Gordon Elementary School

I'm sure that there are better and worse schools but overall we have been satisfied with Gordon. All three of our children currently attend Gordon. The teachers have generally all been caring and professional. The facilities are well maintained, clean, and have an inviting feel. I'm satisfied how issues have been handle when they have come up. The one issue we have had is support for our IEP that we have with our oldest child. We get a lot of the same failure to follow the program with lip service as to why the school struggles to support the IEP. I know that they are very short staffed at the moment. It also doesn't help that the got a new principle last year that is not well liked by parents or staff, is never engaged with the students, has a very off-putting self centered demeanor and generally seems to lack to professional skill set to manage the school. With all of that said, I still feel very comfortable with my kids attending Gordon.

My children have been attending Gordon Elementary for two years now and they've loved it. All the teachers they've had have been wonderful. The teachers communicate with parents effectively via phone email or in person at pick up. The school is organized in their drop off and pick ups. The PTA is very active and always having fun events planned. Principal Grimm is a constant presence outside at pick up talking to parents and children, also very approachable. My children have flourished at this school as i'm sure most do.

We've experienced Gordon for three years now and have enjoyed each year. Two of our children have had to go to Shughart for 5th grade and both wish they could go back to Gordon. Comparing the two elementary schools on Linden Oaks Gordon is by far the more organized, the more friendly of the two, and better overall quality. Mr Grimm is always accessible and out greeting parents at release, teachers are approachable, and things just run so much more smoothly than at Shughart. We love Gordon!

Either the school or the instructors have some self reliance issues that needs to be addressed. We place our kids in the hands of these individuals for 7-8 hours a day to teach and educate, not to place failure due to their upbringing or beliefs. If your belief isn't in the Lord then who are you to pass judgment on a child who has faith in him. Instructors personal opinion shouldn't be used to judge or fail students. I would remove my child and report such actions to the school board
