Do not send your kids here!!!! Without fail, my child has gone to school for a couple of years here and they had not had a SINGLE consistent teacher. Either they are being fired or are leaving. He is constantly being taught by multiple subs, some of the teachers don't even have their license! Something must be going on behind the scenes. Either they aren't choosing very good teachers or the teachers are noticing something that us parents aren't.

Plus, the amount of disciplinary problems that occur have been ridiculous! Students who bully, fight, pick on, or injury others are never sealed with, or at least appropriately. My son has come home with so many complaints about many students in his class disrespecting teachers and when they"do something" it still continues.
The school focuses so much on extracurriculars, students feel ill prepared for these tests. In class, they seem like their doing great, but when those tests come around they do very poorly. My son used to be challenged, now he just sits in his chair bored all day. He used to score 5s and has dropped to 2s and 3s since he's started attending. And that i-ready program is now saying he is 2 years behind when he used to be on grade level.

Although the students have school 4 days a week, 9 hours is a LONG day to be in school, especially for the little ones. I don't know who's idea that was but my son comes home every night EXHAUSTED. These are kids and they are working them as if they are adults.

Something has got to change. My son tells me everything that goes on. Feels like every one there is fronting and that they are showing that they are this great school, but they don't have anything under control.

ZECA School of Arts and Technology was founded on the belief that every child deserves to succeed, especially those children who have been overlooked in the public school setting. The school strives to create an environment that provides children an opportunity to explore their talents, whether it is in arts or technology. As in any school, the educational facility has room to grow but with support of the surrounding community, this school could be so much more.

I have personally been through school and met many staff members and they want success for each student. They incorporate integrity and compassion by showing how to behave. I read the comments and I think it is one person that keeps posting nasty reviews. If you want to be positive go and volunteer if you can. Help your child. Be a model parent.

The data manager is awesome! Most of the staff that I have met were friendly and offered help always! School is what you make it as a parent and student. Be the example!

This school accepts all children. The diversity is important. There is a majority of Black American and this is great! All children need to identify and feel comfortable. Having mixed children can be difficult. This school offered open arms.

Reviews are one person's opinion. I am sure it is one or two angered teachers that could not find a comfortable place in the school. This happens! Not every job you obtain works out. It is not fair to make a review that detours others when there are many people wanting and working hard to make this school successful!

This school does believe in doing the work within school and not at home to ensure family time is honored. There are teachers at school to help with homework. There is an extra day to catch up if needed.

The teachers may seem strict to some people not used to dealing with kids who have issues. But, my children have never been bullied or abused by staff.

Leadership is this schools biggest problem, there isn’t any. The leaders do not lead, they dictate. The leader relies on advice from external advisors that frequently belittle teachers and instruct the leadership that teachers should not be listened to. The schools leadership blames their problems on everyone from previous teachers, parents, students, to the local government.

ZECA doesn’t have a h/w system. Instead there is a extended day. Not having homework means parents have less involvement in their child’s education. Also, the parents don’t see how poorly the children are performing which leads them to be less involved.

Teachers frequently get fired or quit and many classes go through multiple teachers in a year. The teachers are not equipped or enabled by the administration to be successful and newly qualified teachers are not mentored in any way. The school makes teachers feel unappreciated and that everything that is unsuccessful is their fault. Without being a hostile work environment it’s as close as you can get.

The administration at this school treats employees like in a high school environment. Administration thinks it is OK to talk about other employees during staff meetings. Administration frequently blames teachers for the deep behavior problems or lack of academic success from students. Administration does not take accountability for their shortcomings. Students frequently verbally And physically abused teachers, And administration shrugs their shoulders. Administration promises teachers raises based on excellent performance, but when the time comes teachers are given the run around.

There is only one special education for the whole school. That is unacceptable when every single classroom has anywhere between 5 to 8 students that require special education services. Students that have severe behavior disabilities are thrown in a regular classroom where they treat their peers horribly. Many of these students should not even be in a regular school environment, And when they get violent there is no one on campus Licensed or certified to treat them in that state or restrain them when they get physical.

The population that the school surfaces has the majority of parents telling their students that if somebody tells them something they need to beat them up. Frequently you will have students yelling at each other, cursing, and even threatening to get physical with each other in the middle of the classroom. Whenever the principal or the vice principal are not too busy they come into the classroom and just make people apologize and walk out. Students are frequently bullied and a parents lash out against teachers, but teachers are trying to deal with this situation, but the administration thinks it's not a big deal.

There is a no homework policy. But when you have the majority of your class 2 or 3 grade levels behind, the regular school day is not enough to catch the students up. The students are set up for failure with no support to the material at home.

Teachers at the school are extremely talented. However lack of basic classroom infrastructure, resources, books, and basic necessities such as paper make it very difficult to be a successful teacher at the school.

I have worked at many schools in my public school service, and this is by far the worst school I have ever been at. This school is filled with students that have been unsuccessful at the regular public school. It functions as an alternative school in everything but name. Teachers have to spend hundreds of dollars in their classrooms, they are expected to work evenings and sometimes even nights for school events without extra pay. When teachers have emergencies or need to take time off, the days off are Usually not approved because they say they cannot find a substitute teacher. However reality is that they just do not want to pay someone to come in while you take PTO. Parents feel that they have the right to come into the school and curse teachers out and try to fight them. Administration, There is no other word to put it, is petty. The secon that you don't go in the direction they want you to go in, you are Public Enemy number one and will do anything in their power to make your life miserable. Teachers are constantly berated. The principal has staff meetings with presentations letting staff and teachers know that being physically assaulted by a student, not receiving enough support in the classroom, or Feeling harassed in the workplace are not reasons for them to quit. There is never any money for books or computers for the students, But there was always enough my new for the principal to have multiple assistants that run a variety of personal errands for her. Students are expected to bring money so they can participate in school functions thay should be free during the school day. Students have to buy a very expensive school uniform That looks like a cheap prep school knock off. The school is on the verge of being shut down due to funding issues or lack of academic solvency. Administration tries to make it the teacher's problem, but that is the number one issue. Every single year the school has a completely new set of staff, And the staff switches up multiple times throughout that year. Classrooms have 3-4 for teachers per year. When staff keeps quitting and leaving left and right, you would think that the administration would try and figure out what they are doing wrong instead of blaming the teachers who have left.

Horrible. Kids hate attending. Probably because the school lacks resources. belittled them as individuals and placed them in a hostile environment daily. Little learning is taking place, teschers lack the resources and support to maintain an effective environment.

Kids bully, and teachers bully too. The lower grades cant even go to the bathroom by themselves there was always a teacher in the bathroom with the boys. Kids are treated like they are in juvie. Kids cry everyday and parents are rarely in the school at all.

This school lacks resources. There isnt a library, most teachers spend their time yelling at the kids a expecting rote memorization. The kids lose their recess and then are yelled at for having too much energy during their 8am to 5pm days. they don't have a playground either, they have to walk through traffic to use the public one.

The staff bullies the kids, tells them to shut up, treats them like they are in juvy and yells at them constantly. They don't have a kitchen either, theirfood is delivered, comminly late, and gross. Even if a student brings lunch kids are required to eat the school lunch even if they are crying and statingtheir parents wantthem to eat their packed lunch.

This school requires a lot of resources in order to meet the needs of the students. For a business, this school is very lax and the teacher turn-over rate is extremely high which is why there are substitute teachers in the classroom. There are no resources for teachers to use. Teachers have to buy their own resources. Students' records are MIA. There are a lot of compliance and unethical issues that should raise a red flag. Leadership expects a lot but gives no direction. Professional Development is a joke. It is not geared towards teachers profession but towards personal growth.

Leadership at this school sucks. The leadership at this school is more of a dictatorship. There is no support when it comes to behavioral students. There is no support for the teachers. Leadership cares more about the number of students in the school than meeting the needs of the students.

I would rate it a 10 out of 10. Since my son has been here he has flourished and for once doesn't feel the need to take a stress ball to school everyday. He has ASD and his old schools never took that into consideration and didn't take his actual needs seriously. I even enrolled my daughter and she is doing amazing. Both of my children have progressed so much since being part of the ZECA family!!

The school is really growing! My daughter has greatly improved since attending whereas she was ignored and misunderstood in her old school. She is happier and thanks to the arts they do here she is able to learn in many different ways!

This school is as bad as it gets. Teachers are subpar, miserable, and lack luster. The programs are a joke. It literally is an after school program disguised as a school. There is not a lot of learning or student/teacher engagement going on. ANY other school in Jacksonville would be a serious upgrade.
