This is my second year at The Math and Science Academy of Apex aks TMSA Apex. I love the school. Teachers and administrators are friendly. If I feel sad, they always check and help me. School atmosphere is great.

1. Students and parents learned that a student made a list of people she wants to target and that she had brought a weapon to school. When parents asked the school to confirm or deny these claims the school refused to provide anything other than that they had reached out to police and that they had taken all necessary precautions. The extent of the precautions were not shared with the parents.

2. The Fall Festival had a Free Palestine table set up at which keffiyehs were given out and flags snd Free Palestine signs were displayed. It was the only political table set up. When asked to take the politically motivated table down was told its not political and that it would not be removed.

Do what you will with this information but it was enough for us to run far away.

TMSA-Apex is still in the process of developing. It is not as good as the five star ratings assert, and also not as bad as some other ratings say. Honestly, it is somewhere around a 3.5 star rating, better than most other Wake County public schools, yet with areas where improvements need to occur. The positives of the school are the newness and cleanliness of the facility, the behavior and academic focus of the student body, and the efforts of the administration to improve. Negatives include high variance in teacher quality, the cultural mindset of administrators, and a teaching curriculum that requires redefinition.

Although TMSA-Apex is a charter school, and bases its enrollment on random processes, kids at the school are very academically oriented and generally very well behaved. As a parent, I'm not aware of any incidents of bullying or significant misbehavior. Kids at the school seem to be quite polite and motivated to do well. Student attitudes result in a mostly positive learning environment. The administration tries to build on these attitudes, and I sense that the administration is also trying to make the school better.

Truthfully, however, some administration efforts sometimes come off as overly superficial and such efforts might be better redirected to areas of genuine concern. Part of the reason for this might be that administrators are overwhelmingly of foreign origin, mostly Middle Easterners. Culturally, there sometimes are disconnects.

More attention needs to go to improving teacher quality and teaching methods. In some classes, there is way too much reliance on resources like IXL and other such teaching aids. Many teachers need to engage more on a personal level with their students, but in many cases in order to do this their own quality needs to improve. This is not true for all teachers, and there are many truly exceptional educators at TMSA-Apex. But, there are also some teachers who are not up to the standards that they should be. Again, variance in teacher quality at the school is high, and this needs to be better addressed, as does betterment of teaching approaches.

As far as recommending the school, this is not a school for all. If your child is to be well educated at this school, fit is important. He/she needs to be academically oriented or things will not go well. Parental investment is also a must to make up for areas where teaching is below par. If you have such time and willingness, however, this could be a good choice.

We are extremely happy with the school and truly appreciate the effort and dedication of the teachers and staff. The environment is very welcoming, safe, and nurturing, which makes children excited to come to school every day. The teaching methods are engaging and balanced, focusing not only on academics but also on values, creativity, and overall personality development. Communication with parents is always clear and proactive, and we feel very supported as a family. Its wonderful to see the confidence and growth in our child, and we are grateful for the strong foundation this school is providing.

Its a great school overall, and it has all the facilities you should expect from a top-ranking high school. Teachers are experienced. One of the best qualities is discipline and Uniform. They emphasize a lot of learning and good academics, so if you are aiming for a school, where your son or daughter can get high grades then this is the school you should consider.

The quality of this elementary school has declined rapidly in recent years, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among both parents and staff. Many of the most dedicated and talented teachers have left, likely due to ongoing administrative challenges that create a frustrating work environment. This high turnover negatively impacts student learning and continuity, leaving children struggling to adjust to constant changes in faculty.

The current administration appears to lack the ability to foster a respectful and supportive atmosphere. Teachers and staff are often treated in a way that undermines professionalism, creating a workplace culture that feels more controlling than collaborative. Parents have reported that interactions with school leadership can be dismissive, rigid, and lacking in transparency, making it difficult to address concerns or advocate for student needs effectively.

Unfortunately, students also bear the brunt of the administrations shortcomings. Strict policies have created an environment that feels more punitive than nurturing. Rather than fostering curiosity, creativity, and personal growth, the schools approach seems overly focused on control and compliance, leaving many children feeling restricted rather than supported. This has led to an overall decline in student morale and engagement.

For families considering this school, it may be worth exploring other options that prioritize strong leadership, teacher retention, and a positive educational experience. Schools should be places of learning, encouragement, and development, and unfortunately, this one currently falls short of those expectations.

I was reading through the reviews and couldnt help but laugh. Of course, no school can satisfy everyone completelybut when you see over 20 reviews and the vast majority are glowing, its a bit ridiculous to focus on a few negative ones about what is clearly a great school.
What surprises me most is that some of the negative reviewers kept their child enrolled for one or two years. If you were truly unhappy, why not withdraw earlier and make room for someone elseespecially when theres a long waitlist? My nephew has been waiting to get in since we enrolled!

My child has been at TMSA Apex since it opened three years ago, and I can confidently say it was one of the best decisions weve made. The staff is friendly, the curriculum is rigorous, the environment is welcoming, and students are treated like leaders. My childs leadership skills have grown tremendously thanks to the Leader in Me program.

The teachers, teaching assistants, front office staff, assistant principals, and the principaltheyre all amazing. They genuinely listen if you have a concern and go out of their way to help. The principal is everywhereclassrooms, carpool line, front officeyou name it.

If I had one wish, its that the school were bigger or that they could open another campus nearby. The demand is real, and so many families would benefit from this incredible school.

My child was here for a year and a half and it was the worst experience that we've ever had. Her teacher was rude. Didn't teach anything. Didn't give any lessons and just made them do computer work. The administration ignored us other than one assistant principal. We were denied a request for her to move to a different classroom. The teacher was instructed by her superiors to keep us in the loop and we never got anything home that our child did at school. We pulled our child out immediately and she's much happier at public school. Do not send your child here. I am an educator myself and I have been for 20 years and I can say it's one of the worst schools I've seen.

I love my school.
This is my first year in the school and in NC and I am already used to it. Great environment. Cafeteria could be better but other than that everything is awesome.

This school is very unsafe. There were fights regularly and they said we had to go to school even when there was a hurricane. The roofs leaked and the 3rd floor was partially flooded

The safety concern of this school for families is so low they have no idea what bad weather is and let us go to school during a hurricane. People fight a lot and most of the teachers and substitutes do not care about student education.

Trust me when I say that this school is the worst I have ever been to and I have been to over 4 schools. There were dead rats around the school making it a major safety hazard. We have not had any field trips whatsoever. The food that the school provides is way overpriced. We were supposed to have our field built last year, but it still looks the same as when it first started, nothing but dirt. This school is also very unsafe, they had the students go to school during a category 4.5+ hurricane with many risks. This school is also very inconsiderate about giving students any breaks. As you know it rarely snows in North Carolina and when it did this year, the school made us students have online school. By the time we were free, the snow had already melted making it a sad day. The school does not even appreciate the hardworking students. In OTHER SCHOOls we had McDonald's breakfast every quarter for those who got straight A's. This school does not even have anything or even give a speech appreciating us hardworking students. The school also does not check up on how the large amount of homework is affecting students. I know I can speak on behalf of other students when I say this school has destroyed our sleep schedule. We end up staying up very late doing work. Don't even get me started on weekends. We get so much work even over the weekends. At times I consider switching schools there and then. With every bone, vein, and motivation I have left, DO NOT SEND YOUR STUDENT HERE. FOR THERE OWN WELL BEING.

I have gone through many hardships and sleepless nights before writing this review. I would not be writing this review unless I was absolutely desperate. I would not recommend this school to anyone. It is horrible and it gives no time for anything else and is horrible stress for anyone who does other things besides just school.
