As a public school teacher myself (reading specialist), I critique the Beebe through both the eyes of an educator and as a parent. My daughter has only been at the school for two years but the experience so far has been great. Their curricula for both math and reading is excellent. The teachers are very caring and supportive. I think the school could have more extra curricular maybe, but thats about it. We are also happy with the schools afterschool options.

My child attended Beebe from K through 5th grade. The first few years were great with experienced kind teachers. Going remote during COVID was a huge challenge and the school may have done it's best in bad circumstances, but it turns out that second graders doing remote learning doesn't turn out so hot. One major result has been that my daughter has significantly delayed writing competency despite extra effort at home. In the wake of COVID, my child has had teachers with only a couple years experience, and the behavioral problems from other students have gotten way out of control. A school that had pride in students being respectful to one another now struggles with bullying that at times is spiraling into violence because no effective actions are taken to deal with the original problem. The inexperienced teachers lead to disruptive students (for instance, playing VR games in the classroom while other students are in instruction time). There's a significant reliance on kids drilling iXL and iReady on Chromebooks in lieu of hands on teaching, which leads to the types of problems you might expect (kids virtually wandering off to play games on computers). The school also doesn't seem to have any good ideas on how to deal with the harassment and bullying that are happening in social media, aside from sending home an email saying, hey Snapchat is recommended only for students 13 and older.
The district is deprived of resources so it's unable to retain and hire experienced staff, in fact it even had trouble filling all of the basic staff roles this year. They never managed to hire a Spanish teacher, and some other teachers left in the middle of the year. There are too many teachers on year-to-year contracts.
Malden is a school district exiting the low level in the state (low level school districts have a higher cap on how many kids can go to charter schools), this means that as that cap is reduced from 20% to 10%, there's a very limited number of students who can go into charters, and they are only able to go to Mystic Valley (you can go read their reviews to see what that school's problems are).
Given our child's current social struggles, the state of the district leadership (absent at best), limited charter options, and our fears of how much worse things are likely to get in middle school, we are arranging for our child to go to a Catholic school next year. We're not religious, so there's some reluctance involved, but there are limited options.

There is a huge banner right in the main lobby space that has a RESPECT acronym used to elaborate on behaviors that show respect. Group projects foster respect. Perhaps most noteworthy, is that this school has a diverse group of children in terms of ethnicity and household income. Being around each other at an early age creates empathy toward each other regardless of students race or financial means. They grow up to respect people who are different than each other, which is not something easy to teach without being immersed in it.

We are entering our third year at the school for my two children. We have had remarkable teachers. I have seen my children blossom. They have received a very well-rounded education and fair grading with a lot of encouragement.
I wish that children with extreme behavioral challenges would be removed from the classroom. As of first grade, there is no assistant. That means basically one teacher and up to 25 children. We happened to have an extreme class with two very, very troubled children and it disrupted the classroom all year long. I did not feel that the administration effectively helped our amazing teacher.
I think the parking situation is near impossible at school. The only way to drop off your children is to illegally double park or use the synagogue parking lot without permission. I wish they would aggressively address the situation to find a better solution.

Our experience is that the teachers have devoted a huge amount of personal time, resources, and care to each of their children's successes and development.

Based on my experience with my kids at Beebe school and their friends, I do feel and honestly they are treated correctly and fairely. Of course we hear different stories here and there, but you can't please everyone. If for one second I felt that this school does not provide my kids what they need first as human beings, seconds as kids and third as students they would be moved from there a long time ago.

I love this school. Both my kids go there, 7th grade and 3rd grade . They care about their students . My kids are safe there. I never heard any complaints that should worry me.

First i thought its a great school but its not. Some teachers are great but Admins here have double standards. I won't recommend this school to anyone!
