True neighbour school with excellent support for foreigners. We had the chance to have Mrs. Duvenage as our first teacher at Baucom and I'm lacking words to describe how great she was to our child.
Another important mention is Dr. Saunders, a very approachable principal that is passionate about education, community engagement and well-being.
This school perspires the true sense of community, mutual aid and cooperation.

The current principal is concerned about student improvement and safety regardless of what the childs EOG score will reflect. We need more principals like her!

The SPED department is amazing! They not only work to help the child with learning differences, but help them build their confidence. The staff is empathetic and listens to parents concerns. They work well as a team for the best outcome of the child, not for just test scores.

Homework is not overwhelming but enough to get them ready for middle and high school.

I have had 3 kids here. As at all schools (any profession as a whole), some fall short. But, overall, we have been pleased and several teachers (namely, Mrs. Monroe) has exceeded their position as a teacher.

Having a child with special needs, this school not only teaches kids to respect others but acts on it. My child has not encountered any bullying beyond normal child encounters (cutting in line, playground disputes, etc).

Excellent! The school feels like a community working together to raise our children to achieve their best regardless if they revived services in special education or AIG. I have children in both and never doubt my kids are in good hands at Baucom.

My children have made remarkable strides at this school. Do not trust the rating. Look at the data. Students are exceeding state standards in all areas. Teachers and administrators communicate regularly with parents and foster close and compassionate relationships with students. This school is innovate and rigorous while remaining caring and community based.

Baucom Elementary is a rare gem in Wake County Public Schools. It is truly a neighborhood school , and the teachers and principal LOVE the children. My child gets more than an academic education, he learns how to be a part of the real world. We love Baucom!

Love the school and the staff. Teachers are generally great. The worst thing I can think of is, that there are more than a few kids in trailers.

We have two, soon to be three children at Baucom. We have found the staff to be caring, up front, expecting responsibility of the students, and they know each and every kid who walks through the door. We have not loved all of our teachers but have found that there is always the highest expectation of work done by students. When we did have an issue with a teacher, it was dealt with appropriately. We were not pushed aside, but met with all involved and the principal did what she should, she stood by her teacher and yet listened to us and addressed the issue at hand. I love their pull-out programs such as KITS and Explorers for supplemental learning opportunities. The specials are great and they have wonderful community events that are amazingly well attended by families. This is a community school in many ways. There are endless ways to be involved in your child's education.
