Tucker creek is a not very good school, the food is mysterious everyday and you have to guess what it is because the food they say in the announcements is not accurate to what they actually serve. The teachers just get packets from the internet and passes it off like it actually teaches u it when there are kids that are playing games in the middle of the class and failing miserably.

This school was horrible. Do not sign your child up, I promise you there are better schools out there. The teachers are mad disrespectful and the principal is so childish. This is the worst school I’ve been to, this is coming from somebody who has been to a couple schools before. Also the school lunch is disgusting. Random bones are found in the schools chicken, one of the bones looked like a spine.. most of the meat is uncooked. Overall this school needs to be shut down.

It’s ok. The teachers give up so quickly and don’t listen to students when MOST needed. The principles don’t try to improve the students experience and whenever something happens they brush it off like it’s nothing. The librarian is the only person who really cares about students. There are dances and stuff like that but there are SO MANY RULES. The bathroom situation is so stupid. Most of my time at Tucker creek (2021-2022) we had to go to the bathrooms in groups just in case of fights and stuff like that. The elective teachers were the only teachers students could got to for help and advice. Whenever there is a new student the (math, science, ela and social studies) teachers wouldn’t help at all. I went almost 3 months without help in the 2020-2021 school year. Math is the schools worse subject by far. The principles only care about clubs and sports. Mostly the sports tho. If you do sports your basically on a pedestal above everyone else.

When we returned from Az, my children were enrolled in Havelock Elementary and Middle. The zones were redistricted, which placed my children in the TC district. My oldest daughters grade quickly declined, and my younger daughter suffered severe bullying; to the point of having to remove her from school and finish the year through homeschool. When confronting the teachers concerning the bullying, they turned a blind eye to it. When attempting to contact the principal, she never returned phone calls and had the secretary inform us, since our daughter was no longer going to TC, they would not look into it any further. If the faculty at this school does not change, it is only going to get worse for kids being bullied. My daughter will not return to this school, and will be attending Havelock Middle. The rating this school has received is far from the truth. Many people I have talked to have expressed the same views with this school and the bullying.

Lack of top level leadership is a big problem with the bullying in this school. The victims continue to be victimized, due to the lack of consequences associated with bullying. The victims are then made to feel victimized again when the leadership fails to do anything to prevent further incidences.

There is no support for learning differences

Posted: May 11, 2017

Leadership starts at the top. In order for it to be effective you must have a backbone. Making the hard decisions is not a strong suit in this school.

Posted: May 11, 2017

Are you kidding me! The school doesn't care about the compassion, integrity, and respect that is displayed by the students. That is apparent with the way bullying is handled in this school.

Posted: May 11, 2017

The teachers do not show a genuine interest in the students succeeding. They seem to have a herd them in and herd them out mentality

Posted: May 11, 2017

I spend more time assisting my children with their homework, than I spend in my college studies. The level of teaching is not the same level as the homework

My two children have attended this school for one year. We have consistently had issues with one teacher who seems to not care about the concerns a parent has. My son has had trouble in this teachers class and I would think she would take the time to explain stuff to not only the child but to the parents. My son tells me he doesn't turn certain work in when he should because he is afraid she will rip it up. I'm tired of feeling like its a one way street with communication with this teacher. She gives poor answers to my questions and never explains the work he needs to do. I went to an administrator at the school and he was just as bad as she is. He didn't act concerned and would only say to me that he could not tell me how they discipline their teachers. That's not what I was asking. I was a concerned parent who wanted answers about a rude teacher.... It was a pointless conversation. I admit I could never be a teacher and I am sure it is difficult. But if you are a teacher I would expect you to treat the children as you would your own. To not put them down or let other students write horrible quotes on your board like " you will never amount to anything " or saying to your student " go ahead an go home and cry to your parents who will come crying to me about how you were crying " what is that!!! Horrible. The only way I would keep my student hear would be with a promise she would leave. My son is no perfect child but this is why I am involved and request communication with teachers. I do not like to feel as if I am bothering a teacher when I have concerns...

Depends on the teacher. Some teachers are great but the one is horrible . Just horrible

Some teachers should take a refresher course. Understand how to speak to students and respect them as your would want respect

Posted: April 14, 2016

Some are very effective. Some are real jerks who don't care about their students and feel they can be disrespectful to parents with impunity. Sadly, the jerks make the rest look bad.

My son was given 8 hours of homework for one assignment. The principal told me it was the correct amount and I asked it he included the homework from the other 3 classes. There are state prescribed guidelines schools are supposed to follow. I feel like I am asked to help my son do more homework than I did in teaching college.

Posted: April 14, 2016

I found an assignment to be illegal on multiple grounds. They fixed it for my child but refused to do it for the other children even though they will discontinue the assignment next year.

I am not sure what other people's experiences were, but I'm surprised the scores are good. As middle schools go, I suppose it could be worse. I have lived here 12 years and I have had 2 student go through this school in the last 6 years. I had to move the first one to Havelock Middle because Administration refused to believe my child was being threatened, bullied, and attacked. It looks bad if they substantiate it. So why should they? The principal told me and my husbad that the kid doing it was a problem the previous year, but she was sure he had gotten better. Meanwhile, my autistic child was STILL victimized repeatedly. They asked him sexually perverted and explicit things on the bus about whether he had sex with animals and family members and then went into detail. It was caught on the bus camera. Still, no help. This is when I tranferred my son to Havelock Middle. The next day another student was mistaken as a victim by this same group and the one ring leader. That child punched that bully kid in the nose and got suspended. We thought things would be better that. The resource officer came to me and said the principal was not prepared for what she saw on the bus camera and thought she'd change what she was doing. Nope. My youngest son was screamed at by a lady on one of 7th grade team until he was having panic attacks about going to school. The VP put him on the other team. I had no problems with the other team until I pointed out that NC had laws prohibiting child slavery as well as the 13th Amendment's rules. He became belligerent and rude to me and told me I was never to contact him regarding my son ever again and told me to put my son back on the other team. The principal won't return my emails. I spoke to multiple people in the district and the VP about this. Why do these things happen? Well, the parents get handled, the problem does not. It is a management issue. They are happy doing what they are doing. They are stagnant and comfortable with how their day goes and they do not want to change. Why should they? There are no repercussions. If you are having problems, even if they retaliate against your child, YOU NEED TO SPEAK UP! Call the local district office all the way to NC State DPI! If that doesn't work, US Dept of Education or the Department of Justice! WE are supposed to have at least some power to help our children!

I would not recommend this school. Both of my children went here. I eventually took my son out and transferred him to the less desirable Havelock middle and am so glad that I did! The6th grade teachers and counselor at tucker creek were pathetic. We requested several conferences and the teacher would just sit there like deer in head lights they never had anything prepared. We as the parents would have to do all the talking and planning. We requested our son have an IEP the first week of school and they completely dropped the ball and did nothing. Time was wasted and anyone who has ever tried to get a 504 or an IEP in place for their child knows how difficult this can be. Needless to say, we are much happier at Havelock middle and our daughter has moved onto the high school. Good luck!

Horrible teachers. I've requested tutoring several times, my requests go unnoticed. One teacher even announced my daughters failing grade to the class and told her not to bother going back for volleyball try-outs nor student counsel. These 7th grade teachers have failed.
