Requested additional homework to challenge our child as they are well above average -- teachers in the 4th and now 5th grades have done this, but it took several meetings with the school to accomplish this.

The student to teacher ratio is better than most other schools in the county and have more resources per student than most if not all other schools in the county due to their pyramid program. However, parents must actively request additional resources for those opposite side of the spectrum that are gifted and talented.

School has a motto very similar to this instilled in their children; however, there is slight room for improvement in controlling bullying; however, once brought to their attention they deal with it adequately in a reactive response.

In 6 years we have seen 3 principals. Would like to see less turn-over in this area. Superintendant is restricted in $/student by state/county governments -- this should be raised to match Louden County, VA (next county over). However, with the castrated budget they are given, they are doing a good job.

This school specializes in children in the 'pyramid' program and does their best to integrate them as much as practical with main-stream children and removes them promptly if there are issues in the main-stream classrooms.

Physical bullying has not been observed. However, with regards to controlling emotional bullying they do not actively go out of their way to observe it; however, once brought to their attention they deal with it adequately in a reactive response rather than proactively.

Very good with some room for improvement. Like all government agencies, they need a bigger budget. However, with what they are given they do an excellent job with teachers, faculty, PTA, community involvement, etc. As their concentration in on the pyramid students, they do need to be actively reminded to address the needs of the gifted and talented and requires and hands-on approach from active parents to ensure this need is adequately met.
