This school is absolutley horrible for any child. My biggest concern would be the way they "accomodate" kids based on their needs. The counclers and staff were completley useless when it came to the needs of my child. They're ignorance is honestly quite upsetting, they will tell you that they truely care for a child, and then proceed to carry out such actions that will prove otherwise. They will do the complete opposite of helping a child when they are struggling or need any special assistance or some kind. The words they have spoken to my child are nothing but completly selfish, they lack any understanding at all. The bathrooms are also disgusting, and there are plenty teachers who should not even be teachers in the first place. As for the education, im sure my child could learn more from a 10 minute video on Youtube then a whole month of classes in school. All the teachers do are repeat subjects from previous years, and it takes months from them to do so. They claim it will be more "detailed and more indepth," however it ends up to be just one or two more extra points to learn. How can any child learn properly in such a curriculum? Whatever you do, please do not enroll your child in this school, for the better of your own child. This school is disgusting and dissapointing. Administrators, Staff, Teachers, Principals..all ignorant. If your child is bullied, they'll suspend the kid for a few days. Thats the most they will do. This school is awful.

This school is the worst school my kid has been to. Theyve been at this school ever since Kindergarten, and there are so many teachers who are extremely rude and disrespectful. Some teachers luckily arent like that, but the majority of them are. Not only that, but the Administrators are lazy and point fingers to whoever they think was apart of a situation. My kid was falsely accused of skipping class in the bathroom, as other kids were inside FIGHTING IN THE STALL. This school is insanely unsafe and unguarded. One of the Eighth grade teachers were even forcing my kid to sing in front of the class. This school doesnt teach singing. If you want someone to do so, then go teach chorus. The same teacher even trashed the Administrators after they said to exclude my kid out of that assignment. Some of these teachers need to be put in their place. Its disgusting how my kid can be treated by them and get little to no punishment EVER. Never enroll your kid in this school unless youre ready for the massive amounts of complaints from them.

Ferryway is one of those schools where the on paper rating is a great disservice to the actual school. The middling theoretical rating of 5/10 is a reflection of the tough home situation a significant percentage of the children deal with. A significant number are low income, need extra help and/or do not speak English at home.
The Ferryway staff are excellent at serving the community of students. They put in a lot of effort especially on the social-emotional aspects of child growth. This is not a paper mill producing students for the sole purpose of attending some name brand university. The teachers here deal with real people with real problems and they are amazing.
The students are taught to be respectful and accepting and disciplined. Students with special needs get a lot of attention. "Normal" students who are having a bad day are received and guided with love and wisdom. Students who are a little ahead are given more challenging homework and tests.
My child is a bit sensitive. I have been amazed at how they have been nurtured, listened to and how teachers have adapted how they teach in order to accommodate her quirks, and how non judgmentally they guide her to improving her other behaviors. They do this for all the children I know of.
Like all public schools, it helps if you are involved in your child's education and meet regularly with the teachers to understand how you can help at home.
Ferryway is an example of how public education will save America.

I would give Ferryway a 3/5, I would have given them a 4 but the few negative experiences with administrative staff unfortunately overshadow the few pleasant highlights. Overall, I will say that if it wasn't for the convenience of the location I would most likely be moving her out this year.

My daughters kindergarten teacher is awesome but I am worried about her staying past 1st grade. Ferryway is not the best school, I grew up in Malden, it is a decent school but probably bottom of the list compared to other Malden schools. I will admit that i was pleasantly impressed by her Kindergarten teacher and the special education dept's evaluation and plan for my daughter going in to 1st grade but to be honest I am definitely looking to switch her out by second grade.

The administrative staff at Ferryway are the absolute worst that i have dealt with. They are rude, unapproachable and never helpful. I have experienced being ignored multiple times when bringing my daughter in to school. I have been yelled instead of informed of the policy regarding walking my then 5 year old to class. I have yet to have a positive or even neutral experience when visiting this school. It really makes me concerned for how students are treated by these administrators, they come off miserable and mean. I have made an attempt to complain to the Principal but he was not available nor responsive.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the special needs dept at Ferryway school. The program is effective, I feel she has a strong support system. The team is diverse and experienced. I left my daughter's evaluation thrilled by her progress and excited about the curriculum and plan set in place for her transition to first grade.

The teachers (6th grade) teachers are rude made my child feel in safe her younger brother was going into 6th grade he was terrified because of the English teacher he had heard about he started to cry he talked to his older sister friends about the English teacher and they said they barley made it out of the teachers class alive she told him to not talk to her buy the teacher gifts even if the teacher doesn't deserve them sit in the back never use the bathroom never leave the class never eat or drink or move never volunteer never do anything ferry way has good 6 grade teachers but the English teacher scared my son making him hate his 6th grade year
