My experience with Abney Early Childhood was extremely disappointing and frustrating. My son has ADHD and instead of receiving patience, support, and understanding, I often felt blamed and judged. I received a phone call from the coach where I was yelled at and told how “terrible” my own son was, which was completely unprofessional and hurtful.

There was also an incident where his teacher clearly wasn’t watching him because I had to come get him and take him to the emergency room because he had a bead up his nose. This could’ve caused serious injuries to my son.

They sent him home almost every single day rather than working with him or using appropriate behavior strategies. I also had a very difficult time getting his IEP accommodations respected and followed. Instead of creating an inclusive environment, it often felt like they saw my child as a problem.

His bus aide was very disrespectful and complained about his behavior to me as if he could help it. VERY unprofessional and just rude. I honestly feel that my son was discriminated against because of his disability.

What hurt the most was seeing him constantly left out of activities and programs. No child should feel excluded, especially one who needs extra support. Families with children who have ADHD or special needs deserve compassion, communication, and proper services—not judgment and exclusion. I would not recommend this school based on my experience.

These teachers are messy and I would not recommend this school

Teacher refuses to communicate even after a meeting still nothing.

I honestly think it depends on the teachers and parental involvement. My daughter went here for kindergarten and her teacher was great! My son was in kindergarten last year and his teacher was even better than my daughters a couple of years before. I am a very involved parent and had absolutely no problems at AEEC.

This is the worst school in St. Tammany. The teachers don't really give a damn about their students grades until they are so far behind. My child will not ask for help at school but I have trouble helping at home because the answers are debatable (well, it could be this BUT it could also technically be this. No choice for all of the above). We know there's a problem but no effort was made. Teacher doesn't want to deal with extra credit. 4th nine weeks are a mess thanks to standardized testing. And don't get me started on their PTA!

This school has way too many fees. I pay my taxes so why do I need to turn around and pay more.

I love this school!!!!!! If I had to choose a little school to go to, I would choose this school, definately! :)
