Both my kids went here and did well. They were recommended for honors courses in high school. Both have struggled immensely in high school despite the "preparation" at AMS. I would suggest that parents of students at AMS be hypervigilant about there students progress and consider independent sources of evaluation (e.g., mathnasium, kahn, etc) to ensure they are on track and prepared for high school.

I went to Apex Middle during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school years, and I feel like your experience really depends on what teachers you had. Some of the teachers were pretty amazing while others weren't as supportive, and they didn't even teach half the time. There were a lot of fights, and I've overheard some teachers talking about how they weren't going to get a pay raise unless their students EOG scores increase, but it's practically impossible for them even if they're trying their hardest because some students simply don't listen. The student environment isn't that great, but I've made some great memories at this school. If I could go back and change things, I would probably go to a different middle school, but if you are a parent/guardian, and your child is stuck here, always check in and see what they are learning/doing at school, AND TALK TO THEIR TEACHERS because otherwise you'll never know how your child is coping with the mediocre environment they have here. (The band program is amazing though, you should check that out for at least a year and see how y'all like it.) I've also heard that the new principal (Ms. Bame) is better than the last one.

I Honestly feel like this school is good but some teachers are disrespectful and expect us to be respectful to them after. Some teachers can’t teach and also some kids get ISS and OSS too many times and not getting expelled like the rules say. I love this school but it can be a little unfair sometimes and I don’t appreciate it.

The school is always dirty. I've seen bugs and mice. The bullying is horrible and the staff doesn't do anything because of it. The food is terrible. The toilets are always broken. I'm an 8th-grader at a 4th-grade math level, and I've had no help. In science and social studies we learn the same things every year. Don't send your kid to this school.

My daughter is going here for 6th grade currently and it's been a wonderful experience so far. Her teachers are attentive and engaging, she likes her PE and elective teachers, and there doesn't seem to be crippling volumes of homework sent home every day. She does have a 504 plan and greater learning needs than most students but her teachers are working on ways to get her extra help within the school day without her having to give up any elective time.

Personally speaking i will not even send my worst enemy here!!! This school is another world, here students (like most of each class) openly say they cheat in front of teachers and get away without consequences. There are non stop fights at the school, people gossiping, bad food for lunch, very light teachers. Now teachers are so nice, but they are to nice... Kids throw food around the classroom and teachers could not care less. The schools events are not creative they are in fact quite boring. There is barely anytime to socialize and the school schedule is set perfect for starvation and is not consistent. Most of the students here are more athletic and could not care less of their studies. Hey but if you want to get AIG go right ahead cause you don't have to take a test to get in and when you get in all you do is answer a trivia question every Wednesday.... FUN. Look the only reason one shall come here is if all the other school capped out. Just to let you know how bad it is this one girl told me she had to try to become more dumb just so people will like her more as a dumb blonde. If you like getting bullied look no further atleast you can be social... o wait no cause you can use your phones anytime you want and people will sneak into the bathroom or use it under their desk. School is great use ur phone when ever NOOO SOCIAL INTERACTION!!!!! Now this school has the saddest gym it is legit this one tiny place that is everything you legit can almost never go out for PE. The school has no proper structure!!! I was definitely isolated cause i was more study oriented its not that i did not talk but its just no one wanted to be friends with me. The thing is the teachers and counselor did not thrive for order as much as they could in my opinion cause if they wanted to they could make it better. Also if you like the planet you aint gonna like this school cause they like to hide the recycling bins under tables like i swear every 8th grade classrooms recycling bin would be hid under a table!!!!! I can not tell you how many times an ambulance vist the school also in case of fire drill they set paths that can easily catch fire due to amount of trees
Overall you want to destroy your child's IQ make them feel in place where they are not good enough or safe this would be the right school for you >:(

Bad school. Poor education. Teachers are kind but not smart. Kids getting pushed into lockers. Phones are whenever they want. Stains on the ceiling. Food beyond terrible. Lack of funds. Bad announcements. Biased learning. Only one gym and that's it for all sports. No covid rules and ones there make no sense or effect. High bullying. THE ONLY REASON YOU SHOULD EVER GO TO THIS SCHOOL IS IF A GOOD SCHOOL WAS FULL. They learn grammar In 8 the grade and math is so behind. Students there think California is a continent. (not lying)
LOOK FOR UR OWN SAKE DONT GO TO THIS SCHOOL THIS IS NOT A SPAM OR EXADIRATOIN IT IS MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

I have had 2 boys go through Apex Middle School. My second son is currently an 8th grader. He has enjoyed his time there. He has been encouraged by his teachers and his teachers (with both boys) have reached out to me personally to check in. When Covid shut down school last year, the assistant principal for 7th grade called me personally to ask if we needed anything. I appreciate all the teachers and administrators do. I also really like the diversity of students at AMS. My son has become friends with kids from different ethnicities, religions, cultural backgrounds, etc. This has been wonderful. I am pleased and will send my daughter enters middle school too.

My kid is basically ignored by the teachers. When he has trouble getting his work done in school, no one bothers to try to help and no one bothers to work with the parents. They say they are too busy to meet with me. I guess they are too busy to care at all.

Posted: February 18, 2019

Terrible, terrible, terrible. I assume it's because there aren't enough teachers and isn't enough money to care.

My learner has had some great teachers who care and are engaged in his success.

Posted: June 26, 2018

The teachers do their very best at mitigating bullying and encouraging students respect one another. But Lets be honest, its Junior High... and kids can be nasty. Just talk to your student, have them report bullying and learn to walk away.

It is a great school with diversity to learning. The teachers and admin care about the students and are very involved in the school and after school activities.

Posted: November 11, 2015

They look bored and basically like they do not want to be there. I have heard more complaints about the class sizes, than anything concerning curriculum or concern for students. This is the 1st group of teachers I've met in all my years of raising children, that has a don't care it's just a paycheck air about them.

Posted: November 11, 2015

I've see a lot of worksheets sent home to complete, but not anything of substance or that wasn't printed off the internet. Homework should reinforce what is being taught or an extension of work in class. These printouts are busy work.

Posted: November 11, 2015

The administration intimidates students and parents. They withhold information and make wild accusations without proof. Everyone says they have to go through the Principal, which to me indicates he does not trust his staff.

Posted: November 11, 2015

We moved to Apex at the beginning of the school year, and Apex Middle has been a terrible experience. There was little assistance to acclimate. The 1st day of school my child was sat in front of a powerpoint presentation by herself. Zero communication from teachers other than negative. The AP and Principal are classic bullies to students and parents. The AP accused me of cussing him out which is a completely false accusation. Now there has been an "Incident which is still being investigated" involving my daughter, but he refuses to speak to me and provide me information about what happened. I am forced to keep my daughter out of school until someone in "authority" tells me their version of what happened. It is definitely a good old boy team driven by some code of silence that doesn't involve parents. My child has never had problems in school involving administration, lack of quality teaching and interaction with students and parents. She is failing every class including art! She tells me of kids drawing crude pictures on furniture and walls, cussing and gossiping, drugs and cigarettes sold every day on campus. There is a full time police officer there while all this is going on. I am actively seeking a new school environment that fosters trust, respect, stimulating teaching and most of all one that does NOT make me scared to send my child to school. Who would have thought adults in education could be so unprofessional and childish.

I have had 2 students at Apex Middle School; my youngest is about to enter 8th grade there. We have been very happy with the teachers at Apex Middle School. They are caring, fun, and creative in their ways of getting their students interested in what they are teaching. My daughter has been well prepared for each grade she has entered, and I feel she will be well prepared for High School as well. We find the school well organized, and creates a safe, encouraging learning environment. I would highly recommend it.

I attend apex middle school and what the other people said about the administers were true, they don't really do anything about the bullying, but they're big on not bullying and making it seem like they care about the bullying but they don't.. which i know that's confusing but that's what they do. half of the bullying is because of the drama, which is why the administers probably don't like to get involve but they should. if you come to the school that's all it's about. the school is a very clean school.. the students on the other hand are disrespect and bad influences. they are really big on safety for sure. so if you want a dramatic safety school, apex middle is for you.

I currently go to this school and I honestly hate it and don't want to come next year. I am in 7th grade and came in the 2nd semester. When I first met my first teachers it was okay the classes were much more behaved than in my old school (Ligon) but when I went to my science class it was horrible there were was very few respect to the teacher but in general the teacher was horrible. As we came to 4th quarter she exposed one of the girls grades that I am friends with. She believed that the girl needed some public embarrassment because her science grade was so low. I have been bullied as well by a boy there. I went and told the 7th grade AP and he honestly didn't do anything about it, even one of the girls who witnessed it and was in it with me told him and he just ignored it. I hate it so much and hate going there every single day!!! I don't recommend this school it is a joke!

Posted: February 14, 2014

I attended Apex middle last year, for my 8th grade year. And I can honestly say that it was the WORST month of my life. I was taken out of school because I was being bullied so badly, the administration did nothing to help me, even when a friend (who witnessed it) went to the office with me to get help, the lady we spoke with told us to write down our stories, where they were probably just thrown away. Nothing was ever done about it, and I'm sure the girl who bullied me is still walking the halls laughing. The teachers were a joke, they taught just enough to have you ready for the test, and 85% of my math class was failing. I would NOT recomend this school to ANYONE. Not even my worst enemy, this was the WORST experience I have ever had at a school

This school is full of misery the students are extremely reckless and immature this school seems like a factory with a bunch of workers. This school is broken the teachers and administrators are like hired babysitters this school has lost its morals. This school is also like a daycare with pointless education but some useful education but the point is people need to realize that this school system is going to break. This school is a overpopulated factory with brain dead students I am the only student with knowledge don't go to this broken school please you'll save your self alot Of stress.

I went to this school last year and I must say it was the best school year I've ever had. I LOVED it. So fun.

Posted: September 21, 2013

I went to this school all three years and it was the worst place ever. This was the most stressful environment I have ever been in and to add to that there was a new principal every year. There was absolutely no authority and every day there were fight in the locker rooms. I played a year of lacrosse for the school and the warm up was all out fights! What kind of school supports that? Just because of the amount of stress and bad memories from this one school, I hate having to even drive by it or through that part of apex as a matter of fact. This is the worst school ever.
