and cause chaos in the rooms. Parents have called to complain and nothing is done. Those teachers are allowed to return to a classroom the next year.
The quality of the education has gone down as well. Teachers are not allowed to teach as the curriculum requires. Abeka is not supposed to be an easy curriculum. Parents pay for high standards. Kelly Morse has lowered the standards and easy grades, the constant giving of extra credit is the norm and study guides that are IDENTICAL to the test. Students no longer have to earn the grades they are given; they can have their parents cry to the principal about the mean teachers and she will bully the teachers into giving the student extra credit to pass.
Boy sports offered: basketball and football
Girl Sports offered: cheerleading and basketball (if they can find a coach)
Extracurriculars: Music, P.E., and library
Other than opening the school year, I have never seen the pastor at any function that deals with the school. He is very hands off which is problematic at best.

Preschool teachers are great at their jobs.
In the elementary/jr. high levels it gets sketchy as to how the teachers manage their classrooms. If there is a class that has problems with classroom management, you are wasting your money.

This school is wonderful! The teacher's are always so caring and attentive. The principal is always supportive and always listens to any concerns I may have. My child has learned SO MUCH this year. She barely knew her letters last summer and is now reading words in the FOUR YEAR OLD PROGRAM! The extracurricular activities are wonderful as well. My daughter is constantly telling me how much fun she has. I am apaulled that someone would give the school a 1 star rating because of the kitchen staff. The kids have been well fed since that incident. They have been using Picadilly Cafeteria, and when I order for my daughter, she always tells me how good it is. I love Calvary Baptist School! Unless something unforeseen happens, she will be attending Calvary through the eighth grade. I am hoping in the future they add a high school.

I have two boys there and love it. One of my boys is very strong willed and each teacher he has had worked very diligently to find his strengths and lovingly get him to listen. Especially Jeanfreau this year.

The teachers were very knowledgeable and attentive. The principal and pastor, along with the rest of the staff, were easily accessible. I am extremely impressed with the quality education my child received! I highly recommend this school!

I have to say that I am very disappointed with Calvary Baptist in a number of ways. The administration disciplines severely based on tattling by other children. I have never heard of so many infractions that weren't seen by an adult. Secondly, communication is horrible. The school has no working website to keep parents up to date on what is going on. I am lucky to get an email sometimes with the events of the week, but there is no predictability to when that email will be received. It could be the evening before an important event, or the week before, so if you should need to make arrangements to be there for anything, it is a gamble. Thirdly, the lunch situation is horrible. The $3.50 for lunch does not include milk. Milk for the year has to be purchased within the first 2 weeks of school, and after that there is no changing of your mind or purchasing it for a day. If your child can be challenging, Calvary is definitely not the setting for them. The administration is only too happy to apply a label to them and blow anything out of proportion in order to have the child leave the school. They are quite skilled at this process.

My children attended this school a couple of years ago. It is my belief that Calvary Baptist is limited on what they could offer my children. Whether, before and after care, teachers, education discipline, etc. I experienced challenges in all areas as at that time, the office secretary was running the school and the principal was what appeared to be second in command. We had to pay for everything which became quiet costly after a while. The teachers were not certified by the state in which I am clear the state nor Archdiocese requires, however, there was always a question of the educational quality my children were receiving. For a long time, I thought I was happy with Calvary Baptist until I began to observe some instances I could no longer appreciate nor continue to place my children. Accountability was key and that was something they were not willing to accept. As a result, I withdrew my children from the school and resorted to public education. My husband and I are quite satisfied with public education. Not only do my children get to experience the varying technological resources made available to them they also get top educational opportunities by certified teachers.

My child has attended Calvary for 5 years. Overall, I have had a good experience with this school. However, there are some things that exist which I think takes away from the school. I find that the school does give perference to particular parents at times; the lunch program is not a very good one in that if your child forgets to bring his/her lunch, the child is given water and crackers (I find that to be harsh and unusual as this is not the case at other private schools around the city); the children are given numerous "red slips" for random acts by random people (not sure if these people are teachers, paraprofessionals, etc) and then they are subject to a detention in which the parent has to pay for.

I think Calvary is a great school academicly,but they are seriously lacking on communication. I totally disagree with pre-3 &4 being suspended or having Saturday detention "these are kids" there should be other approaches to discipline. They teach the children to do what God wants us to do, but if a child forgets their lunch ay home they will not give the child a hot meal only water and a pack of crackers because they did not pay for a $3.50 lunch. That is not of GOD AT ALL. Calvery has the Abeka program just like the rest of the private schools. It is all about the money!
